Jonah Goldberg has been a critic of the Trump for a while, to the point where the Donald had to lash out at him on Twitter. Last night on Fox News he got the chance to explain why the Donald is symbolic of a justified rage among the base, but just not a great leader for it.

Classless Trump Lawyer Michael Cohen Threatened Liberal News Site With for ‘Rape’ Story

A lawyer for Donald Trump threatened a reporter with what he described would amount to a “f***ing disgusting” consequence if the journalist published a story about sexual assault accusations reportedly once made by the Republican hopeful’s ex-wife.

“You write a story that has Mr. Trump’s name in it, with the word ‘rape,’ and I’m going to mess your life up…for as long as you’re on this frickin’ planet … you’re going to have judgments against you, so much money, you’ll never know how to get out from underneath it,” Michael Cohen, special counsel to Trump, told The Daily Beast reporter Tim Mak.

Cohen was referring to accusations Ivana Trump reportedly made about a 1989 incident. During a deposition, reported on in 1993 book “Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump,” Ivana alleged that Donald became upset after a painful surgery to remove a bald spot and confronted her because she had previously used the same surgeon.

Claiming “your f***ing doctor has ruined me,” Trump violently sexually assaulted Ivana, she reportedly said during the deposition. Trump has denied the accusation.

Asked about the deposition Monday, Cohen told the liberal-leaning news outlet that “it’s not the word you’re trying to make it into.” He added that Ivana “felt raped emotionally…she was not referring to it [as] a criminal matter, and not in its literal sense, though there’s many literal senses to the word.”

“You cannot rape your spouse,” Cohen continued. “There’s very clear case law.”

Trump’s lawyer then threatened Mak if he were to publish the story.

“I will make sure that you and I meet one day while we’re in the courthouse. And I will take you for every penny you still don’t have. And I will come after your Daily Beast and everybody else that you possibly know,” Cohen said. “So I’m warning you, tread very f****ing lightly, because what I’m going to do to you is going to be f***ing disgusting. You understand me?”

He added to The Daily Beast, “There is nothing reasonable about you wanting to write a story about somebody’s usage of the word ‘rape,’ when she’s talking [about] she didn’t feel emotionally satisfied.”

“Though there’s many literal senses to the word, if you distort it, and you put Mr. Trump’s name there onto it, rest assured, you will suffer the consequences. So you do whatever you want. You want to ruin your life at the age of 20? You do that, and I’ll be happy to serve it right up to you,” he continued.

“I think you should go ahead and you should write the story that you plan on writing. I think you should do it. Because I think you’re an idiot. And I think your paper’s a joke, and it’s going to be my absolute pleasure to serve you with a $500 million lawsuit, like I told [you] I did it to Univision,” Cohen added.

ABC: Michael Cohen "is a registered Democrat who voted for Barack Obama in 2008."

Sorry to those that want Trump, but choosing Trump is just as stupid as choosing Obama. We know what happens when we elect based on “cool” and this is not cool. Yes this is an old story and said by an angry wife in a divorce but rape is still rape even if married to the person so this lawyer is wrong.

Plus one other thing, I would hate to have this lawyer in our WH, we already experiences what it is like to have Eric Holder and his threats to we the people. Remember when the Black Panthers threatened votes and it was pushed aside by Obama's lawyers. It would be the same kind of pushing us aside if we had a complaint about Trump if he got elected.

I think Trump will implode…He already is, he may be high in the polls of Trump fans wanting him for president, but the other polls asking do you like him as a person he is also at the top of NOT liking him. So that is important to know too.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan expressed contempt for the American flag Wednesday, telling hundreds gathered in a D.C. church that it is a symbol of racism and needs to be brought down.

The controversial figure spoke at the Metropolitan AME Church, just one week after a white male shot and killed nine individuals at a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina.

“White folks march with you because they don’t want you upset in the city,” Farrakhan said during his speech, a portion which was published online by WMAL. “They don’t give a damn about them nine. When they arrested that skunk …. they took him to the Burger King.”

“Man just killed nine human beings, and you know what they were saying? ‘You did a good job. Kill all them n******!’” he added.

Farrakhan then took aim at the American flag.

“I don’t know what the hell the fight is about over the Confederate flag! We need to put the American flag down because we’ve caught as much hell under that as the Confederate flag!” he said.

“Who are we fighting today? It’s the people that carry the American flag,” Farrakhan continued. “What flag do the police have? What flag flies over the non-Justice Department? What flag flies over the White House?”

The Nation of Islam leader said that taking the Confederate flag is “easy,” but not enough.

On Tuesday, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh made a prediction that the American flag would “come under assault” after the Confederate flag. At the time he said, “Do not doubt me.”

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has denied The Des Moines Register press credentials to gain access to a candidate event scheduled for Saturday in Oskaloosa.

The reason: an editorial published by the newspaper last Tuesday calling on Trump to quit the Republican race.

Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich was informed Friday that she had been denied a credential to the event, a “family picnic” featuring Trump that will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the George Daily Community Auditorium in Oskaloosa.

Trump’s national campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, told Obradovich in a phone call that the Register was being excluded from the event because of the editorial.

The Register’s editorial board operates independently from the editors and reporters who conduct political coverage.

In a subsequent conversation with the Register’s chief political reporter, Jennifer Jacobs, Lewandowski reiterated that news staffers were being denied access because of the editorial.

“We’re not issuing credentials to anyone from The Des Moines Register based on the editorial that they wrote earlier in the week,” he said.

Lewandowski said he expected the campaign would consider allowing the Register to attend events at some point in the future.

At Least 6 People Shot At Louisiana Movie Theater, Gunman Dead

A gunman opened fire on Thursday at a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana, wounding six people, before he took his own life, USA Today reported, citing police.

Lafayette police could not immediately be reached for comment but said in a tweet that they were “working a shooting at the Grand Theater on Johnston Street” and that it involved multiple victims.

The local Advertiser newspaper reported that the gunfire broke out during a 7 p.m. showing of the film “Train Wreck.”

