House Turns Off Incandescent “ban” By Voice Vote ~ God Bless Them! Stay Strong Against The Environmentalists Nazi's!
House democrats on Tuesday blocked Republican efforts to repeal their job-killing light bulb ban. The democrats’ plan was to ban 100 watt incandescent bulbs in the US markets in January 2012, with bans on lower wattage bulbs to follow.
The democrats didn’t care that their plan would give hundreds of US jobs to China.
Republicans came back on Friday morning and blocked federal light bulb efficiency standards without even a roll call vote.
An amendment from Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) defunding the Energy Department’s standards for traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient starting next year was approved by voice vote.
The move by Republicans wasn’t just wise, it was popular. 67% of American voters oppose the bulb ban and support Republicans on this issue.

Wild Thing's comment........
I am thrilled at what our side did. THRILLED!!
The day the light bulb nazis decided it was THEIR right to tell us how to light our homes, rather than ours was the day this country went from being in trouble to being in danger.
If our side can stay strong on this and somehow get the Senate to pass it iand then keep obama from doing his veto crap on it, maybe they can finish putting it through the rest of the way when we get a Conservative in power and more elected in the Houses.
Our government needs to at least give we the people the freedom to have a choice in what we want to use, not this dictatorship coming from the enviro's. GRRRRRR!!! Only the government would force people to purchase light bulbs with poisonous material in them.

These two actions, by the two parties, give us a clear pic ture,of where each of their loyalties lie.
The Dems, by their vote show us how beholding they are to the special interest groups, who finance their campaigns. In this case the Sierra Club and the Environuts.
The Republicans on the other hand realize that the voters sent them there to stave off the continuing onslaught of Economy busting Legislation that has been passed in the last 2 years.
It is very satisfying to see that the "Tea Party" candidates are holding to their promises, and not too surprising that, unfortunately, that, the Dems. are also.
The Revolution continues.

Yeah...its too soon for an allout ban. I've got fixtures that can't be used with CFLs (enclosed...etc) dimmers, adjustable brightness touch lamps (how many people are going to have to hire electricians to fix those issues. And I use a lot of specialty bulbs (flame tip, half chromed). And my electric bill is like $22/month. Save 10% on my bill? pfft, I can save more than that if I didn't fall asleep with the lights on. 100 watt bulbs...I use mostly 60's, that already saves 40% off the 100 watt bulbs.
Give it time people will migrate to CFLs and LEDs...at their own pace. Just go to a store and try to find a new CRT TV or computer monitor. Pretty hard isn't it? They weren't banned...people just bought the flat panels when the quality increased and the price came down.
