It Just Never Ends

Kerry flip-flops, again
Washington Times
John Kerry’s sorriest moment, until now, sounded like this: “I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.” But this week he has arguably outdone that equivocation.

“It is essential to acknowledge that the war itself was a mistake,” the Massachusetts Democrat told a crowd of cheering leftists Tuesday at the “Take Back America” conference in Washington. “It was wrong, and I was wrong to vote for that Iraqi war resolution.”

He called on President Bush to withdraw all troops from Iraq by the end of the year. Sen. Hillary Clinton disagreed and was booed. Thus, Mr. Kerry, in his bid to remake himself as the antiwar partisan his liberal base has wanted all along, has flip-flopped his way to an even bigger self-contradiction than the one that did him in two years ago.
This is just too convenient. The supposed change of heart comes at the very moment President Bush’s polling numbers ticked up on news of terrorist Abu Musab Zarqawi’s death; at the very moment an Iowa poll places Mr. Kerry behind John Edwards among Democratic voters there for 2008; at the moment other Democratic hopefuls like Mrs. Clinton are being called formidable by Republican commentators; at the moment John Kerry is being written off as a has-been among presidential contenders.
Consistency has never been Mr. Kerry’s strong suit, but this is exceptional. We don’t know whether the actions are sheerly cynical or a cynical calculation coupled with colossal bumbling. It would be “bumbling” because prospects in Iraq are looking better this week than they have in some time, and American voters are noticing. The Iraqi government has filled key cabinet posts. A massive raid on insurgent positions is underway (452 raids and 104 insurgent deaths have reportedly happened since Zarqawi’s death). Even if this is not “the beginning of the end” of al Qaeda in Iraq, the way that bullish officials in Baghdad were quoted as saying yesterday, the timing suggests that Mr. Kerry might not even care if it was. The position he espoused this week would doubtlessly unintentionally play right into the hands of the enemy’s strategy, which is to survive long enough to grind away the American will to fight.
Mr. Kerry was a flip-flopper during the 2004 campaign. Now, apparently, he is an even bigger flip-flopper. He seems not to have learned anything from 2004. Even now, with more than two years to go until his next shot at the presidency, his finger in the wind still directs him, even on matters as vital as Iraq.
Wild Thing’s comment…..
I just can’t stand to even hear a MR. in front of Hanoi Kerry’s name. UGH!

raz0r says:

Flip-flops again?! Strap him to my feet and wear him to the beach. Course, then my feet would be covered in liberal stench. Maybe not.

Jack says:

We have to temper the bullshit with the truth, Kerry has no credibility, nada, none. Oliver North has made a good comparison between the war in Iraq and the War Kerry’s side won. It is good to review the truth to keep that pompous asshole’s comments in perspective.

Wild Thing says:

razOr hahaha yes you don’t want your shoes all icky. Feed him to the sharks would be ok. haha

Wild Thing says:

Jack this is such a good write up by Oliver North, thank you for the link.

Rhod says:

I remember this greasy dimwit when he first appeared on television years ago. With tailored bell bottoms, a starched denim shirt and an expensive Kennedy haircut, he also twisted his normal speech patterns to sound like JFK and Bobby. I hated him right away. What he was saying was secondary to the ludicrous role he was playing; he was so awful and derivative it made you physically ill.
He was the worst kind of fraud, because lacking intelligence and style, he ended up being just another bar scene impressionist. I watched him over the years in the Northeast and he grew even worse, adding lies and outright hallucinations about himself. One minute he was Mad Jack, chewing on lit cannon fuses, and the next he was some bawling Nantucket beach rat with sand in his thong. Either a hero or a crying Nancy Boy.
You can’t explain this guy. He’s an amoral, shallow narcissist, but sometimes I think God plays with assholes like Kerry for comic relief. The man’s instinct for being flat wrong, for being behind the curve, for pathological confusion is worthy of a Federal-funded study.

Wild Thing says:

ROTFLMAO
“worthy of a Federal-funded study.”/i>
Rhod! Love it!