Witness Katie Domingue told the paper that the gunman was an older white man who stood up in the theater and began shooting.

“He wasn’t saying anything. I didn’t hear anybody screaming either,” Domingue said.

“Prayers for Lafayette at Grand Theater. Talking to state police colonel about shooting in Lafayette,” Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said in a tweet.

Lafayette is a city of some 120,000 people located roughly 55 miles (90 km) southwest of Baton Rouge.

If you look at the full footage of the entire conversation she actually describes the current biotech company that the Planned Parenthood clinic that she works at in Los Angeles is partnering with. It’s a company called Novagenics Laboratories and Planned Parenthood in Los Angeles routinely, for many years actually, has been supplying their aborted fetal parts to that company… It’s legal to donate human organs under current law. It is not legal to sell human body parts whether they are adult or fetal at any age. But Planned Parenthood has been involved in selling the baby body parts from babies they abort for decades now.

Planned Parenthood admitted in the video released yesterday that they get $30 to $100 for each baby body part.
This is illegal.

This is all at the feet of democrats, they are the ones that demanded abortions, they are the ones that demanded late term abortion like Obama has done for example. They are the ones that get ticked off if they are told abortion is wrong but at the same time they want to allow killers to go free or be kept alive in prison instead of the death penalty.

This is so upsetting what Planned Parenthood has been doing and it is a huge favorite of the jerk Obama's.

Sanders Says Redistribution More Important Than Growth, gets agreement from The Washington Post

Socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders believes that redistribution is more important than economic growth. Sanders obviously doesn’t understand economics or America, even at the advanced age of 73.

The Washington Post posted an approving piece today about what presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is willing to sacrifice to achieve “a more equal society” – economic growth.

Jim Tankersley, who covers economic policy for WaPo, is excited about Sanders’ maverick “unorthodoxy” that is tapping into “the mounting frustration in America, particularly among more liberal voters, with the widening gap between the rich and everyone else.”

“Our economic goals have to be redistributing a significant amount of [wealth] back from the top 1 percent,” Sanders said in a recent interview. “Unchecked growth – especially when 99 percent of all new income goes to the top 1 percent – is absurd”:

Where we’ve got to move is not growth for the sake of growth, but we’ve got to move to a society that provides a high quality of life for all of our people. In other words, if people have health care as a right, as do the people of every other major country, then there’s less worry about growth. If people have educational opportunity and their kids can go to college and they have child care, then there’s less worry about growth for the sake of growth.

Tankersley asserts that “many liberal economists, including some close to [Hillary] Clinton, contend that some policies designed to reduce inequality will in fact spur faster growth.”

Socialist Sanders has “an agenda,” Tankersley continues, “that includes sharply raising tax rates on the highest earners, increasing government spending by $1 trillion to rebuild infrastructure and create millions of jobs, and renegotiating America’s international trade agreements in hopes of boosting domestic workers.”

Donald Trump, the reality TV host and real estate mogul running for the Republican presidential nomination, once said we should make health care an entitlement and that health care coverage should be universal.

Speaking with CNN host Larry King in 1999 when he was flirting with a run for president on the Reform Party ticket, Trump said he was “quite liberal” when it came to health care.

“I said I’m conservative, generally speaking, I’m conservative, and even very conservative,” Trump told King in response to a question about a “patients’ bill of rights.”

“But I’m quite liberal and getting much more liberal on health care and other things. I really say: What’s the purpose of a country if you’re not going to have defensive and health care?’

Trump added believed in “universal health care.”

“If you can’t take care of your sick in the country, forget it, it’s all over. I mean, it’s no good. So I’m very liberal when it comes to health care,” he said. “I believe in universal health care. I believe in whatever it takes to make people well and better.”

Asked if he thought it was an entitlement, Trump affirmed he did indeed believe it was one from birth.

“I think it is. It’s an entitlement to this country, and too bad the world can’t be, you know, in this country. But the fact is, it’s an entitlement to this country if we’re going to have a great country.”

Speaking with The Advocate that year, Trump said he’d fund his universal health care plan with an increase in corporate taxes.

“I would put forward a comprehensive health care program and fund it with an increase in corporate taxes,” Trump said.

In his 2000 book, The America We Deserve, Trump also spoke favorably of the Canadian health care system and said he “we need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing.”

On Dateline NBC that year, Trump also mentioned he was “totally for choice” when it came to abortion.

“I hate the concept of abortion,” said Trump. “I hate—, I hate anything about abortion, and yet, I’m totally for choice. I think you have no alternative, too.

In a free market, there’s a pretty simple process for dealing with the situation that arises when one person covets another’s belongings: The coveter makes an offer to purchase them. If the offer is rebuffed, the coveter can make a new proposal, but he cannot simply take what he wants. It’s an effective way of recognizing the impracticality of the Tenth Commandment while enforcing the Eighth.

Donald Trump’s covetous nature is not in dispute, but what many may forget is that he’s no great respecter of the admonition not to steal, either: The man has a track record of using the government as a hired thug to take other people’s property.

This is called, of course, “eminent domain.” The Constitution’s Fifth Amendment allows the government to take private property for “public use,” so long as “just compensation” is paid. In the infamous 2005 Kelo decision, the Supreme Court held that “public use” could include, well, private use, so long as the new property owner paid more in taxes than the previous one. In other words, it allowed developers and the government to gang up on homeowners. The developer gets more land, the government gets more tax money. The only losers are the original owner and his property rights.

A decade and a half ago, it was fresh on everyone’s mind that Donald Trump is one of the leading users of this form of state-sanctioned thievery. It was all over the news. In perhaps the most-remembered example, John Stossel got the toupéed one to sputter about how, if he wasn’t allowed to steal an elderly widow’s house to expand an Atlantic City casino, the government would get less tax money, and seniors like her would get less “this and that.” Today, however, it takes a push from the Club for Growth to remind us of Trump’s lack of respect for property rights.

