The F-35 will NEVER be able to do what the A-10 can do and hundreds of Americans on the ground will pay the price.
The USAF has wanted to get rid of the A-10 for decades. Prior to Desert Storm it was all set to retire and replace it with the F-10 but Desert Storm proved how much the A-10 was needed. A-10 pilots were almost worshiped by our Army and Marines because the A-10 saved their bacon many times. But, the A-10 doesn't fit the image of the Tom Cruise "Maverick" fighter pilot image so the brass doesn't like it.