Cindy says:

I, and anyone else with eyes, have to be skeptical that a person that had two 500 pound bombs dropped on his head would look so good in his nicely framed “death” photo. My dear friend Michael Berg whose son, Nicholas, was allegedly beheaded by al-Zarqawi had the unmitigated nerve to go on national TV and say that, no, it did not make him feel better that this person was killed because he knows that it won’t bring Nicholas back and in making al-Zarqawi a martyr it will probably only increase the violence. Violence is a cycle that can be stopped by stopping violence. Michael, who is running for Congress on the Green Party ticket in Delaware knows that our diseased democracy really killed his son, anyway.

Cindy:
Brilliant stuff. The assumption that Zeke looks too good for having had two 500 pound bombs “dropped on his head” is strangely paranoid and logical at the same time. Set up your own assumptions and draw your own conclusions. Works all the time.
Point two…there doesn’t seem to be much doubt that Nick Berg was beheaded by Zeke. Your use of the word “alledgedly” might satisfy your own temptation to restate the truth, but it doesn’t make it fact.
What is the “cycle of violence”? I understand it’s a necessary tentpole in your worldview, but what is it? Can you prove that it exists? What is the difference between pacifism and passivity? Is it ever necessary to fight? There are dozens of questions here. Let’s discuss the morality of your point of view.
When is democracy “diseased”? When you disagree with it? What’s a democracy, Cindy? What’s majority rule? Nick Berg wasn’t a soldier, Cindy. No one sent him to Iraq, or didn’t you know that? Probably not. Make your case.
If you want to play this game, I can do it all day. Stretch yourself Cindy. Think a little, defend yourself.

PS to Cindy:
Your post was a masterpiece, by the way. Here’s a recommendation. Pick up something by R.D. Laing and read about his theory of the “double bind”. Essentially, Cindy, it’s the ability to say “something” while actually saying something entirely different. Insinuation, condemnation, obfuscation, denial…it’s all there in your post. Amazing stuff. How long have you been doing this?

Jack says:

Maybe Cindy can explain why someone can survive a saturation bombing unscathed while another dies from shock due to a superficial wound, I can’t but it surely happens. The condition of Zarqawis body means nothing, all that counts is that he will no longer saw someones head off in front of a camera nor will he give orders or detonate explosives that indiscriminately kill innocent people in his murderous quest to intimidate the population. Cindy still hasn’t explained Zarqawi’s moral turpitude in the beheading of Nick Berg nor Michael Berg’s lassitude about that event. If it weren’t for recklessly endangering the rest of the population it would be nice to let the pacifists fend for themselves and provide for their own security and safety.
The last time I checked there were no United States restrictions on it’s citizens immigrating to another country, I’m sure Cindy would be an asset to any one of the Middle East or Communist countries, and if she would only quit that sniveling, whining, bawling act she puts on for the press some sheik might add her to his stable then she can truly live the life of Dhimmitude she so desperately seeks. She is one of a few American women who would look tremendous in a burqa. If she needs funding for a one way ticket out of the country I’m sure there are many here who would chip in to help her on her way, providing it’s a permanent move. The only point I agree with in her statement is that we have a diseased democracy, that disease is Liberalism.

Rhod says:

Great post, Jack. But unless I miss my guess, Sheehan is perfectly happy in America, as long as we stop supporting….the Joooooozzz. Our Middle Eastern policies are built around our support for Izzzreeeuhlll, and the Joooozzz. Those nefarious JJoooozzz.

BobF says:

How does somebody have two 500 pound bombs dropped on his head and look so good for his “death photo”? Gee, I don’t know. Maybe you know the answer. Maybe you can tell me why a person falls off a 20 foot roof and dies instantly but a woman falls 10,000 feet in a skydiving accident, surviving to give birth to a health child.

What makes you think the bomb landed directly on the room he was sleeping in? The house was reinforced concrete. I’m wondering why they didn’t use 2,000 ponders but then it would have been hard to even collect DNA samples.