The problem dates back to at least 1994. That year, Trump promised to turn Bridgeport, Conn., into“a national tourist destination by building a $350 million combined amusement park, shipping terminal and seaport village and office complex on the east side of the harbor,” reported the Hartford Courant. “At a press conference during which almost every statement contained the term ‘world class,’ Trump and Mayor Joseph Ganim lavished praise on one another and the development project and spoke of restoring Bridgeport to its glory days.”

The wrinkle? “Five businesses and the city-owned Pleasure Beach now occupy the land,” as the Courant put it. The solution? “The city would become a partner with Trump Connecticut Inc. and obtain the land through its powers of condemnation. Trump would in turn buy the land from the city.”

Here’s how the story concluded: “The entire development would cost the city nothing, Trump said, and no private homeowners would be affected because there are no dwellings on the land. Trump would own everything.”

That brings us to the story of the aforementioned elderly widow in Atlantic City, which starts at about the same time. The woman, Vera Coking, had owned property near the Trump Plaza Hotel for three decades, and didn’t want to move. Trump thought the land was better suited for use as a park, a parking lot, and a waiting area for limousines.

He tried to negotiate, at one point offering Coking $1 million for the land. But she wasn’t budging. So New Jersey’s Casino Reinvestment Development Authority filed a lawsuit, instructing Coking to leave within 90 days and offering compensation of only $251,000.

Perhaps the only upside to this story is that in neither case did Trump succeed. The Bridgeport plan fizzled. Coking fought in court, and — in part because these were the days before Kelo was decided, no doubt — she was lucky enough to win. In 1998, a judge threw out the case.

In 2005, however, Trump was delighted to find that the Supreme Court had okayed the brand of government-abetted theft that he’d twice attempted. “I happen to agree with it 100 percent,” he told Fox News’s Neil Cavuto of the Kelo decision.

Can Republicans support someone with so little regard for the property of others? Let’s hope not.

A radical leader of an anti-American, racist, paramilitary organization told an enthusiastic crowd that they can “strap up” with weapons “for only a couple of hundred dollars” and received applause when she said she planned to establish a Charleston chapter of the group.

The remarks—delivered about a block from the church where white racist Dylann Roof allegedly murdered nine black churchgoers—came at the same Tuesday night New Black Panther Party (NBPP) rally where one speaker declared “this is war” and where NBPP leader Malik Zulu Shabazz told the all-black audience of about 250 that “we need to complete” the work of a former slave who wanted to kill as many white people as possible in a revolt.

U.S. Army defends past use of Confederate soldiers in base names

The Army on Wednesday defended its past practice of naming forts and posts after Confederate Army generals, saying they memorialize historic figures, “not causes or ideologies.”

The issue arose following the deadly church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, and amid debate over Confederate flags and other symbols of the Confederacy. Numerous Army posts in the South are named for Confederate soldiers.

The Army’s top spokesman, Brig. Gen. Malcolm B. Frost, issued a brief statement in the aftermath of questions about whether the military ought to consider changing the name of bases like Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which is named after the man who led the Confederate Army of Tennessee, Gen. Braxton Bragg.

“Every Army installation is named for a soldier who holds a place in our military history,” Frost said. “Accordingly, these historic names represent individuals, not causes or ideologies. It should be noted that the naming occurred in the spirit of reconciliation, not division.”

According to the Army’s Center of Military History, the earliest official policy on the naming of posts and forts is found in War Department General Order Number 11, dated Feb. 8, 1832. It said, “All new posts which may be hereafter established, will receive their names from the War Department, and be announced in General Orders from the Headquarters of the Army.”

In the World War II era of 1939-1946, almost all military installations designated as forts or camps were named after distinguished military individuals, including veterans of the Confederate Army, according to the Center for Military History.

Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said Wednesday that he is unaware of any discussion within the Defense Department about changing the names of bases that memorialize Confederate soldiers. He said it was a matter for the individual services, not the Defense Department.

We’re seeing it all over the place in a media frenzy that began with a cause I agree with (removing Confederate Flags from state capitols) into what is now a full-blown mob waging a bullying witch hunt to completely memory-hole the flag.

Wednesday, the thing that you believe could never happen, did happen: a New York film critic has called for the banning of The Greatest Movie Ever Made.

In just three days, the left’s mob mentality took us from removing the Rebel Flag from a state capitol to banning “Gone with the Wind.”

If the Confederate flag is finally going to be consigned to museums as an ugly symbol of racism, what about the beloved film offering the most iconic glimpse of that flag in American culture?

I’m talking, of course, about “Gone with the Wind[.]’’ …

But what does it say about us as a nation if we continue to embrace a movie that, in the final analysis, stands for many of the same things as the Confederate flag that flutters so dramatically over the dead and wounded soldiers at the Atlanta train station just before the “GWTW’’ intermission?

Warner Bros. just stopped licensing another of pop culture’s most visible uses of the Confederate flag — toy replicas of the General Lee, an orange Dodge Charger from “The Dukes of Hazzard’’ — as retailers like Amazon and Walmart have finally backed away from selling merchandise with that racist symbol.

That studio sent “Gone with the Wind’’ back into theaters for its 75th anniversary in partnership with its sister company Turner Classic Movies in 2014, but I have a feeling the movie’s days as a cash cow are numbered. It’s showing on July 4 at the Museum of Modern Art as part of the museum’s salute to the 100th anniversary of Technicolor — and maybe that’s where this much-loved but undeniably racist artifact really belongs.

Lumenick isn’t beating around the bush. He’s serious about calling on Warner Bros. to smother the movie outside of museum screening — a self-imposed ban, but a ban nonetheless.

This is akin to book burning. Granted, Lumenick’s not suggesting government agents kick in your door, search your house, and burn your copy “Gone With the Wind” (maybe in another 3 days). Nevertheless, he is talking about removing from the marketplace one of the most treasured pieces of cinematic art the world has ever seen.

Lumenick is also assuming the classic bigoted role of the fascist white liberal patronizing black America.

