AG Holder Urges New Hate Crimes Law

AG Holder urges new hate crimes law
WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday that recent killings show the need for a tougher U.S. hate crimes law to stop "violence masquerading as political activism."
"Over the last several weeks, we have witnessed brazen acts of violence, committed in places that many would have considered unthinkable," Holder told the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.
WHOM TO PROTECT? Christian conservatives fight expansion of hate-crimes law
He cited separate attacks over a two-week period that killed a young soldier, an abortion provider and a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Federal agents and prosecutors are already involved in the local investigations of each attack.
The violence, he said, "reminds us of the potential threat posed by violent extremists and the tragedy that ensues when reasoned discourse is replaced by armed confrontation."
In order to stop that violence, he said, Congress should pass an updated version of hate crimes legislation, in order to more effectively prosecute those who commit violent attacks based on gender, disability, or sexual orientation.
The growing number of hate crimes against Hispanics also shows the need for tougher laws, Holder said.
"We will not tolerate murder, or the threat of violence, masquerading as political activism," Holder said. "So let me be clear, the Justice Department will use every tool at its disposal to protect the rights ensured under our Constitution."
Earlier, a leading civil rights coalition says there has been an increase in white supremacist activity since the election of the first African-American president.
The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund reported Tuesday that the economic downturn and fear of immigrants also contributed to the increase.
The report comes a week after a white supremacist killed a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Museum.
The coalition reported the U.S. now averages a hate crime nearly every hour of every day. A special concern is the rising number of hate crimes committed against Hispanics and gays.
Wild Thing's comment.......
No mention of the US soldiers shot and one killed by an Islamic terrorist.
If hate were indeed a crime, Eric Holder is guilty as sin. And Eric, your fellow ‘Rats in Congress didn’t seem to feel it was appropriate to give our men and women in uniform those same protections. Wonder why, Eric?
Liberal Solution to all problems make more laws.
Let's get to the truth of the matter - this is simply an end run to circumvent freedom of speech. It is to make giving an opposing opinion from the common liberal ideal as being a crime.

Senator Threatens Filibuster of 'Pedophile Protection Act'
Senator threatens filibuster of 'Pedophile Protection Act'
Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., today confirmed he will fight the "hate crimes" legislation pending in the U.S. Senate and, if necessary, will launch a filibuster against the plan that critics have dubbed the "Pedophile Protection Act."
His Washington office confirmed to WND his position today, shortly after several Christian activists who have been rallying opposition to the proposal said they had received word he would help.
The proposal, called the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009, already has passed the House 249-175. But analysts contend it would designate homosexuals and others with an alternative sexual lifestyle choice for special protections under federal law.
At the same time, it would leave Christian ministers open to prosecution should their statements, especially biblical condemnations of homosexuality, be linked to any subsequent offense, by anyone, against a homosexual person.
The "hate crimes" bill in the Senate is the target of an organized letter-writing campaign that has already generated more than 560,000 individual letters sent by Fed Ex to all 100 U.S. senators.
It was designated the "Pedophile Protection Act" after Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, proposed an amendment during the proposal's trek through the U.S. House. He suggested, "The term sexual orientation as used in this act or any amendments to this act does not include pedophilia."
But majority Democrats refused to go along.
Rep. Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, a former judge, said that statement of intent would go a long way towards providing pedophiles with the protection they would want from the law for their sexual proclivity.
"Having reviewed cases as an appellate judge, I know that when the legislature has the chance to include a definition and refuses, then what we look at is the plain meaning of those words," explained Gohmert. "The plain meaning of sexual orientation is anything to which someone is orientated. That could include exhibitionism, it could include necrophilia (sexual arousal/activity with a corpse) ... it could include urophilia (sexual arousal associated with urine), voyeurism. You see someone spying on you changing clothes and you hit them, they've committed a misdemeanor, you've committed a federal felony under this bill. It is so wrong."
In fact, one supporter of the "hate crimes," Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., confirmed that very worry, saying: "This bill addresses our resolve to end violence based on prejudice and to guarantee that all Americans regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability or all of these 'philias' and fetishes and 'ism's' that were put forward need not live in fear because of who they are."
