Kiss your 100-watt lightbulb goodbye ~ Thanks To Brain DEAD Environmentalists
Mark Levin takes a few calls about Fluorescent light bulbs
.
Kiss your 100-watt lightbulb goodbye
Californians can start saying goodbye to traditional 100-watt incandescent light bulbs now that the state has become the first in the country to require a new standard for the screw-base bulbs.
Experts say the new rules, which took effect New Year's Day, will save residents money and energy. California is already the nation's leader in energy efficiency standards.
As of Saturday, what used to be a 100-watt light bulb manufactured and sold in California will have to use 72 watts or less. The 72-watt replacement bulb, also called an energy saving halogen light, will provide the same amount of light, called lumens, for lower energy cost.
Similar new standards for traditional 75-watt, 60-watt and 40-watt incandescent bulbs will go into effect in California over the next few years, with wattages reduced to 53, 43 and 29 respectively.
The new rule does not ban incandescent light bulbs; it just requires those bulbs to be 25 to 30 percent more efficient. And it only affects incandescent light bulbs manufactured after 2011, not light bulbs already in use or on store shelves.

Wild Thing's comment.........
These lights they are going to force us to us won't let a person have good light for reading or doing anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO!
Illegals are OK
Muslims are OK they did not attack us it was just some radicals
good old regular light bulbs are BAD
BIG government is GOOD
people that do well = BAD
Veterans = BAD according to DHS they are possible terrorists
Drilling for oil ONLY if is the USA = BAD
the list goes on into more and more insanity
ENOUGH! of this crap!
Mark Steyn was in for Rush on Thurs and read the Maine EPA instructions for what to do if you break one of those stupid bulbs, it’s insane!
Overview of a two-page doc from the EPA of how to clean-up after a CFL breakage.
CLEANUP AND DISPOSAL OVERVIEW
The most important steps to reduce exposure to mercury vapor from a broken bulb are:
1. Before cleanup
a. Have people and pets leave the room.
b. Air out the room for 5‐10 minutes by opening a window or door to the outdoor environment.
c. Shut off the central forced air heating/air conditioning (H&AC) system, if you have one.
d. Collect materials needed to clean up broken bulb.
2. During cleanup
a. Be thorough in collecting broken glass and visible powder.
b. Place cleanup materials in a sealable container.
3. After cleanup
a. Promptly place all bulb debris and cleanup materials outdoors in a trash container or protected area until materials can be disposed of properly. Avoid leaving any bulb fragments or cleanup materials indoors.
b. For several hours, continue to air out the room where the bulb was broken and leave the H&AC system shut off.
Can you imagine a guy in prison answering the question, “what are you in for?” With “smuggling lightbulbs”?
The “green lie” is the most costly and ill conceived nonsense I have ever witnessed. It is amazing how many otherwise “intelligent” “educated” people believe that crap.

One of the problems is Solar power which is basically DC won't work on these bulbs, unless you also buy the inverter. Because there's a transformer in these bulbs DC sees a short circuit and the bulb can blow up, literally.
Second, they are not recommend for Kitchen use, because of there color out put. IF you use flourescents in the kitchen and buy the cheap ones the meat looks funny, off color, thats because there are special bulbs for the Kitchen because of the color they produce.
They claim only 14 watts of power for a 100 watt bulb, this is only partially true. the amount of electricity is about 50 Volt-Amperes, or 50watts AC. Because there are transformers in these bulbs they need a special power just to work, Solar power and Permanent Magnet Generators can not produce this power. Hence the transmission lines have a tendency to over heat and can cause the lines to sag due to excessive current required to light these stupid bulbs.
The Edison bulb, was the art of simplicity. A 100 watt bulb consumed 100 watts, some in light and some in heat, at the end of the day they used 100 watts as they did in the morning. In other words you got what you paid for.
Also these squirrely bulbs have a toxic chemical Murcury, Chrissy already listed the Hazmat list. They are banning smoking everywhere yet insisting we use bulbs that can kill you quicker than any cancer.

Also, these bulbs are all made in China. GE used to have a plant in the US but after Obama appointed GE's CEO to his economic advisory council, he closed up shop in the US and moved to China.

George W. Bush signed onto this cfl nonsense. I believe the bill he signed makes all of us have to buy cfls either by 2012 or at the end of 2012. I have been stocking up on incadescents. Sorta like having to load up on ammo because of the same socialist govt. that has been growing for the past 30+ years. Now I see why the govt. dictated low flush toilets for us. It is so they won't drown the day when we force their little pointy heads in the toilet.

Mark, thank you so much for all that information, I appreciate it. That is interesting too about the kitchen and they never mention that.