Did Lumenick ask black America’s opinion before calling for “Gone With the Wind” to be banned?

Apparently not, because in a recent poll, a whopping 73% of black Americans rated “Gone With the Wind” as “one of the best” or a “good/very good” movie.

That doesn’t matter, though. After all, Gaia created white leftists to tell those “ignorant black folk” what’s best for them.

And let’s not forget that Hattie McDaniel won a well-deserved and historic Oscar for “Gone With the Wind,” the first black actor to do so. Are we going to memory-hole her magnificent achievement?

Art is not a flag to be moved.

Art is not a symbol to be nudged.

A Fort Smith School Board committee passed a motion Tuesday (June 23) to ban the “Dixie” song during the 2015-2016 school year and to replace the rebel mascot for the 2016-2017 school year.

The motion passed five to zero. Susan McFerran, a member of the school board, said the decision comes after the mass shooting in Charleston, South Carolina and a recent class reunion.

“There was a 30 year class reunion this weekend,” she said. “It came to our attention that the public has been pretty upset about the Confederate flag, which has already been removed, the rebel mascot [and] the playing of the ‘Dixie.’”

Caleb Coleman just graduated from Southside and is against the board’s decision.

“It will be kind of different, almost like a different school I think,” he said. “All the different people that have gone through this school with athletics and different things, it will almost be like a school they didn’t play for really.”

Kelly Wingfield graduated from Southside in 1981. She remembers when the school flew the Confederate flag on campus.

“I feel like maybe it is time to get rid of it,” Wingfield said. “[For] some people it does bring bad memories of a bad time in our history. I think it would be just probably better.”

The board said they will turn to students for help in picking a new mascot and song.

“We said it will be kind of fun to have a contest to pick the new songs,” McFerran said.

The school will have to make changes to some of its uniforms.

“We’ve got the orchestra, the band, Dixie bells, the cheerleaders, football team, basketball team, softball team, soccer tennis golf,” McFerran said.

WASHINGTON — The man who shot President Ronald Reagan wants more than anything to “fit in” and be “a good citizen.” He tried to get a fast-food job, and loves to drive. His musical tastes run from Elvis and Paul McCartney to Nirvana.

John Hinckley Jr. has been barred for years from talking to the media, but court documents made available this week contain rare snippets of his voice.

A federal judge is deciding whether to allow Hinckley to live full-time outside St. Elizabeths, the mental hospital that has been his home since he was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the 1981 shooting that wounded Reagan and three others.

Hinckley has spent longer stretches of time on the outside in recent years, staying at his mother’s home in Williamsburg, Virginia, where the hospital says he’s ready to live full-time. Prosecutors have pushed for tight restrictions including wearing an ankle bracelet, a requirement the judge has dismissed in the past.

On driving, which Judge Paul L. Friedman allowed him to do unaccompanied beginning in 2014:

“I love the feeling of being able to drive on the open road. It’s so great.”

On being rejected for volunteer opportunities at a botanical garden, the local humane society and the law library at the nearby College of William & Mary:

The law library “would have been a great gig for me. But when it gets to a certain level and my name gets brought up, my reputation gets in the way and I hit another road block.”

On getting a job:

“I’d love to get a job so I can have some real income.”

On asking for jobs at Subway and Starbucks while being followed by the Secret Service:

State's attorney Mosby seeks to block release of Freddie Gray autopsy

Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby plans to seek a protective order that would block the release of Freddie Gray's autopsy report and other "sensitive" documents as she prosecutes the six police officers involved in his arrest.

Mosby told The Baltimore Sun that prosecutors "have a duty to ensure a fair and impartial process for all parties involved" and "will not be baited into litigating this case through the media."

But an attorney for one of the officers said the effort shows that "there is something in that autopsy report that they are trying to hide.

"Mrs. Mosby is the one who did an announcement discussing what she said the evidence was in a nationally televised speech," said Ivan Bates, who represents Sgt. Alicia White. "Now that it is time to turn over the evidence, to ask for a protective order is beyond disingenuous.

"It's as if she wants to do everything to make sure our clients do not get a fair trial."

Gray, 25, died in April after suffering a severe spinal cord injury in police custody. Mosby has charged the officers with violations ranging from misconduct in office to, in one case, second-degree murder. All six officers have been released on bail.

Baltimore's chief prosecutor declared her intention to seek the protective order in a court filing Monday. She also asked for more time to respond to defense motions that she and her office be removed from the case and that the case be tried outside Baltimore.

The move is the latest effort by Mosby's office to restrict information in the high-profile case. Her office has also sought a gag order to prevent participants from discussing the case in public, and has broken with a long-standing practice by not giving a copy of the autopsy report to Baltimore police.

In a response to Mosby's latest filing, defense attorneys said Wednesday that they have been denied an outline of evidence and claims against the officers, and have not been allowed to inspect a knife that was taken from Gray during his arrest.

Bates said the protective order would allow only prosecutors and defense attorneys to see the documents, and could require the court to seal all new filings that make reference to information in the documents.

In that way, he said, it would be more restrictive than a gag order.

"Nobody would know anything but the state and the defense, so they would totally hide it from the public," Bates said. "If your case is as good as you said it was, why don't you just show the evidence? … You can't holler and say, 'I'm about accountability for the citizens,' and then run around filing for a protective order."

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby charged six local police officers with murder and manslaughter in the death of serial criminal Freddie Gray on May 1.

Since the police were charged arrests in Baltimore are down by 50%.

The Baltimore Police Chief released a statement today saying the police are more afraid of going to jail in the city under the current Democratic leadership than they are of taking a bullet.

The Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police released a statement today. President Lieutenant Gene Ryan says the officers are more afraid of going to jail for doing their jobs that they are of getting shot.

The Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police said on Thursday that Baltimore’s recent rise in crime is linked to fear among police officers that they will be arrested for doing their jobs.