Rick Scarborough of Vision America told WND DeMint had assured him he understood the issue and would use every delay tactic available to him as a senator.
"And if it gets to the floor," Scarborough said, "If it's necessary, he would filibuster. He said he would do that as a last resort."
"He told me, 'Rick, I'm used to being beaten up by the Left,'" Scarborough said.
Scarborough also said James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, also has agreed to work against the "hate crimes" plan, and it may be addressed on a portion of his radio program soon. Scarborough said the campaign will contact pastors in coming days, asking them to preach about the possible loss of their right to preach on biblical truths and what that would mean.
The endorsement by DeMint is a huge turnaround for the campaign against "hate crimes," which before today had not seen a single senator stand up and announce a formal opposition to the plan.
"Everyone else that we talked to either said or implied that it is a lost cause," Scarborough said.
But he noted the Old Testament story of King David, while still a youth, taking on the Philistines' champion Goliath.
"For every other warrior, the battle against the Philistines was unwinnable," he said. "David dropped what he was doing and when he did the whole nation got its courage."
"Jim DeMint is going to give a lot of courage to other senators out there," Scarborough said.
.
Wild Thing's comment.........
God bless Sen. Jim DeMint as he does this, we need a lot more joining him and the others.
It really shocks me that we as a country would even allow anyone to put this Pedophile ACT into the hate crimes to protect pedophiles. NO Republican voted for this protection being the in Hate Crimes bill and almost all of the democrats want it in there.
So all we can take from this is that these democrat politicians are all for child molesters!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Senate Receives 200K Letters Regarding Hate Bill Section S. 909
'Pedophile Protection Act' stirs 200K letters to Senate
Congressman: 'Hate crimes' would 'break' Constitution
The "hate crimes" plan pending in the Senate that has been dubbed the "Pedophile Protection Act" would "break" the U.S. Constitution if adopted and enforced, according to an Arizona congressman. And citizens are expressing their concern by dispatching hundreds of thousands of letters to senators.
U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., was interviewed today on WND columnist Janet Porter's radio program for the Faith2Action Christian ministry.
"They have to necessarily break the Constitution for this bill to have any effect," Franks said.
An analysis by Shawn D. Akers, policy analyst with Liberty Counsel, said the proposal, formally known as H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act bill in the House and S. 909 in the Senate, would create new federal penalties against those whose "victims" were chosen based on an "actual or perceived… sexual orientation, gender identity."
Americans, meanwhile, are bombarding members of the Senate with their opposition to the "Pedophile Protection Act."
Porter organized the effort to utilize reduced rates for individual letters delivered by Fed Ex to individual senators in bulk quantities. Overnight letters not only have more impact, but can be assured of delivery in time to impact pending legislation.
More than 2,000 people have utilized the procedures and more than 200,000 letters have been dispatched to members of the Senate.
In part, the letter says:
"I am writing to urge you to do all in your power to oppose passage of S.909, also known as 'The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act.'
"Passage of this bill by the U.S. Senate would be reckless and irresponsible not only because of the 'chilling effect' it would have on First Amendment-guaranteed rights to free speech, but also because it would provide, for the first time ever, special legal protections for pedophiles and other sexual offenders.
"If there was ever a time for the Senate to stand and fight with a filibuster, that time is now. We are calling for members of the Senate, Republicans and Democrats alike, to stop S. 909.

S. 909 Pedophile Protection Act
Democrats Ensure Hate Crimes Bill Includes Protecting Pedophiles
As expected with the creeping incrementalism of the degradation of morality in America, under this sinister bill that accompanies H.R. 1913 (Hate Crimes Bill), S. 909 will give heightened protection to pedophiles.
Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa said: "As the bill stands, if it passes for law, if you catch an adult in the act of raping a child, and use force to remove that person from the child, the pedophile can turn around and accuse you of assault, and claim it was a hate crime."
Wild Thing's comment........
The Democrats were caught red-handed trying to pass special rights legislation for pedophiles. Of course the liberal media is not reporting about it, but we can still get the word out.
All of this and everything Obama and the democrats have been doing really is beyond the pale and insane. They have no integrity or conscience as to right and wrong at all. And not to want to protect innocent children is sickening.

