Obama’s Spending Cut Talks to Avert Fiscal Cliff Are “Phony”
Grover Norquist, the Americans For Tax Reform president, slammed President Obama’s approach to the fiscal cliff. Today on Your World, Norquist told sit-in host Eric Bolling, “It’s all politics. I mean, he’s not put a proposal on the table that makes any sense.”
Behind closed doors, Norquist says the president has been “lying” about his negotiating position when it comes to spending. In a meeting last week, it’s reported that Speaker John Boehner asked President Obama, “I put $800 billion [in tax revenue] on the table. What do I get for that?” The president then replied, “You get nothing. I get that for free.”
Norquist charged, “Not only are the phony spending cuts phony, they get smaller each time we run into one of these deals.”