This fear, the union said, comes as a result of the arrests of six officers for the death of Freddie Gray. Gray was wrongly arrested and died of injuries sustained during his arrest. The State Attorney’s Office filed charges against six officers in Gray’s death.

“The criminals are taking advantage of the situation in Baltimore since the unrest. Criminals feel empowered now. There is no respect. Police are under siege in every quarter. They are more afraid of going to jail for doing their jobs properly than they are of getting shot on duty,” union president Lieutenant Gene Ryan said in a statement.

He met Columba while on an exchange program in León, Mexico. The video comes as Bush weighs a bid for president.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D) said Thursday that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 21-year-old who was convicted Wednesday for the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, should not face the death penalty.

“My heart goes out to the families here, but I don’t support the death penalty. I think he should spend his life in jail. No possibility of parole. He should die in prison,” Warren said on “CBS This Morning.”

On Wednesday, a Massachusetts jury found Tsarnaev guilty on all 30 counts he faced for the bombing that killed three people and injured more than 200.

The charges included the aftermath of the bombing, which saw a massive manhunt for Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan, who died in a firefight, along with a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer.

Warren said “no one had much doubt” about Tsarnaev’s guilt and “nothing is ever going to make those who were injured whole.”

“But this is a step toward justice and now we go to the penalty phase,” she said.

Tsarnaev could face the death penalty on 17 of the charges. Warren maintained that a life sentence in prison would mean “he’s not a part of the ongoing story” about the bombing.

A newly formed “activist” group working under the name “Disarm NYPD” is aiming to do much more than disarm the police. According to the site “Waging Nonviolence,” the group hopes to not only strip police of their firearms but use pressure to drive law enforcement out of neighborhoods entirely.

“Then, within these spaces, the group wants to help residents form conflict-resolution bodies to make police obsolete and to build councils and networks to enable local communities to organize their own lives,” writes Ashoka Jegroo.

Jose LaSalle’s Copwatch Patrol Unit is currently training a new crop of “cop watchers” in hopes that police “will become more hesitant to abuse their power and even retreat from neighborhoods because they don’t want to be incessantly monitored.” The end goal is to stop the New York Police Department from ever killing anyone again.

Charles Krauthammer called Sen. Harry Reid “a disgrace” to the institution he led until the GOP won it back in November.

Appearing on “Special Report,” Krauthammer told guest host Shannon Bream that Reid was a disgrace because he “emasculated” the chamber “in the name of protecting” President Obama and his agenda.

A Democratic bill unveiled this week would allow former convicted felons released from prison to vote in federal elections.

The measure would create a uniform federal standard applicable to ex-felons who are no longer in prison. It would not apply to state elections.

Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee and lead sponsor of the bill, said it would help former criminal offenders reintegrate into civil society. He also noted that preventing former prisoners from voting disproportionately affects racial minorities.
Nearly six million Americans cannot vote because of a felony conviction.

“Just as poll taxes and literacy tests prevented an entire class of citizens, namely African Americans, from integrating into society after centuries of slavery, ex-offender disenfranchisement laws prevent people from reintegrating into society after they have paid their debt by serving time in prison,” Conyers said in a statement.

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), who sponsored the Senate version of the bill, said the proposal would reduce confusion from varying state laws allowing ex-felons to participate in federal elections.

“State disenfranchisement laws deny citizens participation in our democracy and the patchwork of laws leads to an unfair disparity and unequal participation in federal elections based solely on where an individual lives, in addition to the racial disparities inherent in our judicial system,” Cardin said.

Senate Democrats blocked legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security for the fifth time on Monday, leaving just four days before DHS funding expires, and with no apparent way forward to break the deadlock.

Republicans have insisted that the Senate should take up the House-passed bill for weeks, but Democrats have refused because they oppose language that would defund President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration.

Monday evening, the Senate voted 47-46 to move the bill ahead, but because 60 votes were needed, the majority vote wasn’t enough to advance the legislation. That reflects the same lack of Democratic support as three prior roll call votes — Democrats also blocked a unanimous consent request to get on the bill earlier in the month. […]

On Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson declared flatly that “Democrats are not blocking debate.”

But in terms of what is physically happening on the Senate floor, it’s clearly the Democrats who are preventing the Senate from taking up the House-passed DHS bill. The Democratic opposition could reflect their belief that they wouldn’t be able to amend the bill to strip out the immigration defunding language.

The founders separated the Executive from the Legislative authority in the Constitution. Yet here not only is the President fighting against the Constitution but so are the Democrats in Congress. Hence, the Dems reveal themselves to be not only stubbornly partisan on this issue, but also anti-Constitution.

A Florida high school student was disciplined after a national atheist organization took offense when he concluded the morning announcements by saying “God Bless America.”

A spokesperson for the Nassau County School District told me the student at Yulee High School deviated from the approved script on the morning of Feb. 9th and uttered the words “God Bless America” — apparently causing angst among two atheist students.

“It wasn’t part of the scripted morning announcements,” district spokesperson Sharyl Wood said. “The principal took the appropriate steps in speaking with the student and disciplining the student.”

Instead of reporting their angst to the principal, the atheist students reached out to the American Humanist Association. The AHA’s legal arm – the Appignani Humanist Legal Center — fired off a testy letter to the principal and school district on the students’ behalf.

“It is inappropriate and unlawful for a public school to start the school day with an official statement over the intercom stating, ‘God Bless America,’ for such a statement affirms God-belief, validates a theistic worldview and is invidious toward atheists and other nonbelievers,” the American Humanist Association wrote in a letter to the principal of Yulee High School.

The AHA said the student violated the Constitution and broke the law by invoking God’s name over the public address system. They demanded the school immediately cease and desist under the threat of a lawsuit.

“The daily validation of the religious views of God-believers resigns atheists to second-class citizens,” the AHA wrote in their letter. “Because attendance is mandatory, the students have no way of avoiding this daily message either.”

Later that day – the AHA received a mea culpa from the principal assuring them such behavior would not happen again.