Congress Votes to Protect Pedophiles, But Not Veterans
Congress votes to protect pedophiles, but not veterans ( regarding the Hate Crime iBill H.R. 1913)
This is really kind of mind numbing and demonstrates what is wrong with Congress.
During a House Judiciary Committee meeting, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) offered up an amendment to the hate crimes bill to exclude pedophiles from being a protected category under the hate crimes legislation.
Every single Democrat voted it down.
In the same meeting, Congressman Tom Rooney (R-FL) offered an amendment to include veterans as a class protected under the hate crimes bill. Not only did the Democrats vote it down, but Cogresswoman Debbie Waasserman Schultz attacked the Republicans for even thinking veterans might need protection under hate crimes legislation. After all, who but Democrats in Congress hate veterans?
Wild Thing's comment........
If anyone questions whether these Democrats are on the side of evil this settles the matter. The direction the government is headed now that was to be expected. Every devant and perverse act known to man and some that are not will soon be legal and protected by law. Only those who speak out against them will be prosecuted.
I don’t care what these congress pukes put into law. I will continue to practice the truth and speak it.

Next on Senate agenda? 'Pedophile Protection Act'
Next on Senate agenda? 'Pedophile Protection Act'
'Hate crimes' law definitions would protect 547 sex 'philias'
The leader of a pro-family organization says families across the nation need to contact their U.S. senators now to try to derail a legislative plan that already has passed the U.S. House and is being awaited by President Obama – after a Democrat confirmed that it would protect "all 547 forms of sexual deviancy or 'paraphilias' listed by the American Psychiatric Association."
Janet Porter, who also heads the Faith2Action.org Christian ministry, today cited S. 909, dubbed the "Pedophile Protection Act" as an extreme danger to America.
As H.R. 1913, the House version of the so-called "hate crimes" bill was adopted on a 149-175 vote, but not before several amendments were proposed by Republicans trying to mitigate the impact of the draconian law.
Democratic Sens. Edward Kennedy and Patrick Leahy immediately introduced a matching plan in the U.S. Senate, and activists say a vote in committee could come as early as tomorrow.
The proposal, formally called the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act after a Wyoming homosexual who was killed in a horrific robbery and beating in 1998, creates a special class for homosexuals and others with alternative sexual lifestyles and provides them protections against so-called "hate."
It specifically denies such protections to other targeted classes of citizens such as pastors, Christians, missionaries, veterans and the elderly.
Wrote Porter, "I've written extensively about how this bill would criminalize Christianity and turn those who disagree with the homosexual agenda into felons, but criminalizing Christianity is just the beginning of what this bill would do. It would also elevate pedophiles as a special protected class – since the term 'sexual orientation' which has been added to the 'hate crimes' legislation includes them in the American Psychiatric Association's definition of various 'sexual orientations."
Porter cited the amendment offering from Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, in committee that was very simple:
The term sexual orientation as used in this act or any amendments to this act does not include pedophilia.
But majority Democrats refused to accept that.
Congressman Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, then explained what that means, Porter wrote.
There are only 242 crimes where there is actually some – truly – an assault, and we just rejected an amendment to including pedophilia from being a part of this protected class. Do you realize what that means?
If a mother hears that their child has been raped and she slaps the assailant with her purse, she is now gone after as a hate criminal because this is a protected class. There are other protected classes in here. I mean simple exhibitionism. I have female friends who have told me over the years that some guy flashed them, and their immediate reaction was to hit them with their purse. Well now, he's committed a misdemeanor, she has committed a federal hate crime because the exhibitionism is protected under sexual orientation.
I know my friend said that we have a definition in the law, but there is nothing in this bill that references the definitions in the Hate Crimes Statistical Act…it's not there. We asked that it be added so we could get a specific definition. It is not there.
And having reviewed cases as an appellate judge, I know that when the legislature has the chance to include a definition and refuses, then what we look at is the plain meaning of those words. The plain meaning of sexual orientation is anything to which someone is orientated. That could include exhibitionism, it could include necrophilia (sexual arousal/activity with a corpse) … it could include Urophilia (sexual arousal associated with urine), voyeurism. You see someone spying on you changing clothes and you hit them, they've committed a misdemeanor, you've committed a federal felony under this bill. It is so wrong.
