The Difference Between a Republican and a Democrat
Everett McKinley Dirksen, a Republican U.S. Congressman and Senator from Pekin, Illinois
This video was shot in Southern Illinois in 1967 or 1968 and features a young reporter (CP Harding) from WSIU Television (Southern Illinois University) asking Senator Dirksen just one question for a proposed children's news program.
Wild Thing's comment........
History repeats itself. People forget what liberals are and they vote them back in power.

Well stated. I was not much into politics at that time. I spent all of 1967 and the first 3 months of '68 in Vietnam. I started learning politics fast when I came home and found out that Americans were being told we lost the '68 Tet offensive. That news shocked me because I knew we had won that major battle. Senator Dirkson was one of the few polticos standing against the tidal wave of naysayers declaring the war lost.

EM Dirksen the last great Senator from Illonois. He was one of a kind. Because of his colorful speech he was known as the 'Wizard of ooze'. One famous quote, "A billion here a billion there and pretty soon youre talking real money."

Tom, wow I did not know that about him, that is good, I am glad. Thank you so much. I remember him too only slightly. I remember my Dad talking about him. It must have bene around 1965 in highschool, when I started to see how politics effect so much and I began to listen more to things happening. But not till later on like 1968 did I really get ticked and start to see how bad the left was.