Here’s the letter Principal Natasha Drake wrote to the AHA:

“Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. I want to point out that the statement "God Bless America, keep us safe" that was made last week on the morning announcements was not approved by school Administration nor was it in the scripted announcements. The student on his own accord made the statement. I have called the student in this morning and directed him that at no time is he to add or take away from announcements that have been pre-approved and that if he did it again, he would no longer have the privilege of making the morning announcements. I am disappointed that the students who filed the complaint did not do so with me first, as I would have addressed it immediately. Once again, thank you for bringing this concern to my attention. It is our desire and intention to respect the beliefs and constitutional freedoms of all our students at Yulee High School.”

So why in the world does the school district have a problem with God blessing America?

“As an official representative of a governmental agency, schools aren’t allowed to promote or inhibit religion,” Wood told me. “Individual students are certainly permitted to express their religious beliefs but not on behalf of the governmental body.”

She explained that once the student delivered the morning announcements, the student became a representative of the government and therefore invoking God to bless our fruited plain became a no-no.

Sweet Lord almighty, good readers.

“We can’t say God bless America or hail to Muslims – nobody can get up there and say there is no God,” Wood explained. “We have respect for all people’s faiths and religions.”

The school district is also a frustrated that the atheist students declined to speak directly to school leadership. However, the kids apparently feared repercussions.

“We have an anonymous tip line the students could have used to make a report,” Wood said.

Of course they do – because you never know when you might need to report a student for suddenly shouting “bless you” after a teacher sneezes.

I asked Jeremy Dys, an attorney with Liberty Institute to weigh in on this nonsense and he said the atheists don’t have a prayer.

"Whether a student is being patriotic or engaging in religious speech, there is no law in this country forbidding a student from telling his or her classmates, ‘God bless America’ and it is illegal for a school to censor a student for doing so,” he said.

Dys also wonders why atheists are so hell-bent on trying to censor the patriotic speech of a red-blooded American high school student.

“Regardless of this attempt by secularists to white wash over this demonstration of patriotism by a teenager, America’s students do not give up their right to free speech and the expression of their religious beliefs when they go to school,” he said.

I’d still like to know how they disciplined the morning announcement reader for such an egregious act – but the district spokesperson refused to tell me.

Lord love ‘em but I’m not sure what’s worse – perpetually offended atheists or constitutionally ignorant educators.

The police blaming victims when they search for the motive of a criminal.

The mainstream media immediately decided that the shooting was an attack on free speech. Many in the US preferred this version of “they hate us because we are free,” which is the claim that President Bush made after 9/11. They expressed solidarity with the French and vowed to fight for free speech. But have these people not noticed that the First Amendment is routinely violated by the US government? President Barack Obama has used the Espionage Act more than all previous administrations combined to silence and imprison whistleblowers. Where are the protests? Where are protesters demanding the release of John Kiriakou, who blew the whistle on the CIA use of waterboarding and other torture? The whistleblower went to prison while the torturers will not be prosecuted. No protests. […]

Foreign policy actions have consequences. The aggressive foreign policies of the United States and its allies in the Middle East have radicalized thousands and have made us less safe. Blowback is real whether some want to recognize it or not. There are no guarantees of security, but only a policy of non-intervention can reduce the risk of another attack.

Mayor Bill de Blasio delivered another blow to New York's Finest on Wednesday when he reappointed a Brooklyn judge who freed without bail two men who threatened cops just days after the Bed-Stuy double police assassination.

The stunning decision came even as one of the suspects — a gang member charged with posting police death threats online — skipped a court date and had a warrant out for his arrest, sources said.

Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson had faced a midnight expiration of her term. She was appointed by then-Mayor Mike Bloomberg in January 2013.

Her one-year, interim reappointment by de Blasio outraged law enforcement officials a day after he met with the heads of five police unions to heal his fractured relationship with cops.

"The mayor's actions of reappointing this judge are completely hypocritical to his argument that he’s pro-police and counterproductive to what he claims to be an effort to open dialogue going forward,” said sergeants union chief Ed Mullins.

On Friday evening, thousands of New Yorkers attended a memorial service for Rafael Ramos, one of the two NYPD officers assassinated a week ago by an Eric Garner protester. The service brought mourners from every corner of the city. Noticeably late was embattled Mayor Bill de Blasio, who made it to the service only just before its conclusion.

Ramos, 40, and partner Wenjian Liu, 32, were shot to death on December 20 as they sat in their patrol car. Both were murdered by a 28-year-old named Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley who claimed he was avenging the death of a man who died after police used a choke hold on him as he resisted arrest in July.

Also in attendance were contingents from dozens of Police departments from as far away as Ohio, Georgia, and Maine—all of whom came to show support for the fallen officer, his family, and their fellow police officers in the NYPD.

New York City's rank-and-file police union is urging its members to ban Mayor Bill de Blasio from their funerals.

The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association posted a link on its website telling members not to let Mayor de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito "insult their sacrifice" should they be killed in the line of duty. The waiver states:

"I, as a New York City police officer, request that Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito refrain from attending my funeral services in the event that I am killed in the line of duty. Due to Mayor de Blasio and Speaker Mark-Viverito’s consistent refusal to show police officers the support and respect they deserve, I believe that their attendance at the funeral of a fallen New York City police officer is an insult to that officer’s memory and sacrifice.”

The mayor customarily attends such funerals.

The union's president has said officers haven't felt supported in the wake of a chokehold death of an unarmed black man.

They came tonight, excited to sing. When the protesters overtook the balcony, the children were absolutely terrified. I helped usher them to the far end of the balcony where they would be safe. They huddled with their chaperones and each other, some of them crying, until police got the protesters out of there. As a journalist, I'm absolutely in favor of the right to free speech. This was not free speech tonight. The protesters appear to simply want to disrupt, and in doing so, traumatized some beautiful young kids.

“Our immigration system is broken, and I support a comprehensive plan to fix it, but executive orders aren’t the way to do it,” Missouri senator Claire McCaskill said in a statement issued late Friday afternoon.

“I am as frustrated as anyone that Congress is not doing its job, but the President shouldn’t make such significant policy changes on his own,” SenatorrJoe Donnelly of Indiana said in a statement Thursday.

“I’m disappointed the President decided to use executive action at this time on this issue as it could poison any hope of compromise or bipartisanship in the new Senate before it has even started,” Senator Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota said in a statement Thursday.

Senator Angus King, an independent from Maine who caucuses with the Democrats, told Politico: “I worry that his taking unilateral action could in fact inflame public opinion, change the subject from immigration to the president. I also have constitutional concerns about where prosecutorial discretion ends and unconstitutional executive authority begins.”

Senator Jon Tester of Montana offered more tepid criticism, telling Reuters that he would "prefer" that the issue be handled by Congress. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia told Politico that Obama's move made him "very uncomfortable."

It needed 60 votes to invoke cloture and bring the bill up for a vote on passage. It only got 59 votes. Republicans supported it, and a number of Democrats, but in the still Democrat-controlled Senate, it was not enough. Once Republicans assume control of the Senate in January, they will have the votes to pass the job-creating measure and send it to President Obama.

Washington (CNN) -- Nancy Pelosi doesn't understand why House Speaker John Boehner and newly-elected Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have been on the cover of Time magazine in light of their electoral victories, but she has not.

"I was never on Time magazine cover even though I was first women to be (Speaker)," Rep. Pelosi, D-California, said. "Isn't that a curiosity? That the Republicans win, Boehner's on Time magazine. Mitch McConnell wins, he's on the cover of Time magazine. Isn't there a pattern here?"

Pelosi's comments came as a reaction to a press conference question Thursday about whether she has considered stepping down as minority leader in light of the Democrats losing the House for the fourth time since she led the chamber in 2011.

Charging that the question was unnecessary, Pelosi said she is now thinking that she has "a mission for women on this score."

'When was the day when any of you said Mitch McConnell, when they lost (taking back) the Senate three times in a row, 'Aren't you getting a little old, Mitch? Shouldn't you step aside,'" Pelosi asked. "Have any of you ever asked him that question?"

Candy Crowley Loses Control of Interview That Turns Into Wasserman-Schultz Blabberfest

Candy Crowley could have redirected the robotic disgorger of Democrat talking points, DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, back to the question she had asked. Instead, she chooses to give her as much leash as she wants.

Crowley asks what should have been an easy question to answer, if Wasserman-Schultz weren’t doing her best to avoid doing so. She simply asked whether or not the upcoming midterm elections are about “president” Obama’s policies.

Once she starts talking it is always a difficult task to control Wasserman-Schultz, but Crowley is supposed to be up to the challenge. That is a critical part of her role as a moderator. Maybe a stint as an intern in a local DC animal control facility would help her hone her interview skills, especially when it comes to evasive Democrats and particularly this evasive Democrat.

Wasserman-Schultz rambles on covering a wide range of talking points totally unrelated to the question asked. When it becomes more than he can tolerate, and clearly evident that Crowley has either lost control or is complicit in last-minute Democrat salvage efforts, Reince Preibus attempts to do Crowley’s job for her. He tries to force Wasserman-Schultz back to the question but he can’t do it on his own.

Crowley lets her continue as long as she can get away with, still without answering the question, until Wasserman-Schultz mentions the right trigger word of “extremism,” which conveniently leads into Crowley’s next point. It almost is too convenient, and looks like it could have been planned that way.

Crowley plays an attack ad against Colorado Senate Candidate Corey Gardner “as an example of campaign tactics,” in which he is labeled an extremist and then lets Wasserman-Schultz move onto a new tirade against Gardner.

It’s more than a little suspicious and we all remember her debate “correction” of Mitt Romney. A free national campaign spot against a Republican challenger is a nice gift and taken in combination with the rest of the interview, her motivations are pretty obvious.

You could see Preibus looking to Crowley on several occasions as if to ask her if she’s going to do her job or just allow this nonsense to continue and he must have been tempted to throw his hands up in the air or to just shout over the noise coming from his counterpart.

He finally can’t take it anymore and just backs off from attempting to have a reasonable discussion, saying, “This is ridiculous.” He’s right; what’s more ridiculous is that a partisan organization like CNN portrays itself as unbiased while exhibiting obvious partisanship such as this.

Joe Biden's Son Hunter Kicked Out of Navy for Drug Use

Vice President Joe Biden's son Hunter was kicked out of the Navy Reserve this year after he tested positive for cocaine, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

A Yale-educated lawyer, the 44-year-old Hunter Biden was commissioned as a Navy ensign May 7, 2013 and assigned as a public affairs officer at a reserve unit in Norfolk, Va., the Journal reported. But just a month later when he checked into his new unit and was given a drug test, he popped for cocaine.

He was discharged in February of this year.

In a statement, Biden said it was "the honor of my life to serve in the U.S. Navy, and I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my actions led to my administrative discharge. I respect the Navy’s decision. With the love and support of my family, I’m moving forward.”

It was not clear what type of discharge he received. Military personnel discharged for drug usage usually do not receive honorable discharges, although Biden's statement says he received an "administrative discharge."

The Navy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The U.S. official said the Navy never had contact with the vice president's office over the issue, and that standard procedure for failed drug tests is administrative discharge. The vice president's office didn't comment on the report.

In a speech given at the commissioning of the USS Delaware in 2012, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus noted that Hunter would be joining the service. His brother Beau also served in the military, as an attorney in the Army with a deployment to Iraq.

Biden's job in the Navy Reserve was only a part-time commitment. He has kept busy as head of the legal unit for Ukraine's largest private gas firm, according to The Washington Post. He also serves as managing partner at Rosemont Seneca Partners and is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University.

When Thomas Eric Duncan first became sick and went to the hospital, he was treated with antibiotics and sent home.

