Before the Speech:
• Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions:
Who is the President of the United States?
What do you think it takes to be President?
To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking?
Why do you think he wants to speak to you?
What do you think he will say to you?
• Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students? What can students do to help in our schools?
Teachers can chart ideas about what they would say.
• Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?
During the Speech:
• As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following:
What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?

Obama to Appear on Back-to-School Program
Obama will appear on the back-to-school TV special “Get Schooled: You Have the Right” with singer Kelly Clarkson and basketball LeBron James.
The 30-minute documentary, which airs at 8 p.m. on September 8 , highlights the education challenges, life choices, and breakthroughs experienced by Obama’s speechwriter, Sarah Hurwitz; Clarkson’s music director, Jason Halbert; and James’s marketing executive Latesha Williams.
Obama, Clarkson, and James are featured in the show alongside their trusted professional colleagues who work behind-the-scenes but have compelling life stories. Hurwitz chronicles her experience growing up in Wayland, MA, to her days as an undergraduate and law student and her current job at the White House. Halbert, who has been music director for Clarkson since 2003, is a Beaumont, TX, native who has cultivated a life-long love of music to become a Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter. Williams, a native of Brooklyn, NY, combined education, perseverance, and her dream of working in the music and sports industries to land several internships for high-profile business and entertainment figures, which ultimately led to her working with James
Obama says in the documentary. “So as this new school year begins, I urge you to set goals for your own education: to study hard and get involved in your school; to try new things and find something you're passionate about,” he says on the show. “Don't be afraid to ask questions and ask for help when you need it. That's how you learn. That's how you get ahead. And that's how our nation will get ahead—by ensuring that every American gets a world class education, from preschool to college to a career. So get schooled. Your future—and our nation's future–depend on it.”
“Get Schooled: You Have the Right” will air commercial-free, and kicks off a five-year national initiative co-developed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Viacom that allows the corporate world and communities to address the challenges facing America's public schools.
Parents rebelling against Obama speech to schools
Parents across the country are rebelling against plans by President Barack Obama to speak directly to their children through the classrooms of the nation's public schools without their presence, participation and approval.
The plans announced by Obama also have been cited as raising the specter of the Civilian National Security Force, to which he's referred several times since his election campaign began, but never fully explained.
"I am not going to compare President Obama to Hitler. We'll leave that to others and you can form your own opinions about them and their analogies. … However, we can learn a lot from the spread of propaganda in Europe that led to Hitler's power.
A key ingredient in that spread of propaganda was through the youth," wrote a blogger at the AmericanElephant.com blog, where the subject of the day was a national "Keep-Your-Child-at-Home-Day."
"Totalitarian regimes around the world have sought to spread their propaganda and entrench their power by brainwashing the children. I guess it's easier to indoctrinate a six-year-old instead of fighting a 26-year-old or being challenged by a 46-year-old in the voting booth," the blogger wrote.
At issue was an announcement that Obama plans to deliver a message directly to students via the Internet into public school classrooms across the nation on Sept. 8.
According to announcement posted on ServiceWire.org, Obama will address students "about the importance of persisting and succeeding in school" at 1 p.m. Eastern at the WhiteHouse.gov website.
The announcement said the federal Department of Education "is encouraging educators, students and parents to use this opportunity to help students get focused and begin the school year strong."
The government also is publicizing a list of suggestions for students and teachers to do in preparation for the speech, including studying Barack Obama's writings and presidency.
Now the former community organizer and current president of the United States is making an unprecedented speech to the school children of our nation. I'd like to believe his motives were pure and politics didn't play into this. But viewing this administration's track record doesn’t afford such benefit of the doubt.
"When the president browbeats property owners who want to protect their legal rights… when the president admits he doesn't know the facts but impugns the integrity of a police force… when the president calls me a liar for reporting what is actually in the health care bills and encourages my neighbors to report me to some enemies list… when the president apologizes to nations around the world and bows to a Saudi king… he loses the benefit of the doubt," the blogger wrote.
"Without benefit of the doubt, the president doesn't get to speak to my children unchallenged," the writer said.
The education department's suggestions include building background knowledge for students about Obama, and then asking, "What do you think he'll say to you?"
During the speech, students should be instructed to "think about the following: What is the president trying to tell me? What is the president asking me to do?"
Another exercise would be to have students write letters to themselves about "what they can do to help the president."
"These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals," the recommendations suggest.

Get 'em indoctrinated whie they are young and captive in school. I doubt seriously that obama will refer to The Constitution or The Declaration of Independence. He will probably refer to Marxist ideas and, of course, he will be promoting himself. This reminds me of the video of the youths marching into a room chanting Alpha-Omega and yelling out their encoragement from obama. Students will be encouraged to write letters to themselves about "what they can do to help the president". Sounds like socialism.

Had to send our son to Catholic Schools to receive quality educations, and where God and respect to OLD GLORY were acknowledged daily. Jesus was even in CHRISTmas during December school days too. Our son's red state southern college is worth every penny! NOBAMA YOU KEEP YOUR CHANGE!!

I can't decide if he's more Hitler or Stalin. DangerB over at hahayourdead nailed it on the head by saying we should call him Shitler. He is our republic's biggest danger. Below is the link to his site if anyone cares to take a gander.

This is not too surprising, given the fact that the Liberal Colleges and Universities have been promoting this agenda for years. The direct result of this is of course left leaning teachers in the class rooms at all levels from Kindergarten through Graduate School. Look at the leftist agenda of the Teachers Unions and Organizations in this country.
The fact that Ther Fraud President is allowed to do this is just another step in the progression.
We have a whole generation of people coming through the schools that have no idea of what has made this country strong.
They are taught Revisionist History, are encouraged to adopt left wing thinking, and are told that anything remotely Patriotic is to be viewed aa suspect.
The result of the laast presidential election and the continued support of the president by the younger generation is proof of all this.

Like I can't tell my child all this myself! Geez, who in the world does he think he is? I think I shall keep my little one home that day. He is so full of himself. My child is confused enough without having BO confusing her more. It's indoctrination plain and simple. What gall to be so narcissistic.

A conflict of interest of free advertising -- By the B.O. (body oder) book and read it. One of the most important thing to teach my kids is to question authority not follow along like drones. Lucky for me you posted this. Have parent teacher conferences tonight. Will inquire about it.

Obama's mission is to keep the kids ignorant. In telling them good sounding ideas that have proven to be not so. There are a number of things any paremt can do to resist. The first is to buy primary history source material (books by Adam Smithm Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson ... etc.) , and have it around the home as the child grows up.
