Two ROTC buildings vandalized
Vandals spray slogans and spread paint on N.C. State and UNC-CH structures
Vandals staged attacks early Wednesday on the buildings used by the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at N.C. State University and UNC-Chapel Hill, echoing similar assaults on three Triangle recruiting stations last month.
As before, vandals sprayed anti-war slogans and profanity, splashed red paint and claimed responsibility with a mass e-mail message to area media outlets.
Lt. Col. Carol Ann Redfield of the Army ROTC program at N.C. State was caught off guard. “This is the first time I know of that anything like this has happened here,” she said. “I certainly appreciate that people have different opinions, and they should be able to express them, but I have a problem when they damage property.”
The e-mail, from someone calling himself “celest ialbeing” said, “Stop these recruitment centers that target poor people and people of color to fight to maintain the power structure that (literally and figuratively) imprisons us daily.”
The vandals sprayed slogans at the base of an entrance to Reynolds Coliseum, which holds the Department of Military Science, and tossed paint onto an ROTC sign above the entrance.
Investigators had good leads, said Sgt. Jon Barnwell of the N.C. State Police Department.
At UNC-Chapel Hill, campus police spokesman Randy Young said investigators were aware of the e-mail and the link with the attack at N.C. State. “We’re certainly looking into that,” he said. Investigators think the UNC Naval Armory was attacked between 4 and 5:30 a.m.
A student who signs up for ROTC mixes military training with regular classes and can get help with college costs in return for serving as an officer after graduation.
It is not clear whether the attacks were related to incidents in March at recruiting offices in Durham and Raleigh, but the subject line on the e-mail message Wednesday was “more red paint and anti-war.”
The attacks Wednesday were coordinated, but that doesn’t mean they were well-planned.
At UNC, the vandals used spray paint for slogans but chose a 5-gallon bucket of water-soluble red paint to splash the landing, columns and steps. A cleanup crew blasted it off with a pressure washer.
“Thank goodness they used water-based paint,” said Angelo Baldwin, a crew member. The slogans — including “we won’t fight your wars!” — also were removed quickly, but the doors must be repainted.
At N.C. State, the slogan “Army ROTC trains murderers resist acts of war” was sprayed in a place all but invisible to passers-by. The vandals’ arsenal also included another puzzling choice: Christmas tree ornaments, which were apparently tossed at the ROTC sign.
Wild Thing comments…….
Today driving home from work the car in front of me had three stickers on it.
1. a sticker with a photo of Bush saying ( clueless/ war criminal)
2. Would someone please give Bush a blow job so we can impeach him
3. I am a Democrat and a Christian
My reply is this
1. Bush is not clueles nor a war criminal
2. Clinton is and was a criminal and Monicagate was only one thing that disgraced the Oval Office that the Clinton’s did.
3. A Democrat that is aiding the enemy and I would not recommend putting one foot on our property if you value your life.
Regarding the vandalism that Democrats/Lefties love to do at the ROTC, and other military places, because of their loathing of the military, KISS MY ASS!

I lied this is the last one, Dont tell me they
hired Ward Churchill….
Vandalism, profanity and anonymous EMails from celestial beings. This is how lefties express their courage and convictions. Well, every species produces freaks.
Then the driver of the bumper-stickered car calls him/herself a “Democrat and a Christian” and he/she is asking for “someone” to give the President a BJ. Hmmm. This is how lefties express their religion.
There must be some troll out there who would like to defend this, don’t you think?
Now that pic … OMG WT … mmmmm.

Rhod, I looked on line at google when I got home and sure enough, there was the sticker (some round and some rectangle) saying that about BJ and impeach Bush. I try not to go to stickers for the Democrat places it makes me way too angry. But I wanted to see if it was his own made up or if they are selling them in quanities.
Yes about the troll. haha One would think so. heh heh
RWR haha I have various shots I use for telling the left to kiss my ass. That is just one of them. K-Pow lefties. heh heh
Sounds like the old radical bunches from the 60’s. Not everything should be recycled.
