It was awful and when Obama announced there would be a moment of silence, his audience cheered....sheesh it was not appropriate art all to do that.

This is somber time, a time for mourning as it should be.
I seek not to politicize this tragedy, but to point out a stark contrast.
There is a metric for measuring the decency of folks:
how they treat their deceased.
I expect in Colorado one more self absorbed crowd and its leader to repeat another two hour long "service" of circus-like clowns, one after another, seeking applause from a rowdy rah, rah, rah crowd that seemed to be more at a sports event, as if never having been to a funeral, and it included this bizarre benediction by a University of Arizona professor with his rambling blessings of snakes and of four legged reptiles after last year's massacre in Tucson:

Contrast that with the civility of this truly mournful, quiet respectful group gathered at Virginia Tech in 2007 before a true statesman speaking with sincere compassion and humility, a brief somber address with decorum and no applause until the very end:
