Obama's Time Cover Transition: From FDR To Reagan

Newsbusters

All three major networks described Obama’s confusing speech as being “Reaganesque.”

The new Time magazine cover features a Photoshop of a smiling Obama and Reagan, the Gipper's arm approvingly clapped around PBO's shoulder. The legend: "Why Obama Loves Reagan," a symbolic heart in place of "loves".

Time editor Rick Stengel explains that for years Obama has admired Reagan's style, if not substance, and has sought to emulate it.

Reagan: Fostered national pride in the military.

Obama: Fostered gay pride in the military.

Reagan: We begin bombing in five minutes.

Obama: We begin golfing in five minutes.

Wild Thing's comment.......

Obama couldn't shine Reagans' shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ronald Reagan said, “You can’t be for big government, big taxes, and big bureaucracy and still be for the little guy.”

THERE IS NOTHING OF A RESEMBLANCE BETWEEN OBAMA AND REAGAN. Reagan loved America, Obama does not. Obama desires to break capitalism, Reagan was a champion (20M jobs created). Obama gets a pass from the media, Reagan did not. Obama is a liar, cheat and thief and Reagan was none of that.

Obama KNOWS this will make many of us furious! So does Time Magazine! Obamam said to chill out and everyone get alone then he OK's something like this with Time Magazine?????!!!!!

How dare he try to emulate President Reagan. This is his way of, “can't beat, join them, then dumped them.” There is no “Shining beacon on the hill”, with Obama. He blew the light out!

Isn't it funny that when Ronald Reagan was alive the left and the MSM hated him and tried to convince everyone that he was "going to get us all killed" and "he was going to starve old folks who couldn't afford food and medicine". But know that barry needs propping up who do they compare him to?
Let me be perfectly frank here. I do not feel that obama is fit to carry Reagan's dirty Jock strap! How dare they try to insinuate that this poser in even in the same class as Reagan!

That's because they know the public sentiment regarding President Reagan ( I am so proud to write 'President' next to his name), in spite of their hatred for him. Time, et al, have become propaganda tools for the left, and will use Pres. Reagan to make their idiot-in-chief look good by association.

Nothing about that speech sounded like Pres. Reagan, nothing!

The left is already trying to rewrite the history of Ronald Reagan by linking Obama to him.

I hate the media. I won't even use the name Reagan in the same sentence as that other guy. The Left is getting desperate. They know America is making a sharp turn to the right. barak and Michelle need to start packing their bags.

My den, the room from which I write this, has four walls, each of them has either a picture of Ronald Reagan or something he said.

Of course this Time magazine cover is disgusting and an abomination, but it also quite petty.

When you find yourself offended, perhaps irate and reacting negatively (as the left would like us to be and to be seen), rise above this inclination and stay positive as Reagan would.

Ronald Reagan taught us, “be of good cheer”.

Next week will be Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday and the following week will be the 2011 Annual CPAC Convention of the Conservative Union at the Wardman Hotel in Woodley Park in Washington, D.C. I will be there just as Ronald Reagan was when the Conservative Union was first created, and then later again and again every single year of his presidency as the keynote speaker.

At CPAC’s February 1987 convention President Ronald Reagan said this:

“Six years ago we won a great victory, and we don't intend to let anyone again drag our beloved country into the murky pit of collectivism and statism.

This is the 200th anniversary of our Constitution, and no cloud will dim the shining light of our remembrance. This year we rededicate ourselves to the shared values and the common purpose that have given our nation unrivaled prosperity and freedom.

We hear the cynics, but pay them no mind. We pass by the pessimists and the doomsayers, knowing that they'll always be with us, but confident that they no longer can hold our country back unless we let them.

We see before us a future worthy of our past and a tomorrow greater than all our yesterdays. If there's any message that I wish to convey today, it is: be of good cheer. We're coming back and coming back strong.

Our confidence flows not from our skill at maneuvering through political mazes, not from our ability to make the right deal at the right time, nor from any idea of playing one interest group off against the other. Unlike our opponents, who find their glee in momentary political leverage, we nourish our strength of purpose from a commitment to ideals that we deeply believe are not only right but that work.”

Ludwig Von Mises, that great economist, once noted: "People must fight for something they want to achieve, not simply reject an evil." Well, the conservative movement remains in the ascendancy because we have a bold, forward-looking agenda. No longer can it be said that conservatives are just anti-Communist. We are, and proudly so, but we are also the keepers of the flame of liberty. And as such, we believe that America should be a source of support, both moral and material, for all those on God's Earth who struggle for freedom. Our cause is their cause, whether it be in Nicaragua, Afghanistan, or Angola. When I came back from Iceland I said -- and I meant it -- American foreign policy is not simply focused on the prevention of war but the expansion of freedom.

Modern conservatism is an active, not a reactive philosophy.”

-President Ronald Reagan, Conservative Union CPAC Convention, Shoreham Hotel, Woodley Park, Washington, 20 February 1987.

MrHappy, your right in all you said, and yes they are using Reagan to try and prop Obama up.

Elizabeth, I know how you feel, I love saying President with Reagan's name unlike how I feel now about who is in office. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Bob, it makes me feel sick to my stomach to see this going on.

Tom, well said, I agree too they really are getting desperate.

so sad and a little grotesque that they are so desperate to try to link the best and the worse Presidents together....no wonder Time magazine is losing subscribers daily...