WildThing- this makes me think of being at a stoplight a few weeks ago…
The truck in front of me had a yellow ribbon “support the troops” magnetic emblem, a “no W” sticker on the window, also a “I hate Bush” sticker,a “save the earth” sticker, one of those magnetic *fishes* emblems, with a cross and *jesus* in the center, AND they were playing rap music that was so loud my car windows were vibrating- when I opened my window to catch what they were playing- it was super profane Rap- with a lot of *f that b*t## in the chorus, and other niceties…all I could think of was- this person fits Vilmar’s description perfectly of a “namby pamby lefty” ha!
“The e-mail, from someone calling himself “celest ialbeing” said, “Stop these recruitment centers that target poor people and people of color to fight to maintain the power structure that (literally and figuratively) imprisons us daily.”
Let me respond to this idiotic email that was sent. Where do they get this targeting people of color? The majority of the Armed Forces are, what I will call, white. The military doesn’t care what color a person is as long as their willing to serve their country.
Now for the second and most idiotic of the statements; they target poor people. First let me say, what is wrong with targeting poor people? The military offers the young men and women of this nation the BEST technical training in the world. From medical to computers, from aircraft maintenance to administrative, the military will provide training that many poor people will never get anywhere else in life. They’ll do this while providing a good salary along with FREE medical, dental, vision, housing, food, and 30 vacation per year.
I was one of these poor people who enlisted back in the early 70’s. The military (USAF) provided me training and life experiences that I wouldn’t have gotten in the civilian sector no matter what. At 21 years old I was a shift supervisor with 3 people working under me. I had authority to determine if aircraft repairs were flight worthy and sign off on them. The lives of the aircrews were in my hands and in the hands of thousands of young men and women like me; I was trusted to do the job. I was offered training, opportunities and given advancement that civilians could only dream of. I lived in places of this country that people hope to vacation to some day and I’ve been places in the world that people can only dream of visiting. I retired a Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) and have a guaranteed retirement check…GM retirees can’t say that…and live a very comfortable life. Once my son finishes college, I will be able to retire completely and will only be 54 years old…I work a civilian job now. This poor boy, son of a single mom raising three kids didn’t do to bad, thanks to the opportunities offered me by the military.
So, when jerkwads like those who want to stop recruiters, saying their concerned for the poor, I wonder what kind of concern they have. Are they concerned the poor may better themselves in the military and advance to levels they could only dream of? Or, are they concerned the poor may no longer support their left wing politics once they become wage earners and taxpayers. I think it’s both reasons.
Tom it sure is, the 60’s all over again. It makes me sick and furious at the same time.
Mr. Speaker….Mr. Speaker…., I nominate BobF. Great post Bob. Ever think about politics? On second thought that might not work out, you have way too much common sense. Good job….
Billy
SouthernDoll……Vilmar is right, that is just what they are too. hahaha
“namby pamby lefty”
Bob fantastic comment! Thank you so much for sharing! I agree it is both reasons and you stated it so perfectly too.
Wild Thng,
Off topic but just a quick note. Construction on Freedom Tower started today, unfortunately I haven’t seen much coverage or fanfare. What a shame. How soon we forget…
Billy
Billy giggle you read my mind,I usually try to put some post together throughout the day if I am not too busy at work. I just posted about the constrution of the Freedom Tower a little while ago.
Thank you for mentioning it and you can always do that. It is hard to know about everything that is going on so it is really wonderful when I get input too.
Wild Thing,
Thank you. I had thought about posting something on my blog site but as you know, it is geared more toward humor than an informative look at events. Since New York was my home town and at least one of my classmates (that I am aware of) perished that day, I have a hard time finding humor in anything directly connected to that site. I am saddened that the start of construction hasn’t generated more coverage. I think it is a missed opportunity to re unite America with a positive story about how we are moving forward. The politicians in this country are too busy shooting arrows at one another in their respective bids for power in the upcoming mid term election to be concerned with patriotism. Thank you again….
