Save lives in Haiti – end lives in America?

While White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs announced on Friday all that the present administration was doing to save lives in Haiti, Gibbs reported that President Obama was meeting at the very moment with both the House and Senate Democrats to resolve how they could provide federal funds via Obamacare to terminate more American lives in the womb.
What a stark and tragic contradiction in agendas, aids, ethics and value of human life. Is it not incongruous to anyone else that our president, who proposes to be an advocate for all minorities, isn't one for the most disadvantaged to survival? What type of health care is there for the least among (and within) us?
Abortion has been called the most hotly contested and challenging aspect of Obamacare, and, if there is no compromise soon between the House and Senate, the battle could possibly lead to the death of the health-care bills.
One thing is certain, and Obama knows it: If the Democrats are to pass their version of health care, with any overt or covert pro-abortion verbiage in it, they need their super-majority of 60 votes intact to block any possible filibuster. That is why it is certainly no coincidence that Press Secretary Gibbs also announced Friday that the president had decided to go to Massachusetts to campaign for 60th-vote Senate candidate Martha Coakley "because she asked."
As we sit on the eve of another Sanctity of Life Sunday (Jan. 24), I'm also struck by the sheer contrasts of President Obama's and our founders' views of human life in the womb.
The truth is, when our country elected Obama as president, we placed a man in the highest office in the land that has the most liberal views and voting record on abortion of any president in American history. As a state senator in Illinois, he led opposition three years in a row (2001-2003) to a bill similar to the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which prevents the killing of babies who survived an abortion attempt and were born alive. He also opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion and strongly disapproved of the Supreme Court decision upholding the partial-birth ban. He does not support the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion through Medicaid. He also voted to block a bill that would have required a doctor to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor girl from another state. Strangely, Obama even once said he would not want his daughters to be "punished with a baby" due to an unwanted pregnancy.
In just his first year in office, President Obama has led and enacted more pro-choice or abortion legislation than all former presidents combined. Restrictions for federal funding for embryonic stem cell research have been lifted. Obama overturned the "Mexico City Policy," now allowing federal taxpayer funds to support international family planning groups that provide abortions. Obama gave $50 million to UNFPA, the U.N. population agency that has been criticized for promoting abortion and having close associations with Chinese population-control officials. And Obama recently signed into law another omnibus bill and its provision that overturns the 1988 Dornan Amendment, which prevented taxpayer dollars to fund abortions in Washington, D.C. Tragically, the bill also appropriates $648.5 million for international family-planning funding (an increase of $103 million over 2009) and contains funding for Planned Parenthood and for the United Nations Population Fund, both of which have pro-abortion agendas.
Still on the horizon, but fast approaching, is the fulfillment of Obama's campaign promise to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, or FOCA, which is a sweeping bill that will once and for all abolish all pro-life regulations across the nation, from parental notification laws to bans on all federal funding of abortion.
If you think Obama's pro-abortion mission is over, consider the brand new special report, "Promise Audit: Tracking Obama's Progress on Campaign Promises," in which the National Journal examined Obama's abortion track record and gave him a 33 percent completion rating of his campaign promises regarding abortion.
Can you imagine if all the pro-abortion initiatives Obama has accomplished in his first year are just one-third of all he will do before the end of his term?
Not surprisingly, Obama endorsed the House version of the bill before it contained an abortion funding ban (Stupak-Pitts Amendment) and supported the Senate version (with its tabled Nelson-Hatch Amendment) which funded abortions. Just another day and another broken presidential promise for conservatives, who testified just a few months ago on Sept. 9, "Under our (health-care reform) plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions."
Obama was not joking when he told Planned Parenthood during his presidential campaign that he would "turn the page" on the abortion cultural wars. The presidential candidate who once proclaimed that estimating when a baby gets human rights was "above his pay grade" has granted more pay to pro-abortion agencies and enacted more pro-abortion legislation to assure millions of more babies' rights are never experienced outside the womb.
Like I said, what a sheer contradiction to our founders' views of life in the womb. Those like Thomas Jefferson who wrote in 1809, "The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government."
But as long as we have breath, and those in the womb have life, we patriots must fight for American life, the way many of us are now fighting for Haitian life.
Here are nine ways that you can fight for all human life this Sanctity of Life week:
1. Call anyone and everyone you know in Massachusetts to fight for the election of GOP challenger, state Sen. Scott Brown as that state's U.S. senator, and let's stop this super-majority gridlock and anarchy in the U.S. Capitol and simultaneously try to save some of those precious souls in the womb.
2. Tell your own congressmen and senators you want them to value all human life, from the womb to the tomb, like our founders did in the Declaration of Independence.
3. Tell your congressmen and senators that you expect them vocally and with their votes to fight against any pro-abortion legislation, especially within Obamacare.
4. Tell your congressmen and senators to fight for the language from the Stupak-Pitts Amendment and the Nelson-Hatch Amendment in the combined House and Senate health-care bills.
5. Call or write the White House and demand that President Obama quit fighting to terminate life in the womb, and seek instead to value and save human life. We may not change his mind, but we can let him know that he doesn't speak or act on behalf of tens of millions of us.
6. Join 400,000 people who have signed the Manhattan Declaration to fight for the unborn by doing the same at ManhattanDeclaration.org.
7. Share this column with your pro-life pastor, priest, family and friends, and remind them all of the Sanctity of Life celebration this Sunday (Jan. 24).
8. Reflect upon the value of human life in the womb by reading a book like my friend Randy Alcorn's "Why Pro-Life?" or one of the many free articles on his website Eternal Perspective Ministries.
9. Support and get involved with a local pro-life organization or movement, like my wife, Gena, who supports the Dallas Council for Life and the Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center.
I heard Sunday President Obama attended and spoke at a church service in Washington, D.C., in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. That's great. But I wonder if he'll speak again in some church this next Sunday, which is Sanctity of Life Sunday, celebrated by churches all across this land in honor of human life in the womb?
The founders gave their Sanctity of Life testimony in the Declaration of Independence when they declared that all human life is "created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. …"

