Chilean Miners Rescue and Their Awesome President Sebastián Piñera
The collapse occurred on 5 August 2010, at 2:00 p.m. local time according to statements from the Empresa Minera San Esteban mining company.
The disciplined leadership of shift supervisor Luis Urzúa, was credited with keeping the men alive on an emergency food supply during their first 17 days without contact from the outside world. This leader of these men, will be the final man to make the exit.
It takes about half an hour to raise and lower the rescue capsule with a miner inside.
The estimated total time for the rescue operation is approximately 16 hours. This particular capsule is called Fénix (Phoenix). Three of these units will be used.

Incredibly wonderful news! The rescue effort, an unparalleled technological, logistical tour-de-force!
I think the drill was built in PA. The Roanoke Times had a story about the company a few weeks ago. The best mining drills in the world are made in Latrobe, PA. Company called Kennametal.
Article here .....Salem firm gives trapped Chilean miners its best shot
The second guy they sent down is their equivalent of Navy SEALs, I believe they even train with the SEALs. He's a tactical diver/medic with 10 years of experience. He'll probably be the last person out, which has got to be nerve wracking.
When they first went down to get the first miner, the President of Chile was praying and making the sign of the Cross. To absolute hell with PC!! Viva El Presidente’ We won’t see that kind of thing from Obama.
Then those waiting began singing........singing - is that possibly the Chilean National Anthem???Not sure.
Man with white hat on is the President of Chile and he is hugging the miner.
America, you want to see a GREAT President and First Lady? Watch these two loving and standing by each family member!!!!!!!!! He is giving a hug to each one as they come out. So far as I am writing this there are two miners out.
He was hugging everyone. When he saw the first lady, he takes of his hardhat and with a nod of his head says “Senora.” Then they hug — even in his excitement he showed manners.
OBAMA... TAKE NOTICE!!! THAT is a PRESIDENT!!!!
The President of Chile Miguel Juan Sebastián Piñera Echenique, gave a long speech after the first miner came up and he was so full of emotion and DID NOT have to use a teleprompter!!!
Obama would have been too busy golfing or hanging out with his SEIU thug buddies then to give a damn about trapped miners. Or also Obama would be busy making speeches about banning mining!

Goly it is great that they are getting these miners out alive. What a success story. And I am proud that Americans played important parts in this rescue.

the last i heard they had 15 out. This is great. And if I was one of those miners I would never go down there again.

They are still bringing them up, only a few more to go.
Thanks Tom and Mark.

Chrissie is right that this is setting a standard that is going to rattle the WH core. Even a real leader from Chile is more than this President can measure up to.
