Team Sarah Founders address Governor Sarah Palin’s decision to step down as Governor of Alaska

Team Sarah

Washington

Today Team Sarah commented on the announcement that Sarah Palin will step down as Governor of Alaska on July 25, 2009: “Sarah Palin has always been an intensely independent woman-- always true to her faith, her family and call to public service. She has taken vast numbers of Americans to a new place: politics without cynicism. And she has provided women with a new political role model,” said Team Sarah Co-Founder Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Her entrance onto the public stage has had an immensely positive effect, drawing in massive numbers of Americans new to the political process. We have every confidence she will have an equal and profound impact in whatever projects she undertakes now.”

“Team Sarah members anxiously await Palin’s next decision on how she believes she can best serve our nation. Since the 2008 Election, the continual presence of personal attacks on both Governor Palin and her family indicate that she remains a threat to the liberal feminist political establishment,” said Team Sarah Co-Founder Jane Abraham. “Despite criticism, Governor Palin’s success will endure. Team Sarah’s thousands of members remain as engaged as ever on TeamSarah.org. The Governor has inspired millions, and her audience of enthusiastic support will only grow in the future.”

Team Sarah is a coalition of Americans dedicated to advancing the values that Sarah Palin represents in the political process. Its political networking website, www.teamsarah.org, has grown to over 70,000 activists.

FOX News

After Friday's announcement, some aren't so sure about Palin's prospects.

"I am real surprised. It is real unconventional," William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, told FOX News. "It would make sense to finish the governorship and then run for president in 2012.
But Kristol didn't count Palin out for 2012, calling her "crazy like a fox."
"It's a huge gamble -- but some of her gambles have paid off in the past," he said. "If I had to bet right now, I would bet that we just heard the first opening statement in the 2012 presidential race."
Palin also hinted at her own national ambitions, invoking a quote that she credited to Gen. Douglas MacArthur: “We are not retreating; we are advancing in another direction.”

Times online.co.uk

Palin ended 2008 with a striking run of personal successes in high-profile popularity polls. According to a poll by Gallup she was the second most admired woman of the year, after Hillary Clinton. Time magazine chose her as the world’s fourth most influential person, behind Barack Obama, Henry Paulson of the US Treasury and President Nicolas Sarkozy of France.

Last week she triumphed in an annual poll, commissioned by a property website, as the person Americans would most like to have as their neighbour.

An internet campaign is already under way to promote Palin as the Republican party’s best choice to challenge Obama in the presidential elections of 2012. More than 60,000 people have joined TeamSarah.org, an umbrella group that unites numerous pro-Palin fan clubs such as Catholics for Sarah, Texans for Palin and Small Business-Owners for Sarah.

James Brislin, a Connecticut team member, noted that “the Republican party has lost its way . . . Sarah Palin is who we need moving forward”.

Sarah Palin breaks the mold again

American Thinker

A different school of thought is that she is planning a run for the presidency, and realizes she cannot do that from a base in Alaska. The distance from the mainland and the lack of media coverage of her while acting as governor would make it all but impossible to put together the sort of organization one needs to run for president. Freed from the duties of governor, she can go out and give speeches, supporting candidates and earning chits, meeting people and capitalizing on her unrivaled hold on the GOP base, which loves her. Mark Levin presented a particularly insightful case that this is what Governor Palin has in mind, all the while acknowledging that he doesn't know any inside information.

And there is such a need to BUILD up and FIGHT for our state and our country. I choose to FIGHT for it! And I'll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and LIFE... I'll work for and campaign for those PROUD to be American, and those who are INSPIRED by our ideals and won't deride them.
I WILL support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the RIGHT reasons, and I don't care what party they're in or no party at all. Inside Alaska - or Outside Alaska.

This does sound as though she is planning to campaign for politicians across the country. And then there was this basketball analogy:

Let me go back to a comfortable analogy for me - sports... basketball. I use it because you're naïve if you don't see the national full-court press picking away right now: A good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket... and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can WIN. And I'm doing that - keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities - smaller government, energy independence, national security, freedom! And I know when it's time to pass the ball - for victory.

