9-year-old boy chases down cops to give them this
SLIDELL, La. – Nine-year-old Jayden Witsell is an aspiring law enforcement officer. But he’s got a little something extra with his uniform that he’s made his mission to share with real law enforcement officers.
“It’s a St. Michael’s coin,” Witsell told an officer. “If you keep it in your pocket, or in your unit, it will keep you safe everywhere you go.”
A little more than a month ago, Jayden and his mom started riding around with envelopes that say “Police Lives Matter.” In them, are cards with a hand-written ‘thank you,’ plus the coin. The goal is to give them to any officer, deputy or trooper they spot.
“He just come to me and said, ‘Mom there’s too many bad things going on in the world. People just don’t have respect for law enforcement officers and I want to do something nice for all the police officers,” said his mother Angelique Witsell.
Jayden said, “To me, police lives just matter.”
Watch the video above to see Jayden meet the men he respects so highly.
On June 11th, Witsell pulled over Slidell, Louisiana, Police Officer Joe McMahan.
“I read the card and it really got to my heart,” he said.
Later, the officer regretted not getting a picture. So he turned to Facebook to help find Jayden. A day later, the two took a selfie.
“When you did something like that, you became my hero,” McMahan told Jayden.
Now, the Witsells are hoping the rest of the community catches on.
“I hope that a lot because these officers need more respect,” said Jayden.
Witsell says he’d like to work for the DEA or the FBI when he grows up, but might also want to become a state trooper too.

There are still lots and lots of good people and good kids in America. It's just that the asses get the headlines and many positions of power. I always give a thumbs up to police when I see them.
