Nancy Pelosi, Hoyer: Freedom of speech 'simply un-American'
Some congressional leaders apparently have a problem with freedom of speech these days. In an op-ed piece published in USA Today, Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer are calling townhall distruptions "simply un-American."
GOP Rep. Mike Pence Says Pelosi / Hoyer "Un-American" Op-Ed Will Not Silence Americans
GOP Rep. Mike Pence reacted to the op-ed written for USA Today by Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer that characterized anti-ObamaCare Protesters as "un-American."
Pence said he does not believe this will silence Americans. Instead, it will only make Americans more determined to be heard on this issue.
"We believe it is healthy for such a historic effort to be subject to so much scrutiny and debate," wrote Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Hoyer (D-Md.).
"However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue."
"These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views--but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is "simply un-American."
It's worrisome that there are representatives who wish to quash the voices of the American people by labeling them 'un-American'. The public isn't drowing out the facts-they are pointing them out-something Obamacrats refuse to do. Although there have been a few bad apple town halls, the majority have been peaceful and none were violent until the White House asked Democrats to 'punch back twice as hard' in an attempt to stamp out part of the First Amendment. Combine that with an administration that requests supporters to report fellow citizens in opposition to Obamacare and tensions rise.
Wild Thing's comment.......
I have never heard a single democrat criticize Code Pink.
They disrupted congressional hearings. They disrupted the Republican convention with a pass given to them by a dem media sympathizer.
They disrupted Bush’s inauguration speech with a pass given by a dem congresscreature.
They raised money and donated a check for over $600,000.00 and delivered it to the Al-queada.
They have had signs made to use at their protests that say..."Kill your officers" when they protest agasint our troops.
They destroy property at Marine and Army recruiting centers.
And the list goes on about Code Pink and NO democrat has ever, not once said a negative thing about them. John Murtha and others have even done photo ops with the Code Pinik leaders.
But when it comes to Conservatives it is a different matter. Conservatives that don't do any of the things I mentioned that Code Pink has done.

Such cry babies when they don't get their way. Clearly a division of people with common sense vs. those who don't.
I really like Mike Pence.

When has the left EVER conducted a civil dialogue against President Bush, or any Republican. But you see the Shoe is on the other foot now, and the they really don't know what to do so they've run out of Ammo and are now calling names.
We do not sponsor, our side, protestors, we don't bus them in, today is my first time protesting anything and I will be heard.

It is not Un-American! It's very American. I don't know what Nancy and her Pelosians are smoking, but it must be something nasty, like ditchweed. We only ask questions and we expect an honest answer, not the speaker getting mad or flustered or walking out on us. Apparently, they have not read the bill yet, otherwise they could answer the questions.

The Dems should remove that Jackass as their symbol and replace it with a Howler Monkey!!!
From 2006 until 2008 the CPC had time to cook up all this socialist crap, it was dumped on the public as soon as they had Osama to rubber stamp their bills. They didn't reckon with the rank and file opposition and the public is only starting to wake up. They howl just like those damned monkeys when it doesn't go their way.

I've stopped listening to democrats. I can not stand to listen to them. If they complain that republicas are doing something, I automatcally asssume that it's the deomcrats that are doing it and the republicans are insocent victums of false accusation (that would be the sin before God). This is an unfortunant situation that leads to partisan bickering and a lack of real dialog. I've decided that you can not reason with the far left and can not argue with them on their terms. They are good at that. It takes to much effort and blood presure to try to argue with them. We need to just stick to the constructive agenda of smaller government and lower taxes and keep point out that the left is full of false promises.

So non socialist Americans are doing on their own inititive what Democrats have paid college students and homeless to do in the past. Hey Lefties, demonstrations are tough to tolerate aren't they. But as long as they are not threatening, it is their First Amendment right to protest. Our folks pay their own way. And we don't degrade America.
