Baker Reacts To ‘surrender monkey’ Press ~ LOL

State James Baker (L) and former Rep. Lee Hamilton (D-IN)

Baker reacts to ‘surrender monkey’ press
Washington Times
Between prime-time Senate hearings and crowded press conferences today, elder statesman and former Secretary of State James A. Baker III was shown today’s New York Post, which on the cover portrays him as a “surrender monkey.”
Beneath that wartime headline are two shaggy crouched monkeys with the faces of Mr. Baker and former Rep. Lee Hamilton.

“Lovely,” he said as he took the paper in his hands and reviewed it closely. “If we’re getting attacked by this rag, you know we’re doing something right,” he said.

On the widescreen television nearby, President Bush was holding a press conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Mr. Bush was saying how he would tell Syria to stop destabilizing things in Iraq.
Mr. Baker — widely beloved for his skills at diplomacy — offered no reaction to Mr. Bush’s strategy. He simply picked up the New York Post, opened past the cover bearing his visage, and began reading the five pages of coverage.

Wild Thing’s comment…….
LMAO he doesn’t like it. Make my day.
Here is a quote by Lyn Nofziger

“Baker’s a guy who’s arrogant, who thought he knew better than the president,” Mr. Nofziger says of Mr. Baker. “I don’t think he’s an honorable man. And you can quote me.”

The Baker-Saudi Arabia Connection:
* In the past few years, Baker Botts–which employs about 700 lawyers, has had annual revenues of about $365 million and operates offices in Austin, Baku, Dallas, London, Moscow, New York, Riyadh and Washington, DC.
* In 2005, the firm expanded its presence in the region by opening an office in Dubai to complement the existing office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
* When two of the most powerful members of the House of Saud–the Saudi defense minister, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and his brother, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al- Saud, the governor of Riyadh–needed lawyers to defend them against a lawsuit brought against them and other Saudis by survivors of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Sultan and Salman hired Baker Botts.
* The Baker Botts legal team has openly acknowledged in their brief that Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud has for the past 16 years approved regular payments of about $266,000 a year to the International Islamic Relief Organization—a large Saudi charity whose U.S. offices were last year raided by federal agents.

Jack says:

Seems like another well known Communist was doing a similar thing for Saddam Hussein and getting paid off handsomely, I see no difference between Baker and Kofi Annan or Ramsey Clark in who they represent. If the shoe fits wear it.

Mark says:

Madiline Half-bright was asked what she would do as far as Iran and Syria, oh of course she would talk to our enemies.
Well she did that in Korea, and now they have the Bomb, what other bright moves can she suggest.
Everybody says, talk to Syria and Iran, what do we offer these two third world dictators, and from what position of strength are we dealing ?
What inducement can we offer Iran to make them stop meddling in Iraq ? I can think of two: One, is to sell out Israel and two, give Iran Nukes. Neither is acceptable to us, so what do we deal with.
From what I have read, number 1 selling out Israel is part of Bakers propaosal, of all the recommandations Israel is not even mentioned. How do we deal with the Middle East and Not include Israel.
This whole commission is a study in futility, and Baker is talking like men with paper A$$holes.
Bush should send these geriatric has beens back to the home, they can do less harm their.

Rhod says:

When I was young, I held the misconception that age is, ipso facto, cause for respect. I think we got our version of this idea from the Greeks, and passed it unaltered through the ages until it ran onto the rocks in the 1960’s. Maybe the hippies were right on this one.
The older I get, the less I respect age as a quality in itself. Some people get better, most of us get worse. More selfish, more dishonest, more arrogant. And nowhere is this more true than in the compromising professions.
When you start with anyone in government (or journalism), of any party, who’s spent a lifetime there, the corruption can be assumed. Baker, in particular, has spent his life solidifying lies and deceits into diplomacy, and burying the natural self-respect which would inhibit most people from doing it.
He’s despicable; I always thought so. He has that oily, sleazy demeanor of the trained bullshitter, made worse by his haughty self-assurance.
I’ve thought that, as history has condemned Neville Chamberlain for his credulity, in some way Baker will eventually get his, along with all the other pompous frauds on the ISG. The facts of history will eventually brand Baker as the corrupt crapweasel he is.

TomR says:

Baker helped Bush 41 waste many of Ronald reagan’s accomplishments, from a vibrant economy to a large healthy standing military to World respect. After the Baker/Bush 41 team turned successful “voodoo economics” into a tax heavy recession, and began the military “peace dividend” drawdown, they then engaged in the old Washington practice of “compromise” that proved to the World that it no longer needed to respect/fear the stand firm United States.
Then the topper of these two Washington insiders error prone policies was to lose the support of the Reagan Democrats and an incumbancy, to Bill Clinton.
And now Baker is to advise America in a war of survival??
Buy more ammo!

TomR says:

Sadly, I just heard that Jeanne Kirkpatrick passed away. How much better she would have been than Baker or Hamilton.

Rhod says:

I agree. I’ve thought for a long time that Bush 41 was a net loss for us. Now we have Baker, one of the artifacts of that clot of losers, making policy once again. Is this the best we have? If it is, like you say, buy more ammo.

raz0r says:

Baker ain’t gonna be happy till he “helps” us give all the mid-east (incl. Israel) away.
I wonder if we could ask the Iron Lady her view on Iraq. How she would proceed from this point forward. She at least has a backbone and cajones to stand up and be counted.
Or better yet, Stormin’ Norman. He ain’t afraid of blowin’ stuff up or rufflin’ a few feathers. He’s a straight talker too. Old school as it were. I’m sure a visit by Chrissie could presuade him to give it a go. And she does love her Nam vets. He lives just a bit up the road Chrissie.

Wild Thing says:

Jack I agree, it does amaze me how they think others are stupid and will fall for their vile ideas and what they want for America, our military and the war.

Wild Thing says:

Mark, that is what I want to happen so much, send them home and tell them to stay out of it.
Every part of Bakers report made me sick and angry. We must stand by Israel and we must not turn our backs on our awesome troops.

Wild Thing says:

Rhod I was like that too when I was growing up.
Then as I saw and heard those older then me say and do things I could not respect I began to change and took on a whole differnt feeling of who I would respect and why. It was a huge thing for me to come to realize this.

Wild Thing says:

Tom,it really is awful and a nightmare. I never thought we would be having things like this happen.

Wild Thing says:

razOr, guess what I collect teddy bears and I have one that is the same bear that was given to Stormin’ Norman. The woman that made it is a friend of mine and she presented the bear to Stormin’ Norman in person. Then she made 10 more of them and I was so lucky to get one of them.He is dressed exactly how Stormin’ Norman dressed in camo’s and has the two watches on like Stormin’ Norman wore all the time. It is so neat.
Sorry to go on about that, but your comment reminded me of how I got the Stormin’ Norman bear.
