The gunman, first said to have been killed, was wounded but alive in a hospital under military guard, said Lt. Gen. Bob Cone at Fort Hood. He was shot four times, and was on a ventilator and unconscious, according to military officials. "I would say his death is not imminent," Cone said.
The man was identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old from Virginia.
The suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was on a ventilator and unconscious in a hospital after being shot four times during the shootings at the Army's sprawling Fort Hood, post officials said. In the early chaos after the shootings, authorities believed they had killed him, only to discover later that he had survived.

Military officials say the suspected shooter is not dead, as was originally reported. He is alive, and has been treated for his wounds.
Military officials say the suspected shooter at Fort Hood was a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to the Texas base in July.
The officials had access to Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan's military record. They said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential.
Federal law enforcement officials say the Hasan came to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.
The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children. He was 39 years old.
He is a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency and a fellowship.

Al Siddiq, president of the Islamic Center of Waco, followed the unfolding news of the Fort Hood tragedy anxiously, as a veteran of the U.S. Army himself, as a friend of some Muslim soldiers currently stationed at the Central Texas post and as a Muslim who has become wary of backlash.
Siddiq said the Muslim Islamic community is very concerned that the shooter on Fort Hood was a Muslim because Muslims tend to get all thrown into the same category. Since 9/11, Siddiq said, when an individual Muslim acts stupid, it affects the entire Islamic community. The concern is backlash against other Muslims, he said.
“We’ve been very fortunate in Waco,” Siddiq said. “But there’s always a backlash.” Siddiq said he had a great experience in the U.S. Army, both in Korea and stationed at Fort Campbell.
“That’s what hurts me the most,” he said. “The Army has accommodated Muslims. Not any other Army can offer what the U.S. Army offers.”
Siddiq said what he has heard is that the Fort Hood shooter may be a convert to Islam. He said he thinks the problem some converts have is not based on the Islam religion, but on the resentment toward the U.S. government that they bring to their faith.
Malik attended prayer services nearly every day in Silver Spring for several years. Six months ago Hasan came to the attention of the FBI because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings.
After lauding a Muslim U.S. Army soldier who killed comrades in Kuwait in 2003, Hasan wrote in an online posting, “If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers … that would be considered a strategic victory.”
At Fort Hood, Hasan exhibited a troubled state of mind. Retired Col. Terry Lee, who worked with Hasan at the psych ward at Fort Hood, told Fox News that about six months ago he heard Hasan say, "Maybe the Muslims should rise up and fight against the aggressor," in Iraq and Afghanistan -- referring to the U.S. Army
Authorities said the gunman was shot but was not killed. Two other soldiers suspected in what appears to be the worst mass shooting at a U.S. military base were also apprehended, officials said.
Tom Hunt, himself a former Army sergeant who was stationed at Fort Hood, said his son called about an hour after the shooting to tell him he was safe.
James Hunt, 27, serving with the 510th Combat Engineers, was with his platoon at the base’s Soldier Readiness Center where soldiers who are about to be deployed undergo medical screening. He is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in January.
But because James had broken his foot several weeks ago, he was sent outside and told to get some extra paperwork that would clear him for deployment. James was waiting in the parking lot of the center when the shooting started, his father said.
“Everybody started running and shouting, and he saw the wounded come out,” Tom Hunt said. “He didn’t hear the shooting, but he said it was ‘a bloody mess.’”
Hunt said his son told him he loaded up many of the wounded and drove them to the hospital. The wounded relayed what they saw inside when the shooting happened.
“They were telling him that one guy was shouting something in Arabic while he was shooting,” Tom Hunt said. “He couldn’t say much more than that.”

Well, that's the problem with Islam: millions of muslims live in peace and want peace, but there is always the risk that someone does what the Koran actually proscribes and what Mohammed proscribed and lived out. Then you have terrorists. If Christians do what Jesus told them to do and what Jesus lived out you have Saints! That's the difference between the two religions.

