Barack Obama's trip to Oslo to pick up his Nobel peace award is in danger of being overshadowed by a row over the cancellation of a series of events normally attended by the prizewinner.
Norwegians are incensed over what they view as his shabby response to the prize by cutting short his visit.
The White House has cancelled many of the events peace prize laureates traditionally submit to, including a dinner with the Norwegian Nobel committee, a press conference, a television interview, appearances at a children's event promoting peace and a music concert, as well as a visit to an exhibition in his honour at the Nobel peace centre.
He has also turned down a lunch invitation from the King of Norway.
According to a poll published by the daily tabloid VG, 44% of Norwegians believe it was rude of Obama to cancel his scheduled lunch with King Harald, with only 34% saying they believe it was acceptable.
"Of all the things he is cancelling, I think the worst is cancelling the lunch with the king," said Siv Jensen, the leader of the largest party in opposition, the populist Progress party. "This is a central part of our government system. He should respect the monarchy," she told VG.
Although Obama will not lunch with King Harald, he will see him on a visit to the royal palace.
The Nobel peace committee has been criticised for awarding Obama the prize before he has any major accomplishments in international relations.

Obama bashed America during his acceptance speech.
Here’s the transcript of Obama’s Nobel speech.
…The world rallied around America after the 9/11 attacks, and continues to support our efforts in Afghanistan, because of the horror of those senseless attacks and the recognized principle of self-defense. Likewise, the world recognized the need to confront Saddam Hussein when he invaded Kuwait — a consensus that sent a clear message to all about the cost of aggression.
Furthermore, America cannot insist that others follow the rules of the road if we refuse to follow them ourselves. For when we dont, our action can appear arbitrary, and undercut the legitimacy of future intervention — no matter how justified.
This becomes particularly important when the purpose of military action extends beyond self-defense or the defense of one nation against an aggressor.

More on his speech..................................Obama's during his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech today in Oslo, Norway. In this clip, Obama can't resist insinuating that the United States did not "follow the rules of the road" ourselves after 9/11 in taking military action against Iraq. He never mentioned Iraq explicitly, but the clear insinuation was there.

Wild Thing's comment.......
He is really bringing out the love for the USA all over the world....Not. Almost everywhere he has been he has upset the other countries, the leaders of the other countries and their citizens.

Silly Nobellians; thought they could buy the great barack HIMSELF obummer off with a simple Gold coin? Don't they know that this Judas wants much more than 20 pieces of silver? I am surprised that obummer's crew didn't ask them to just bring the damned medal to the airport so he could reach out of AF1 and just grab it as they taxied by.
Those Norwegians actually thought that obummer would do the statesman thing and visit with them? What lackeys! Don't they know he don't kibbitz with commoners? Not at all the way of the elitists.

Obama never passes up a chance to bash Bush.
If Norway was a Muslim country and it's king a Muslim, you can bet the farm Obama would have had lunch with him and stayed for all the ceremonies.

The world is beginning to see what obama is. He is arrogant beyond the definition. He is not a statesman. He hates America. obama is a community organizer who worked with some of the lowest dredges of American society, but hung around the most elite who are Marxists.
obama is a puppet on strings. Somebody else with hordes of money set obama up and guided him to the presidency. On his own, without his teleprompters, obama is a classless turd.

I watched as much as i could stomach on FoxNews. The Mussolini-looking-down-the-nose body language was too disturbing. I had to turn on CNN, they weren't carrying it.

Obama said his accomplishments are "slight" more like slim to none. He's managed to bankrupt the country in a "slight" 10 months.
But John Bolton summed it up. He said, Obama selfstroking speech, was 'Pedestrian, Turgid, and Uninspired' Address .

Jack, LMAO good one.
Thanks everyone so much.
Mark, yes Bolton was so good about
Obama's speech. I was disappointed to hear
so many conservatives say it was a good
speech by Obama.
