North Korea Set to Launch Long-Range Rocket; What Does it Mean for the U.S. and Iran?
South Korean and intelligence experts say North Korea is gearing up to test a nuclear weapon. Reportedly, new satellite images show North Korean workers digging an underground tunnel, the same kind used in previous tests. The news also comes as the country prepares to launch a long-range rocket, as early as Wednesday, that they claim is meant to put a satellite into orbit.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said, “We view the potential rocket launch as a very provocative act that would be, if it were conducted, done in direct violation of North Korea’s international obligations.”
Victoria Nuland, a State Department spokeswoman, said the United States’ concern is for the people of North Korea who are further isolated and “whose quality of life is not improving.”
Fox News correspondent Jonathan Hunt said on Fox Report that by doing this, North Korea is advertising it’s technological abilities to buyers like Iran and also, “Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s new and very young leader has a point to prove, that he is willing and able to stand up to the international community. No coincidence either that he is doing that on the week that marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of his grandfather.”
Wild Thing's comment......
These countries, N.Korea and Iran are stupid. Do they really think playing with fire like this will keep them safe from the USA???? Obama may not care but the American people will when we have to worry about our safety and Israel fights back as well.

Once Korea and Iran go nuclear, I wonder if their people realize that deep in the ground of missile complexes all over the US, ICBM's with multiple warheads will be targeted to their cities. They may have a missile capable of reaching the US but we have 50 years of experience to precisely target their cities.
I would have liked to say we also have over 300 B-52's capable of delivering a nuclear payload to their countries but thanks to HW Bush, that fleet no longer exists. But alas, we now only have about 70 left.

While it’s true the fleet of B-52’s have been gutted there enough SSBN’s in operation to turn old mother Earth into Glass. One Multi warhead launch and Iran would be but a smoking hole in the desert floor. I have been absent from posting for about a month. I have 4 new bright and shiny titanium clamps and screws in the lower back. I can say with a grin it’s a pain in the ass. HO-Ho-Ho Obama gota Go!!!!!

If obama has his way, America will not have the nuclear deterrent we are used to. I don't think GW Bush gave up any, but Bush 41 and Clinton and now obnama went with that idiotic "trading nukes for peace". It made me sick to see those B 52s cut in half.
Gator - sounds like you are trying for "Bionic Man" status. I'm a paraplegic so I understand lower back pain. I hope the new parts from Ace Hardware work as advertised.

Gator, while it's true we do have enough missiles, being an old SAC B-52 guy, that's where my heart is. These planes actually become a part of you.
This is what it was like back in the good-ole-days. What you're seeing here is a Global Shield launch. What's taking place here is also taking place sanctimoniously at every SAC base in the US. Over 600 (B-52 and KC-135) aircraft being launched with simulated nuclear loads on the way to their targets.
