Democrats That Beg For Your Vote Then Ignore You Now

.

Holbrook, Arizona

Kirkpatrick (D-AZ)walked out on her own town hall

Gila Courier

Earlier today we covered the story of Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick canceling her town hall. We have since found video of the event and the truth of what happened does not quite match the story that Rep. Kirkpatrick gave to Politico. Kirkpatrick was certainly facing questions but the group is well behaved. When she gets up to leave the people stand aside and let her go.
Clearly Kirkatrick chose a very crowded venue and only has herself to blame for the confined space. At the end of the video we see another Democrat hopping in an SUV, which for some reason has California plates. What’s up with that?

Harry Reid Will Only Do Town Halls By Telephone, Media Mum

Newsbusters

The most powerful man in the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid D-Nev., announced on Friday that as a result of recent protests at town hall meetings he won't hold any such political gatherings during this month's Congressional recess.

Instead, he will only do what's called "telephone town halls" where he and his staff have complete control over the questions being asked and who's asking them.

Should have been big news, right?

Well, according to LexisNexis and Google news searches, not one major media outlet felt it was important enough to share with the citizenry.

Not one.

Despite the ensuing silence concerning this matter, the Las Vegas Sun broke the following seemingly important story [1] Friday (h/t Terri Green):

A day after holding up a square of Astroturf to denounce the orchestrated attacks on Democratic town hall meetings on health care, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office said he would be talking with his Nevada constituents this month over the phone lines.

Reid’s office is scheduling a telephone town hall meeting for August, opting to avoid the shouting matches and microphone speeches that have erupted at events across the country. The senator expects to reach thousands of Nevadans, including those in the state’s rural expanse.

“It’s a forum that obviously lets us reach more people, but also provides a more respectful environment that allows all sides to be heard,” said Reid spokesman Jon Summers.
“It’s more the dialogue that town halls were meant to be, as opposed to the organized disruption we’re seeing in other town halls,” Summers said. “This is so Nevadans who want to be heard can voice their concern, support and their opinions.”

Once again, from what I can tell, not one major media outlet shared this with the citizenry.

Why?

After all, this is apparently a growing trend, for the Mercury News reported [2] similar decisions by Democrats in California:

IA contacted three South Bay members of Congress — Democrats Mike Honda, Zoe Lofgren, and Anna Eshoo — and none currently has plans to hold a town-hall meeting on health care during Congress' August recess. At least, not in person.

Honda and Lofgren each plan to convene a "telephone town hall" on health reform before Congress reconvenes in September. But for now, they won't be subjecting themselves to a potential smackdown.

This refusal to face one's constituents is now sweeping the nation. Washington state's Rep. Brian Baird, after claiming he received death threats, has canceled 3 all of his town hall meetings this month opting for the telephone version:

Random voters will receive automated phone messages asking if they have a question for their Congressman. If they do, they will be asked their location and the subject of their question. Sitting at his own telephone, Baird then will choose a name based on its location and the topic. After the call is over, the recording will be posted on his Web site.

Hmmm. Gives the Congressman an unlimited amount of control over the content and questions, doesn't it? Not REALLY what a town hall is supposed to be about, is it?

That said, because of the death threat element, Baird's announcement did receive some national attention although not much considering the media's current one-sided fascination with town hall meetings.

Another such announcement [4] to go teleconference came from Florida's Rep. Kathy Castor after videos of her town hall meeting on Thursday went viral. Sadly, media were far less interested in her decision to only speak to her constituents via telephone for the rest of the month.

North Carolina's Blue Dog Rep. Heath Shuler will also avoid 5 face-to-face town hall meetings. According to LexisNexis, not one major news outlet other than Human Events reported this revelation (no link available):

Some lawmakers are meeting constituents only by phone. They include Reps. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Chet Edwards (D-Texas), Heath Shuler (D-N.C.), John Tanner (D-Tenn.), Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) and Larry Kissell (D-N.C.).

"Tele-townhalls" are popular with Congress. Their best use is when a member can't appear in person because they must be in Washington. But that's not the case during this five-week break. Lawmakers can speak with large numbers by phone, but constituents can only speak if their phone is activated. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) used this system last week to talk to 15,000 via phone. She took questions from 14 of them -- but 500 unsuccessfully signaled the operator that they wanted a chance to talk.

Tele-townhalls are mostly one-way communication. There is no face-to-face. The politician has complete control and keeps inconvenient constituents out of sight. Questions can be limited or screened.

It leaves no embarrassing videos on the Web.

Wild Thing's comment........

At the one with AZ. Ann Kirkpatrick ........the “Don’t come back!!!” line as she drove away was GREAT!! And I also
love the older-sounding guy toward the end who said “what a nitwit.” LOL

Harry Reid have time to meet the “little people” face to face, I mean come on! Plus, they might smell bad like Harry said the tourists in DC did.

Wow there sure are a lot of them avoiding a Twonhall meeting. What cowards and what power hungry folols. This speaks volumes about these politicians. Treating their voters with this kind of contempt is only making it worse for them. These are not just Republicans, and conservatives, there are also llibertarians, independents, and democrats that are not as far left as Obama that have questions.

During campaign time, you are the “voters”. Once these jerks get into office, you are “the unwashed mob”

Democrats sure get upset when Americans don't like the legislation they're voting on.

When the progressives starting changing the Constitution in, 1913, with the 16th amendment, Income Tax' and the 17th Election of Senators, this was the beginning of the end. The 16th gave the Federal Government the Power to tax the people at will and whim. the 17th took away the right of the people to control the Election of Senators on a local lever via their State Representatives. Now money can come in from anywhere to influence the election and the State has no control over it.

