Failed 2004 Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) lashed out today at the most decorated living American serviceman, Col. Bud Day, who was awarded the Medal Honor for his heroism as a POW during the Vietnam War.
Kerry attacked Day for his role in the McCain Truth Squad (a new effort by presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain to defend his military service from criticism) because of Day’s participation in the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (SBVT) 2004 campaign which criticized Kerry’s service in Vietnam as a junior naval officer and his actions protesting the war when he returned home. The scathing attacks by the SBVT and Kerry’s weak response are widely credited with sinking his candidacy.
In a McCain Truth Squad conference call with reporters today, Day defended the SBVT, saying, “The Swift Boat attacks were simply a revelation of the truth, the similarity does not exist here. What the Swift Boat campaign was about was to lay out John Kerry’s record. John Kerry has never produced any evidence to deny that. We are producing the evidence of these attacks right now to show that those remarks were completely inaccurate.”
Kerry responded with a statement to the press: “Colonel Day’s comments today only further highlight the McCain campaign’s disregard for a new kind of politics. John McCain condemned these kinds of attacks in 2004 when he called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ‘dishonest and dishonorable.’ Senator McCain should condemn these remarks and cut ties with the Colonel and anyone else connected to SBVT. Day’s comments only serve to disparage all those who served on swift boats in Vietnam.”
Day, incidentally, differed from McCain regarding ithe Swift Boat Veterans. The Arizona Republican was among the first to condemn the Swift Boat ads, calling one “dishonest and dishonorable.”
Kerry served in Vietnam for a few months.
Day was held prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese from 1967-1973. McCain and Day were cellmates at the Hanoi Hilton.

Wild Thing’s comment……..
On the day that Obama gives his (I am too a patriot) speech, we get Obama’s surrogates defending Clarks insinuations that McCains war service is inconsequential and now Kerry deriding Bud Day of all people.
Good God, who’s next on the dem hit parade? Eisenhower? Patton?
Kerry, I would submit, is another good reason to legalize dueling again.

Bob says:

Obama’s speech about Wesley Clark’s remarks on McCain were all over TV yesterday. It immediately crossed my mind about Kerry in the last election. I do question Hussein’s true patriotism and don’t give a hoot what he thinks.

Cheryl Zee says:

Kerry is a traitior!! He should be doing time for
treason! Now he is an Obamabot like the rest of these democrat zombies! The Democrats are the blind leading the deaf dumb and blind! They seriously have a distorted view of the world – a bunch of commies- When Kerry dies – he will go straight to hell!!

Mark says:

T.Boone Pickens has offered 1 Million dollars to anyone who can produce one tiny shred of evidence proving the ‘Swifties’ wrong. Kerry, feigned outrage and said he could produce it. So T. Boone is still waiting, not holding his breath though, for this poser to show any proof. He can’t.
Kerry keeps saying how they ‘swift-boated’ him with lies. Yet he has not disproven any of them. Kerry keeps dodging and ducking the questions. He still hasn’t released his complete file which he promised after the last election… it has been 4 years and counting.
If Obama had a brain he would distance himself from kerry as fast as he can. but birds of a feather tend to lay down with dogs and usually both wind up with fleas, or some kind of social disease.

TomR says:

Kerry’s treasonous actions probably caused Bud Day and John McCain more harm while they were imprisoned in the Hanoi Hilton. Kerry was a vicious to them in his way as the Communist Vietnamese guards were.
We have been waiting 4 years for Kerry to release his military records to the public. A promise from Kerry seems to be about as reliable as his (lack of)patriotism.

Les says:

John Kerry has now joined Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton as three people who deserve a loud and clear national shout of SHUT UP! They have all passed their political prime and embarrass themselves and the country every time that they open their mouths.

Wild Thing says:

Bob, me too, from every chance Obama has had to show the world and especially Ameerican’s his love of our country and his appreciation to the Veterans and troops for his freedom he has failed big time. It is an act and a phony speech when he tries to ‘sound’ patriotic.

Wild Thing says:

Cheryl, Yessssss and when Kerry dies if I out live him I will open a bottle of champaign, and celebrate that he is finally gone.

Wild Thing says:

Mark thanks for mentioning T. Boone.Yes I think he is still waiting.
“birds of a feather tend to lay down with dogs and usually both wind up with fleas” very fitting for these dems.

Wild Thing says:

Tom I think so too, and I will never ever understand why McCain was so buddy buddy with Kerry before. They joined forces against the POW families etc. and McCain almost was his running mate. Just too weird.

Wild Thing says:

Les amen rto that and I am for some drastic measures but I know it is not possible to throw them in jail but it would be sooooo great to do that if we could.