Chrissy - Read this below. This is the agenda for the entire muslim world - including most of those that live in the West. There is little distinction between the militant and the so called 'moderate'. The millitant is prepared to kill. The moderate is prepared to be patient. But the aim is the same. Muslims are infiltrating right across Europe, England and into Asia. In fact they are now challenging countries like China & India. What happened today in America is going to increase with more frequency and intensity. Governments across the Western world have got to understand what they are dealing with. Islam has two distinct arms:
1. The political arm
2. The religious arm.
Together they aim to sweep across the globe destroying all religions in it's pathe. Thus installing Islam as the sole religion on this earth. We are headed for deadly dangerous times and the way things are shaping up our politicans are NOT prepared for what is coming down the pipe. I am very sorry that your people have died this way. But it is a precursor to what is coming down the track. Put bluntly, the enemy is now within. Lynn, take heed of his name. Major Malik Nadal Hasan - Forget the bad reviews. The problem is ISLAM - and his involvement in it. With Islam as your shield you can blame the infidel for everything that is rotten in your life. This man will blame everybody accept himself. Islam by it's nature breeds immature people and it makes these people reliant on the religion for their every breathing moment on this earth. If there is anything such as pure evil on this earth, Islam has to come pretty close to it. It is a religion based on fascism, and tolatarianism. This is the cult of islam at work. This man had some pressures and failings in his life and decided to fall on the teachings of islam to compensate for his own weaknesses. As a trained psychiatrist he should have known a better way. I wonder why his fellow shrinks didn't act sooner, but this also shows the fallacies of that profession
As I understand it Hasan was born into islam. His parents were immigrants and he was raised muslim in America. This also shows what the imans are teaching right here in America. They all(even the "moderates") are literally ticking time bombs just waiting for some iman to light their fuse. They are incompatible with Western civilization.
I thought that 9/11/01 we should have declared war on islam including the ones in America. Instead, G W Bush instructed us not to consider them all terroristic and even called it a "religion of peace". I believe there will be more attacks on us right here in America. Eventually the American people will say enough and we will settle the problem. If the muslim obama does not disarm us first.

A Soldiers base is his home. This is where you sleep, eat and relax, and generally feel safe. Their home was invaded. These Soldiers were NOT killed, they were MURDERED, in their own home, in cold blood and according to some reports, Execution style. This is a pure and simple case of Jihad.
You know, had this been a White Supremacist Group it would be immediately called Terrorism. But here is another example of obama's moderate moslems at work. Obama knew yesterday that this was a Jihad, He knew yesterday that the shooter was a moslem, that's why the nervous careless attitude on the podium. He looked as nervous as a dog shittin' razor blades.
Had this been a shooting in a muzzie neighborhood you can bet obama would've been outraged, DHS and the rest of SS would be there looking into this arresting every NON muzzie for looking White and they'd be screaming Terrorism.

This shooting was a copycat shooting of the Virginia Tech shooting. This pig was a graduate of Virginia Tech as were most of my family and my wife's family. A fool "spokeswoman" last night told Wolf Blitzer that the troops at Hood are not armed because they are in a safe environment and don't need weapons. Almost exactly what the Public Affairs Officer at Va Tech told the Virginia General Assembly a few months before the Korean slaughtered a classroom full of students. Va Tech students with concealed carry permits were not allowed to carry firearms.
After the Va Tech incident I showed that white-haired black woman assistant President's poetry to my Tech Graduate relatives and they had no comment. Her most famous poem has only one line repeated over and over. "Kill n----r, Kill." They were embarrassed when I told them the President and everybody around him should be fired.
The Fort Hood soldiers were not "unarmed". They were disarmed. If we don't know the difference, God help us. Many of them had been in combat and were surely better shots than a freaking psychiatrist. But they were disarmed. Were they in the Army or the Dis-army?
Well, now I think every chain-of-command officer at Hood should be fired. I let my membership in the Association of the U.S. Army expire last year so I can't write a blistering letter to the Army magazine. Just as well probably. Many years ago a retired Army Colonel who worked with me and I started an AUSA unit a couple of miles from Va Tech. We were driving up the valley of Virginia on some business and he pointed to a pass through the Blue Ridge Mountains. "Stonewall Jackson's men came through that gap and met some Union General's men here in the valley" he said. "Jackson's men got whipped but they didn't have any shoes." "Well, I said, that just goes to teach us that if the General's horse has shoes and we don't, we are probably in the wrong army." Thirty-five years have not changed my opinion. An officer shot those troops but near as I can determine no officer was shot. Strange. I consider that those forty soldier boys and girls were and are all my children.
MacArthur said it, "Duty, Honor, Country." Hassan never was an American soldier.