Since that time we the people have ceeded power to the government. Yes, this is partly our fault. As we kept getting more and more complacent, involved in our daily lives, doing what we do best, make the country work, the Libtards/Progressive have been active in changing the government, while we were busy. As Rush says, we have reached the tipping point or the High Water Mark. The progressives have also reached the point of seeing an opportunity to take COMPLETE control of government.

In his book "Intruder in the dust", Faulkner writes, 'its' 1 O'clock in the afternoon, but it hasn't happened yet, its July 3, 1863 and every Southern Boy can have that moment for the
himselve. Or pick any favorite moment in History. We are at that point. This is where we got to stand up and step off and fight for our rights, because we surely are losing them, with each passing day.

This amounts to a huge battle, and if we lose we lose everything, not only worldly possessions but our most cherished of all, Liberty.

I keep thinking of Franklin's words to the Lady on the street,"We have given you a Republic, if you can keep it." It is up to us to keep it. Obama has upped the ante by sending in his unorganized Union Brown Shirts to scare and intimidate us to send us home to make us sit down and shut up. No more complacency, no more roll over and play dead. We still have a Constitution and we still have the Right to speak out and by God, me, for one am going to exercise it. As Chesty said, "We're surrounded that simplifies the problem.

Poor burritoes, as my father would have said. They made their bed, now they need to lie in it. It's perfectly within my rights as a voting citizen to ask questions of those I vote for. If they don't want to answer my questions, well, then, we vote them out. We aren't the ones being aggressive. We're just angry and there IS a difference. We aren't knocking people over or hurting someone. I love the one where the person ran out of the town hall meeting and the people followed him, chanting the Pledge of Allegiance! This is TOO funny! Stuck up snobs is what they are.

Everytime I rent a car in Vegas it has California plates, so maybe that's why that car had them, a rental?

She didn't even try. What a nitwit...lol. And you know she looked at that video. Is she proud of herself?

See, even they are believing their own hype about Mobs. Your Grandpa and Grandma are the mob...visual aids at You Tube. Get a clue Dems.

WOW, just saw a great interview with the man who was at Dingle's meeting that got in his face about his son with cerebal palsy. It was on FOX with Megyn Kelly. Now that's a video that should go viral. He was extremely prepared and articulate. Here's the most disturbing part. He was visited in the middle of the night to be threatened for his actions. He put out a message to whoever it was (he didn't say I think because it's being investigated) that he was armed and if they did it again he would risk going to prison to drive them off his property because his wife was terrified.

Hot tamale that story.

Then it was followed by those pictures of the prepared signs of the Obama supporters vs. the homemade signs of the opposition, in response to the claims the opposition is organized and the supporters are grass root. Completely blew that out of the water. It was the pictures from Denver you posted below.

Pelosi and that pud Hoyer really made a mistake with their op eds that this opposition is unAmerican. This opens up wide the comparisons of the videos and pictures to dispell their bullshit.

Lynn--didn't see your post before I posted (twice)...but I am still laughing about the guy chased by the "mob" reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mark gives a good analysis of the situation we find ourselves in. The legislation of 1913 that created the FDA, allowing the federal government to restrict progress in Medicine and replaced the US Dollars, with Federal Reserve notes allowing debasing the currency, had worse affects on the moral fiber of these United States

I contend that the solution that States need is to call for and hold a Constitutional Convention that excludes everyone who was once a Federal Office holder or Federal employee.

Posted by: Avitar at August 10, 2009 10:01 AM

I don't know how calling for a federal constitutional convention works, but here in Illinois we get a chance to vote on having a state one every 20 years...and last year was the year we voted on it...and it didn't pass.

My theory why it didn't pass is that it was so poorly advertised and explained, people didn't understand it. The Dems running this state (into the ground) didn't want it, so their literature and education on the issue was piss poor at best. People didn't understand that the committee is elected by the people (not appointed by current administration which was Blagoevich at the time) and that nothing gets changed without a vote either.

I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but it would take a huge effort and a lot of educating the public.

Our representatives not only no longer represent us, they don't even want to face us. They have been busy herding us to the poor house and weakening the Republic for which we stand. They have been taking care of themselves, new luxury jets for congressional junkets. They are passing legislation tha gives themselves more power while taking rights awy from us citizens. They know that very many of us don't like what they are doing and so they are avoiding us.

I don't believe Mussolini thought there was a problem either, until he was elevated to the light standard.
Some of those Democrats have an R after their names too, ignoring constituents once elected is not just a Democrat phenomenon. I signed up for my Representative's newsletter, I have yet to receive one, he knows I don't support his party and have voted against him in every election I was eligible to vote in. He's like Byrd, born and raised in DC, he focuses on his blind followers and ignores the rest of the district.

BobF., haha they sure do. They are so
afraid their power will go away.

secret....it is going to one day.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 10, 2009 07:43 PM

Mark, that was so good, thank you.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 10, 2009 07:45 PM

Lynn, your so right, they are becoming
their own kind of sick joke and their
power is not going to last.

I am so glad we are all fighting back
it feels so good to get to speak up
and even if they put us down, so what
we are on the side of our country and
our loved ones future.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 10, 2009 07:48 PM

Eden oh wow thanks I didn't know that
about car rentals but it sure makes
sense.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 10, 2009 07:49 PM

Eden thanks for the information about
Illions. Ingteresting!!

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 10, 2009 07:50 PM

Tom, yessss what the heck and we are
the ones that pay more taxes then the
ones in their party that want hand
outs so much of the time.

"Our representatives not only no longer represent us, they don't even want to face us."

Can you belieive that jet thing, 2 or 3 I
forget how many now but they are really
obsessed with being hauled around like
that costing us even more money.

Posted by: Wild Thing at August 10, 2009 07:54 PM

Jack, thanks for sharing about that.
There are so few conservatives in
office now. I really have had it with
the dems in the rep. party.
