Senator Ted Cruz: " Repeal It All "
"Obamacare is a disaster. It is hurting millions of people all across this country," Sen. Ted Cruz told Fox News's Sean Hannity Wednesday night. "Sadly, all of the concerns of the millions of Americans who spoke up for months are coming true and proving even worse than was feared."
Cruz dismissed the Democrats' "Band-Aid fixes" and said repealing the law is the "only answer."
"And you know, the president apologized, but an apology is only meaningful if you make it right. And the way to make it right is to repeal it all and instead to allow people to buy insurance across state lines, have real choice, real opportunity for patients to control their health care, not the government."
Cruz said he welcomes the growing support for his position that Obamacare is flawed beyond repair and should be scrapped:
"And the more who come together, the better chance we are going to have of actually successfully empowering the American people. You know, if you want to expand health insurance, the way you do it is you want more choices and you want lower costs. What Obamacare does is it provides fewer choices and higher costs. And so it's great that we're seeing so many people... come on board. We welcome them all."
Obamacare has caused millions of Americans to lose their health insurance, and that's not the end of it, Cruz said: "One of the next shoes that's going to drop is more and more Americans are going to discover that they can't see their doctors. You know, Texas Oncology, one of the largest oncology centers in Texas, has just announced it's not going to participate in Obamacare," Cruz said.
"I have good friends who are cancer survivors, who are struggling with the fact now they can't go to their cancer doctors anymore. After that, we're going to see this spring premium increase, dramatic premium increases, because so few people are signing up on the Obamacare exchanges. And those that are signing up are not the young healthy people that they want to subsidize everyone else, and so big premium increases are coming."
President Obama also alluded to upcoming premium increases: On Tuesday, he told business executives that "prices are good" for people shopping on the health care exchanges right now. "The prices are not changing during the open enrollment period that goes out until March," he said -- indicating that premiums will rise after that.
For Cruz, the "most problematic development of all" will happen next year -- when small businesses and large employers start cancelling their health insurance, potentially affect 100 million people.
Cruz said there is a "strange trade-off at the heart of Obamacare." He noted that the law was intended to help 45 million uninsured Americans, but it will end up helping only a third of them -- between 15 and 20 million.
"Even fully implemented, there'll be about 30 million people that don't get health insurance," he said. But to get insurance to the 15-20 million, "they are jeopardizing the health insurance of some 200 million Americans who get health insurance in the private health insurance market. They're causing millions of people to have the plans they like right now be canceled. And they're driving up rates all across the country.
Cruz said if Obama had told the American people that to "cover 15, 16, 17 million people, we're going to mess up the insurance for 200 million Americans, he would have been laughed at. Nobody would have gone down this road."
"This thing is not working, and it's time to start over," he said.
Wild Thing's comment...............
But to get insurance to the 15-20 million, “they are jeopardizing the health insurance of some 200 million Americans who get health insurance in the private health insurance market. They’re causing millions of people to have the plans they like right now be canceled. And they’re driving up rates all across the country.”
GREAT summary of what is wrong with 0bamacare in 3 sentences or less.
In a rational and free society, the needs of some do not justify the use of force to violate the natural rights of others.
He shut down the government according to democraps AND Rino’s that love their DC beltway power more than upholding their oaths of office.
“Repeal It All” should be the battle cry of the GOP. If there is any sense that Democrats want this “fixed”, Republicans need to consider Harry “the mouse” Reid’s latest move in the Senate. This is war!!