And now there's been another shooting in Orlando. This is just gettin' ridiculous and some people are saying that it's okay for Obama not to do anything because Bush didn't do anything about Katrina (but they never mention LoBlanco or Nagen as the "real" culprits of the Katrina fiasco). Where in the heck did they get that kind of attitude? Something has to be done. I'm tired of this BS!

I just got off the phone with my daughter, in Buffalo. Her Step-daughter was suspended from school and charged with Terrorism. They must go to court and answer the charges.
It appears that the jihadi in question, aka, Jihad Jada, that's her new name, Jada. Apparently during some early morning 'grabass' before school started, in Homeroom, she had the audacity to blurt out, the bomb goes off at 9:30.
Well the Police were called she was taken to the Principals office and held until the cops arrived. They live in a small town outside of Buffalo, in Tonawanda, so anyway the cops arrived and took her to the Station and the whole 9 yards.
My daughter was called and told to pick her up at the station, and given the third degree for having such rebellious daughter.
So now she is suspended until after the court date. All this for a stupid comment. I hardly think this is warranted treatment for a 10 year old.
This country has its priorities bassackwards.

In the seventies I was Chairman of a small city school board in Virginia. Our schools were integrated and outstanding. All three of my children attended them and two graduated from High School there. Today I would not send a kid of mine to any public school in America. Hope your daughter's situation comes out well.

I hope Hasan lives a long time as a helpless cripple in extreme agony with nurses shoving tubes and catheters up his body orfices and I hope the hoses and catheters are made from swine parts.
I think of the HBO series Deadwood where the Chinese boss, Wu, charged the town thugs to toss their executions into the pig pen for disposal and elimination of evidence.

There is one sinking feeling I have: the potential push for more damn "gun control" (I feel sick just typing it).
I does sounds ridiculous; and it can't be proven, but, too many things just stink. This was way too convenient of a shooting.
An engineered shooting to fire up the anti-gun movement in a time of "crisis" (know what I mean?) and a shooting, as Michael Savage pointed out, that happens the same day around the same time the Tea Partiers show up on the capitol to protest commie care.
One that was further exacerbated because of idiotic regs which disarmed our guys and they weren't able to defend themselves. I'd feel safer downrange than whenever I'm in garrison.
At least I'd have my M-4 out there.

If I were you I would stock up on guns and PLENTY of ammo. If Obama manages to disarm the people your country is finished - just like Australia. Thousands of people in Australia hid their guns inside polypipe and sealed the ends with caps, then buried them in a safe location. For the first time in my life I do not trust my government to protect us anymore. Australia is now run by a socialist government that set about dismantling the tough border protection policies of the previous Howard Government. Now we are being swamped by boat people and illegals arriving by plane, deliberately overstaying their visas and going into hiding. The West is loosing control over it's own borders and being infiltrated by muslims at an astonishing pace. Europe is set to fall to Islam within decades if we don't stop the rot. The Western left are assisting this religion in achieving it's goals. Obama and his clueless ilk are setting the stage for global armageddon. They think that by appeasing these bastards we will change the way they think. Well sorry - it won't. They are taught to dispise 'the other' from birth.
