NYC Terror Plot Suspect, Father Arrested in Colorado
NYC Sports Stadiums, Fashion Venues Researched by Man Eyed in Terror Investigation
Investigators found research on New York City sports stadiums and sites related to the city's Fashion Week events on the computer of a man being questioned in an FBI probe of an alleged terrorist plot, ABC News reports.
Authorities have made few public comments about the progress of their investigation, but there have been numerous reports that Najibullah Zazi has admitted to ties to Al Qaeda while claiming he was not central to the suspected terror cell under investigation.
Zazi had been cooperating with authorities and was interviewed several time this week by investigators, but on Saturday, he apparently didn't report for a fourth day of FBI questioning. His attorney has said the reports of a confession to terror ties were untrue.
The FBI had no immediate comment.

Federal agents Saturday arrested Najibullah Zazi, the man under investigation in a terrorism probe in New York, and his father after swarming Zazi's Aurora, Colo., apartment.
At 9:30 p.m., 15 to 20 law enforcement cars reportedly swarmed into the parking lot of Zazi's apartment.
Both Najibullah's Zazi and his father, Muhommad, were removed from the apartment in handcuffs by armed FBI agents.
Wendy Aiello, a spokeswoman for Zazi's defense team, told FOX News their attorney Arthur Folsom was on his way to meet them, but it was not known what they would be charged with.
Earlier in the evening, Aiello told KDVR in Denver "we have not been contacted by the FBI."
Zazi didn't report for a fourth day of FBI questioning earlier Saturday so he could spend a much-needed day with his attorney, Aiello said.
Najibullah Zazi had been scheduled to go to the Federal Building in Denver on Saturday. But Aiello told The Associated Press that Zazi and his attorney contacted the FBI to cancel the meeting.
"They are meeting as client and attorney to review the case and the entire situation," Aiello said. "Further meetings with the FBI are not being ruled out."
"I do know that Mr. Zazi is very tired," she added.
The FBI had no immediate comment.
Zazi, a 24-year-old airport shuttle driver, insists he is not involved in terrorism and has no links to Al Qaeda. He is not under arrest.
He completed a third day of questioning Friday and was allowed to return to his suburban Denver apartment.
"The Denver FBI office has been very professional and courteous to Mr. Zazi and his family, and Mr. Zazi has cooperated fully with the Denver FBI office," Aiello said.
Zazi's defense team denied reports that Zazi is considering a plea deal related to terror charges, and Folsom, has dismissed as "rumor" remarks by a senior U.S. intelligence official in Washington that Zazi played a crucial role in an intended terrorist attack.
The official told the AP on Friday that Zazi has indicated he is directly linked with Al Qaeda. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss intelligence matters, said Zazi played a crucial role in an intended terrorist attack but that it was not immediately clear what the targets were.
The official said the plot was being directed from outside the United States.
"Absolutely no way. It's a rumor," Folsom said Friday.
The suspect has admitted contacts with extremists in Pakistan and may strike a plea deal over allegations that he attended a military training camp, according to US media reports of law enforcement officials. He denies involvement in any terrorist acts or plots.
A car journey last week by Zazi from Denver, where he now lives, to the Queens district of New York, his previous home, sparked a major police operation based on telephone intercepts, FBI officials have said. Searches of homes in Queens turned up maps, backpacks and other indications that there may have been a plot to carry bombs onto trains in the New York area. With President Barack Obama and other world leaders arriving in the city in the coming days for the United Nations General Assembly, security concerns are particularly high.
Despite the raids, there have been no formal arrests as a result of the investigation and Zazi is helping police voluntarily.
A US intelligence official in Washington told The Associated Press that they suspected there was an intended attack but that it was not immediately clear what the targets were. The official said that the plot was being directed from outside the United States.
The Department of Homeland Security beefed up security at airport and issued a reminder to mass transit authorities in big cities to remain vigilant.
WCBS-TV reported that law enforcement officials claim to have recorded a number of conversations between Zazi and a known al-Qaida operative in Pakistan.

Oh, so we have a 25 year old Afghan immigrant, presumably here legally but probably not a naturalized citizen. He didn't own his own business, he drove a delivery vehicle for a shuttle company. A decidedly pedestrian line of work, and one that doesn't pay all that well (can you say "taxi driver"?)
Yet our banks - the ones that have received federal bailout money - gave this guy $50,000 worth of outstanding credit on multiple lines, which he all drew down and spent (presumably on whatever he was up to here) prior to filing bankruptcy.
Can someone answer this question:
HOW IN THE HELL DO OUR BANKING REGULATORS ALLOW THIS SORT OF OUTRIGHT FRAUDULENT GRANTING OF CREDIT? $50,000 IN UNSECURED CREDIT LINES TO A FREAKING DELIVERY DRIVER WHO APPEARS TO BE A FOREIGN NATIONAL WITH NO ASSETS IN THE UNITED STATES AGAINST WHICH TO SECURE THE LOAN?
THE BANKS THAT WE BAILED OUT FAILED TO STOP THIS CRAP ALL THE WAY UP TO MARCH OF THIS YEAR AT LEAST (WHEN THIS GUY FILED BANKRUPTCY) AND PROBABLY STILL ARE DOING IT!
This is an OUTRAGE. Not only did this guy effectively stick the US Taxpayer with the $50,000 in debt it appears he may have been using the freaking money to plot some sort of terrorist attack as part of an Al-Quaida cell INSIDE THE UNITED STATES?
TO PUT THIS IN ONE SENTENCE: BANKS THAT WE BAILED OUT WITH TAXPAYER MONEY ARE FUNDING TERRORISTS INSIDE THE US?!

Doesn’t naming a child Najibullah pretty much guarantee the kid’s gonna be a terrorist? Like naming a kid Jeeves pretty limits him to butlering??
From what I have read and heard in the news the NYPD went after these guys first because Obama would not. And that the FBI was totally ticked off. So Obama's messing in with things that have to do with our protection once again.

LOL Chrissie, it's so incongruous with Dennis Kucinich whipping out his personal pocket copy of the Constitution on Fox News this morning and touting that the Patriot act is unconstitutional and that the FBI was using the news release of the terrorists arrest a as a way to get support for the Patriot Act's re-authorization.
First thing is that Kucinich is one of the furthest left leftists from abiding by the Constitution, that he is from the CPC and that he fully supports Obama and his unconstitutional agenda. Your false patriotism won't work Dennis, you are a Communist, this is nothing but a red herring diversion to cover the passage of the Obamacare package by subterfuge. As for these terrorists, they are active, they've been caught, prosecute them and put them away forever. As for those bank loans, could it be that the banks are told to make those loans, what is the ethnic background of those bankers? WTF. Whole families of these muslims are allowed to enter America. Both Zazi and his father are suspected of terrorist ties. Sounds like he may have been targeting a really soft target, the fashion industry.
Until the day I die I will blame George Bush for not facing up to the fact that muslims do not belong in America. The proof is what they are doing in Europe. 9/11 gave Bush the perfect excuse to reverse the flow of muslims into America. Instead he decided to be compassionate. He couldn't even use the word muslim to descibe terrorists.
Get ready America. Now with obama on a streak to ruin the country, we can expet a lot of activity from these muslims that are here.
