American Family joins calls for Jennings ouster
'This man is not a good role model for the nation's children'
The American Family Association today joined in the call for the removal of "gay" activist Kevin Jennings from his job as overseer in the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe Schools.
"This man is not a good role model for the nation's children, nor will he fairly represent all Americans due to his spiteful attitude toward evangelical Christians," AFA President Tim Wildmon said.
"Are we to believe Kevin Jennings will fairly treat Christians who believe homosexuality is wrong?" Wildmon asked. “Students of faith will hardly be safe from bullying and intimidation in any school that listens to him. It's time for the Obama administration to demand his resignation.”
WND has been reporting on Jennings, his background and his opinions for several months. Just yesterday WND carried a report about a letter project set up by the American Principles Project, which is dedicated to preserving and propagating the fundamental principles on which the U.S. was founded.
The group has set up a website program through which concerned parents and others can send a message to members of Congress, objecting to Jennings.
According to a statement released by the project, Jennings, "supports a radical agenda regarding homosexuality that has no place in our schools. As the author of the foreword to the book 'Queering Elementary Education' and the former Director of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, he is deeply out-of-synch with the majority of Americans and does not respect the rights of parents on these sensitive issues."
Other evidence of his radical beliefs also has been appearing. In a YouTube video he's heard telling an audience that teachers should be required to undergo "bias" indoctrination "before they are allowed in a school as a teacher near children."
"If they aren't aware of their biases, they are a threat to children," he claimed.
Lawmaker calls on Obama to fire official in gay sex ed controversy
Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King is calling on President Obama to fire gay activist Kevin Jennings, the controversial head of the Education Department's Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools. Although Jennings has come under heavy criticism from social conservatives in recent months, King is the first member of Congress to call for his ouster.
King says Jennings has no background in anti-drug work, and his experience in education has focused not on the issue of school safety but on introducing the topic of homosexuality into the classroom, including in elementary schools. "The totality of his life has been the promotion of homosexuality, and much of it within education," says King. "He has focused on nothing else during the last two decades, and that is not the focus that our schools need to be on."
King says he plans to write a letter to President Obama about the Jennings matter, and he also expects other members of Congress to join him in calling for Jennings' removal.
Obama to speak to gay audience
President Barack Obama plans to address the nation's largest gay rights group this weekend, a person familiar with his schedule said Monday, trying to mollify an uneasy Democratic constituency.
Obama plans to address Saturday's Human Rights Campaign fundraising dinner gala, said the person, an individual familiar with the president's plans. This person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the White House had not yet announced Obama's plans.
The dinner falls on the eve of the National Equality March, expected to draw thousands of gay and lesbian activists to the National Mall.
"At its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans," Obama said a 2007 statement on gay issues. "It's about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect."
Since then, he publicly has committed himself to repealing the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that allows gays and lesbians to serve in the military as long as they don't disclose their sexual orientation or act on it. On Jan. 9, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs answered "yes" when asked whether the administration would end a policy that has seen the dismissal of more than 12,000 troops after their sexual orientation was revealed.
But as president, Obama hasn't taken any concrete steps urging Congress to rescind the Clinton-era policy that some former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have acknowledged is flawed.

Wild Thing's comment.........
In the twisted minds of leftists, "introducing the topic of homosexuality into the classroom, including in elementary schools" is the very definition of "school safety" My guess is Obama could care less who does not approve of Jennings, he agree's with him and likes him.
Look at this photo of Barack and Michelle.....it is NOT photo shopped. Look at his body language. OMG
.
....Thank you Mark for sending this to me.

So obama has time to address a gay grup, but not time for his troop commander in Afghanistan.
In that comment photo I can see why obama may be addressing a gay group. He sure looks wimpy.
Jennings should be made obama's emissary to the Taliban.