King, Porter wrote, also told the full U.S. House that the APA has a list of 547 different "paraphilias" that would be protected by members of Congress under the "hate crimes" plan.
U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., a "hate crimes" supporter, agreed, saying:
This bill addresses our resolve to end violence based on prejudice and to guarantee that all Americans regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability or all of these 'Philias' and fetishes and 'ism's' that were put forward need not live in fear because of who they are. I urge my colleagues to vote in favor of this rule…"
Porter said families, parents, Americans, anyone interested in the future of the nation, needs to contact their members in the Senate and demand hearings, then demand a filibuster.
"Pushing away an unwelcome advance of a homosexual, transgendered, cross-dresser or exhibitionist could make you a felon under this law. Speaking out against the homosexual agenda could also make you a felon if you are said to influence someone who pushes away that unwelcome advance. And pedophiles and other sexual deviants would enjoy an elevated level of protection while children, seniors, veterans, and churches would not," Porter said.
The "hate crimes" proposal not only sets up criminal charges against those whose actions or words offend homosexuals but also provides money "to improve the education and training of local officials to identify, investigate, prosecute and prevent hate crimes."
President Obama, supported strongly during his campaign by homosexual advocates, appears ready to respond to their desires.
"I urge members on both sides of the aisle to act on this important civil rights issue by passing this legislation to protect all of our citizens from violent acts of intolerance," he said.
Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., said H.R. 1913 will create "thought crimes," and U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., said it will end equality in the U.S.
Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel has spoken out against H.R. 1913 a number of times.
"As has proved to be true in both Europe and Canada, this Orwellian piece of legislation is the direct precursor to freedom killing and speech chilling 'hate speech' laws. It represents a thinly veiled effort to ultimately silence – under penalty of law – morally, medically and biblically based opposition to the homosexual lifestyle," he said.
.
Wild Thing's comment..........
We officially have the Congress from HELL. Satan himself couldn’t plan evil as well.
They are saying that any orientation will become federally protected. Saying something derogatory about a convicted child rapist will be a hate crime.
Last Wednesday I posted the video of Rep. King speaking out about how awful this bill is and specifically this part of it. He had offered an amendment that barred pedophiles from receiving special protection. Democrats said no.

Obama's War on Free Speech
Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are intent on nationalizing media in the U.S. much the same way they nationalized the U.S. auto industry and the nation's banking and financial institutions.
This isn't the so-called "Fairness Doctrine."
It's much worse.
Here's what you can expect in the coming weeks and months:
* a new appointment to the position of chairman of the Federal Communications Commission who will implement a plan to create "community advisory boards" of community activists to monitor the content of talk-radio programs, threatening stations that carry dissenting content with broadcast license challenges;
* billions of additional dollars to be invested in so-called "public broadcasting" – those entities already funded and controlled by government;
* bailouts of failing newspapers perceived as essential propaganda tools for the party.
It's a program worthy of the old Soviet Union – where the old joke noted there was no truth in Pravda and no news in Izvestia.
But this is no joking matter.
The First Amendment is at stake.
The FCC is currently composed of two Democrat and two Republican commissioners. Obama has nominated a new chairman, Julius Genachowski, which would give Democrats a 3-2 majority once he is confirmed.
But the nominee is not just another Democrat. He's a Democrat with a plan.
Genachowski advocates creating new media ownership rules that promote a diversity of voices on the airwaves. In fact, Genachowski is credited with helping craft the Obama technology agenda, which states:
"Encourage diversity in the ownership of broadcast media, promote the development of new media outlets for expression of diverse viewpoints, and clarify the public interest obligations of broadcasters who occupy the nation's spectrum."
Translation? Government control of broadcast media – particularly the kind of talk radio Democrats find so annoying.
The party in power wants to remain in power perpetually. And to do so, like so many other power-hungry parties of the past, it seeks to control the debate and stifle dissent.
Because the party in power looks to National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System as the models of fairness and balance, look for massive new "investments" in these official voices.
And, lastly, look for the bailout model to be used to keep the party's choice newspapers on life support.