Duncan did not receive screening tests for Ebola on this first visit. The question is, why did they not keep him in the hospital for further screening and treatment? Accounts differ, but apparently Duncan did tell the hospital staff that he had traveled from Africa. While the hospital staff reports he did not say he had come from Liberia, should not the combination of his symptoms and his travel from Africa raised further questions?

Duncan has a foreign accent, black skin, and no health insurance. From a theological perspective, Thomas Eric Duncan is one of our brothers described by Jesus as the “least of these.” What role did his lack of privilege play in the treatment he received? He is being treated as a criminal rather than as a patient.

How does the left-wing ACLU weigh in on ISIS? Fox News’ Jesse Watters wanted to find out so he went to an ACLU conference in Princeton, N.J. and found out on Sept. 29’s O’Reilly Factor.

Watters began by questioning members about the “war on terror.” After several members told Watters they couldn’t support it, he wanted to know how America should treat ISIS instead. “These ISIS members that are beheading Americans, what would you do with them?”

One woman responded simply, “Nothing.” An ACLU representative also declared that the group “had no position on the conflict.” Watters declared incredulously, “You are fighting the war on Christmas harder than you are fighting the war on terror!”

But this is the aggressive ACLU we are talking about, so it’s not as if they had no position whatsoever. Waters later questions revealed their true opinion on how ISIS should be treated.

Watters asked an ACLU member, Univ. of Chicago Law Professor Geoffrey Stone, “Would you give these ISIS butchers, civilian trials and give them lawyers?”

The law professor responded, “I would give them lawyers.” He continued, “It’s about making sure they [actually] are ISIS barbarians.”

Which is a ridiculous assertion to even make, since ISIS terrorists proudly reveal their agendas on social media, home videos and by brazenly killing Americans in broad daylight.

Another woman declared ISIS members “prisoners of war” who could not be tried in court, but must be held in captivity until the war is over. Watters naturally responded, “Would you release them when the war was over?” “Yes,” she responded, nodding her head. “Isn’t that a little dangerous?” Watters asked incredulously, to which the woman responded with dumbstruck silence.

So not only do ACLU members think ISIS members deserve better treatment than civilian criminals, but their not the real enemy Americans should be worrying about.

Watters asked another woman, “Do you think that America deserves being attacked by terrorists?”

“How else are they going to get our attention?” the ACLU member whose name was blurred, responded.

Watters played along, “Do you think if we listen more to ISIS, then maybe some of the terrorism wouldn't be happening?”

The unnamed woman responded,“They’ve got their own very extreme agenda. But we have people in this country, who have their own very extreme agendas, very fundamentalist Christians.”

Watters responded, “I don’t know if that’s a valid comparison.” To which she stated, “Well, the people who were killed, are just as dead!”

Ironically, the same women interviewed said there should be “no restrictions” on abortion. Interesting how Christians are considered dangerous killers, in the mind of some ACLU members, but abortionists and terrorists should be treated with respect and lenience.

Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, Maryland Democrat, said Monday that he doesn’t believe lawmakers should cut their six-week break short to vote on authorizing military strikes in Syria.

“I think that the fact is that this matter will be considered in the lame-duck. Whether it will be passed in the lame-duck, I don’t know,” Mr. Hoyer said at a National Press Club event in D.C. “I do not believe it’s necessary nor do I think it’ll happen that we’ll come back before the lame duck, but it is my expectation we will start debate give the circumstances that exist today. [...]

Many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have said lawmakers need to return before then to vote to give the president authorization to strike the Islamic State in Syria. Speaker John A. Boehner said Sunday that he would consider bringing lawmakers back to D.C. early if President Obama asked him to.

Authorities responded to a call for an officer shot in north St. Louis County late Saturday night.

St. Louis County Police reported a male police officer from Ferguson was doing routine patrol when he interrupted a burglary at a business. The officer was shot in the bicep and is expected to be okay, however, an official condition has not been released.

Officers described the suspect as a slender, black man with dredlocks. West Florissant Road from I-270 to Chambers has been closed as police search for suspects. Reports indicate the suspect fled on foot. K9 officers and police helicopters are canvassing the area.

A police staging area has been set-up around the area of West Florissant and Stein. Multiple police departments are responding to the scene.

The suspect — Suspect described at a black male with dreadlocks, 5’11”, wearing dark clothing.

A San Diego State University sophomore was forced to remove an American flag from his balcony after apartment managers said foreigners could find the display offensive.

Brad Smith, who had just moved into the Boulevard 63 apartment complex in San Diego last month, told ABC 10 News that he received a written notice to remove the flag a few days ago.

“We were then told that it was for political reasons and that the flag could offend foreign people that live here, foreign exchange students,” Smith said. “I’ve had friends and family fight to defend that flag.”

While Smith’s lease agreement with the apartment’s management does have a clause that says “no signs or other personal property may be kept outside the premises,” attorney Christian Curry told ABC. that the clause comes close to infringing on First Amendment rights.

“Clearly, they want to keep it clean and that’s something they want to accomplish,” Curry said. “It’s a compelling reason, but it’s hardly a reason that’s going to overcome your free speech.”

Management initially told ABC that anyone who hangs a flag would be asked to take it down; however, it looks like the management capitulated after the media highlighted the story. An associate of the owners of the apartment complex told ABC there was a “misunderstanding,” and that the flag would be allowed to fly.

Al Sharpton And His Businesses Owe $4.7 Million In Tax Debt

The Rev. Al Sharpton, along with his nonprofit National Action Network and two for-profit firms, have $4.7 million in outstanding debt and liens, according to federal and state tax records, the New York Post reported on Sunday.

Among the debts include $806,875 that Sharpton owes the state, along with $2.6 million in federal liens against him for unpaid personal income taxes, the Post stated.

Recent filings showed the National Action Network owed $813,576 to the federal government at the end of 2012, and his company Rev-Al Communications owes $447,826 to the state, while the Bo-Spanky Consulting firm has $18.21 in outstanding debt, according to the Post.

Sharpton told the Post he’s paying down the debts according to negotiated agreements.