Excellent write up. He is right, and I think Obama could care less about the lives of any of the lives in America before they are born or even afterward I will add as well.

So true-life begins at conception with mitosis-the dividing of cells to create a precious child and to me, Obama's ideas on this are spitting in the face of every woman who has ever miscarried a child, a child who was loved and wanted more than life itself. Life is so precious and it must be tended to carefully for as long as one lives.

This is off subject but concerns Haiti. It seems you folks in Florida are going to get some new neighbors. Seems Obama plans to bring 45,000 Haitian refuges to Florida. Just a little something to ensure Florida voted democrat.

Before our son graduated from his parochial high school, we MARCHED FOR LIFE... It was one of the most moving experiences I ever witnessed in DC CCCP! The liberal press reported only 20,000 marched but there was over one million - easily!
Pray that Scott Brown wins today in Taxachusettes... WE THE PEOPLE have had enough!!!

I wonder why obama is so much for abortion. Most of the abortions are people who in all probability would grow up to be liberal voters.

Then they can add 45,000 instantly to the welfare rolls, unfortunately Florida will have to cover most of that cost. Must be great spending other peoples money.

Margaret Sanger started this, I will bet she never envisioned a Black/white President. But why are 90% of the Abortion clinics in or near a Black neighborhoods. Out of the way or just a very convenient place to make abortion more accessible to Black women. This flies in the face of obama's 'Social Justice' plan, that is more people on welfare.

I have a design in my online shop that is as pithy as I can make the abortion argument. It says: "ABORTION are YOU PRO LIFE or are YOU PRO DEATH?" I see no case to call it "Pro Choice", not when the principle has no say in the matter. And, I believe fervently that women should have "Freedom of Choice", but just like in calling the Fire Dept. It does no good when there are only ashes remaining. Freedom of Choice is best exercised prior to the time of would be conception. I doubt that many of us "Pro-Lifers", (has a nice ring, doesn't it?), would deny a woman the right not to conceive, would we? It is the SLAUGHTER just before the first light of the first day that turns me against the liberals.
That's my rant,