Just last week, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., all but assured employees of the deeply troubled Boston Globe, a newspaper owned by the New York Times, that he will not allow the paper to go out of business despite falling revenues.
All of these may seem like unrelated developments. But they are not. They are part of a sophisticated plan to socialize the media – preserving with taxpayer dollars failing media institutions that support the party in power and using the coercive power of government to crush those media institutions that are critical of the party in power.
The plot was not hatched inside the White House or even in the halls of Congress. It was developed by John Nichols of the Nation magazine and Robert McChesney, a self-described neo-Marxist media theoretician.
The essence of their program – "the need to promote an understanding of the urgency to assert public control over the media."
"Our claim is simply that the media system produces vastly less quality than it would if corporate and commercial pressures were lessened," they wrote in "Our Media, Not Theirs: The Democratic Struggle Against Corporate Media."
Amazingly, they cite the founders' commitment to a free press as their inspiration.
I guess they forgot to absorb the literal meaning of the First Amendment that begins: "Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech or of the press. …"
That's the origin of the game plan.
You can watch it unfold soon.
Or, you can put your foot down and say boldly, "Not with my money, you don't."
Wild Thing's comment........
Hussein and his people understand the First and Second Amendments, implicitly. What they understand the most, is that those Rights stand in their path to totalitarian rule. As such, they also understand that those amendments must be subverted, any way possible. Without free speech, there is no true dissent. Without dissent, Obama has total control.

Hate Crimes Bill H.R. 1913 Threatens Innocent Americans
Rep King discusses the Hate Crimes bill....Kings Amendment was shot down by the Democrats!
Congressman Steve King discusses the 'Hate Crimes' bill during the House floor debate on April 29, 2009.
King also offered an amendment that barred pedophiles from receiving special protection. Democrats said no.
"Because there is not definition of sexual orientation included within this law, under hate crimes bill H.R.1913, if a mother hits a perpetrator after discovering that they were molesting her child, she would be considered a hate criminal. If a man flashes a woman and she slaps him, she could be charged with a federal felony, and the man with a misdemeanor. This is clearly wrong."
The committee rejected a number of amendments offered by several members seeking to protect religious liberty, to protect the unborn, to protect against violence by illegal aliens, and to clarify the bill's meanings of "gender identity" and "sexual orientation."

Hate Crimes Bill H.R. 1913 Primed For House Debate
Congressman Rooney offered an amendment asking that veterans be added to the list of protected under the act.
Enter Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz.......
Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz says veterans are not "real victims" of hate crimes during a Judiciary Committee markup of H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Act of 2009.
Philadelphia Newspaper .....The Bulletin
A federal bill that would amend the hate crimes law to include crimes against people due to their sexual orientation, was approved late last week by the House Judiciary Committee, clearing the way for the bill’s consideration by the full House of Representatives.
The bill, also known as the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, passed the Judiciary Committee by a vote of 15-12. The bill is similar to one that was passed by the House two years ago and has received criticism from those concerned that the legislation could be used to persecute Christians who do not approve of homosexual practices.
The Judiciary Committee rejected a number of amendments offered by several congressman seeking to protect religious liberty, to protect the unborn, to protect against violence by illegal aliens and to clarify the bill’s meanings of “gender identity” and “sexual orientation.” One of the rejected amendments, offered by Congressman Gohmert of Texas, sought to ensure that ministers could not be prosecuted for abetting a hate crime simply because they preach from the Bible.
“The federal hate crimes bill is bad news for everyone,” said Pacific Justice Institute President Brad Dacus, who testified against the bill two years ago. “Instead of treating all crime victims equally, it creates a caste system where select groups, such as gays and lesbians, are given greater priority in the criminal justice system.
“This is not progress; it is political correctness. In other nations and states, the adoption of hate crimes legislation has been the first step toward widespread suppression of speech and ideas critical of homosexuality.”
The House could debate the bill as early as this week, and President Barack Obama is expected to sign the measure if it reaches his desk.
.
Wild Thing's comment........
We have such an awesome Constitution, and I will never understand in a gazillion years why the left hates it so much. And we have had the best country in the entire world, no other country can compare to the United States of America, so that too I will never comprehend the reason why so many want to change it in any way.
This administration is not intent on wiping out militant Islamism; they are intent on wiping out any opposition to them in this country. They are more concerned with control of the right, keeping us silent, and not allowing us to speak out.
I am grateful to the voices that have spoken up to the left, few I know but at least some have. I hope and pray this bill will be stopped.

Hate Crimes Bill ~ H.R. 1913 ~ Attacks Free Speech
H.R. 1913 Local Law Enforcement and Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009
Our worst nightmare - hate crimes legislation. This will undo us. The line in the sand is free speech. And this is an attack on free speech. The war is lost, America is lost, all is lost if we lose free speech - even speech we do not like.
This is the most dangerous piece of legislation Americans face. What is hate speech? Who decides? This is an overthrow of the first amendment.
Clearly the clergy hates it, because they will prosecute priests for preaching against homosexuality, but they will not prosecute imams for inciting jihad and Islamic Jew hatred.
Violence against anyone for any reason should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Why introduce the 'hate' aspect?
Sponsored by classic America hater and left/fascist Rep. John Conyers [D, MI-14] - this bill must be voted down.
Please write/call/fax your Congressman.
The bill, H.R. 1913, is named the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act. As of Tuesday the bill already had 42 co-sponsors.
Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009
U.S. Representative, Barney Frank, announced Thursday that the House Judiciary Committee will be considering hate crimes legislation, H.R. 1913, this coming week of April 20. Frank is expecting the committee to pass the bill which would leave it in the House to vote on later this spring, according to a news release issued by Barney Frank on his website last week.*
The bill, H.R. 1913, is named the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act. As of Tuesday the bill already had 42 co-sponsors. The bill was introduced into the House on April 2 by U.S. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
"All freedom loving Americans must voice their opposition to this bill," said Dr. Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. "If this bill passes it lays the foundation for censoring Christians. In other countries, Like in Canada and Sweden, where these types of hate crime laws have been implemented, pastors and Christians have been jailed and fined for their faithful adherence to the biblical values."
US Congressman John Conyers reintroduced the same bill that passed in 2007. The bill was passed in less than one hour before any opposition could be mounted. It was eventually vetoed by President Bush. President Obama has expressed his support of hate crime legislation and is expected to sign the bill if passed.

And remember this that I posted about during the election campaign.........
Obama Truth Squad ~ Obama Prosecutors will "prosecute you for "lies" about Obama"
St. Louis TV station reports a group known as the Barack Obama Truth Squad is coming under fire because a number of state prosecutors and sheriffs have joined and may crack down on free speech. KMOV-TV says the group was set up to respond to advertisements and statements about Obama it considers misleading and possible violations of the state's ethics laws.
Missouri Republican Governor Matt Blunt says, "What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous... the only conceivable purpose... is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate." And the conservative Americans Issues Project says Obama is carrying out a campaign of what it calls "legal intimidation."
Meanwhile, KMOV-TV has been inundated with calls from angry viewers as far away as New York and Florida. The station reports many are expressing concern that people could be prosecuted for stating their political views.
.
Wild Thing's comment...........
Let's say someone is listening to a sermon on homosexuality on a Sunday morning, and decides to turn in that pastor for what they think is a hate crime. Under that bill, the pastor would be subject to prosecution, by law. Let's say a parent teaches their child that homosexuality is wrong. If that child goes to school and tells a teacher about it, the teacher would have the right to have the parent prosecuted. Further, let's say you believe that Islam is a religion and culture that is based on violence. Under that bill, if you share that belief, you could be turned in and prosecuted for a perceived hate crime. Regardless of what anyone believes about any particular issue, we all should have the right to our opinions and beliefs, without intrusion by our government.
This bill really is insidious, as it is telling you and me what we can and cannot talk about...or think about...in our daily lives.
In reading the bill it also might be the Islam Protection Act to allow further invasion.
Our Nation the left anyway, has turned it's back on God and now with Obama it is turning it's back on Israel.
This legislation is about as Orwellian as it gets. And this bill is grossly unconstitutional.
Obama has expressed eagerness to place sexual orientation discrimination on a par with that of religion and race, and pledged his support for the earlier incarnation of the bill. ( source)
When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny.