Because I like and admire Sarah Palin, and think she has unmatched charisma and authenticity, my hope is that she intends to devote her professional energies to running for president, and, in the process, lead the opposition movement to the radical change Obama and the Democrats are trying to accomplish. But it is a hope more than a prediction.

Wild Thing's comment......

She knows exactly what she is doing. She is finally free..free, free as a bird and now she can soar to new heights. Libs are probably more terrified of her now then they were of her yesterday

God does not pluck someone like Sarah from obscurity unless there is a purpose. I believe Sarah is a person of destiny just as Ronald Reagan was.

She has been trying to drill in ANWR since she became Governor. Her husband works in the Oil fields Jobs are on the line. Alaska doesn't have a lot of manufactureing jobs available but they do have plenty of OIL. To no avail. EPA and the environmental nitwits have shut this down.

If CAP and TRADE passes it would be cost prohibitive to American oil companies to buy U.S. drilled oil because of the huge tax they will be forced to pay, forcing American Oil companies to go over seas (Saudi Arabia) to buy oil. The jobs lost here in CONUS and especially Alaska would be devastating to their economy. This part of the bogus cap and trade to punish US oil companies and to find oil elsewhere.

As Governor she can not lobby effectively against this lousy bill. It is in Alaska's best interest to go to Washington and Lobby there fulltime and go state to state and work against this bill. But she can not do it if she is governor.

Therefore, she has resigned as Governor to peruse this full time.

If she defeats Cap and Trade with a barnstorming campaign and lobbying it will resonnate throughout the land that she is a leader who really thinks of the people first.

It is awfully soon to be thinking about the 2012 elections and would be interpreted as sniping at the current prez. what's his name. By going after and defeating a signature bill of Obama's and winning will rocket her to the top. Then she will pursue the Presidency.

Alaska would be hurt big time if Oil production was cut as it probably is now just by the threat of this bogus bill.

To me this is the only thing that makes sense. She's not a quitter, she has demonstrated her ability to fight on the campaign trail and almost pulled off an upset had it not been for that Albatros around her neck, aka John McCain.

This is my opinion, I could be wrong but to me it makes sense.

In the flurry of interest in states seceding from the Union has anybody thought of the state most likely to secede-Alaska, bought not long ago from Russia? Alaska with so much natural resources that it doesn't need the lower 49/49. Palin was ridiculed for being able to see Russia from her house. Hell, it's a lot closer to Russia than the rest of the U.S. I know some Alaskans and I'll guarantee you the "effete snobs" in the Northeast (to quote Spiro Agnew) can't stay in the ring with them. They'd feed John Kerry and Ted Kennedy to the bears.

Isn't it ominous that the names Palin and Putin are so similar? So unlike Soetero or Obama. Two strong people, born to lead, not organize. Russia might easily "buy" back Alaska by just extending an invitation to come on home when you've had enough of the abuse. Sarah has had enough. Pray she doesn't meet her neighbor Putin. She has a lot of time to travel now. She has more in common with him than with the Kenyan Candidate.

I'm watching two black sisters play tennis for the championship of the world right now. Beautiful women, role models. To me they represent America and they have more in common with Sarah Palin than with M. Obama and with all their great wealth they are still named Williams (anybody know Michelle's maiden name? I don't). If the governor of my almost home state, South Carolina, taught us nothing else in his Argentine trip, it was that we'd better turn the leadership of this country over to the women. The men seem to be obsessed with sex and money.

Whatever Sarah Palin's plans are I support her 100%. She is a breath of fresh air in a stale political scene. She is a real patriot, not a phony flag waver. She believes what she says, so she doesn't change her stands to fit the crowd, or need a teleprompter because she forgot what the lie was.

Both Mark and Horace make valid points. I don't know what Sarah's future holds, but I don't doubt that she will be working for America and Alaska.

I firmly believe that Palin has the purest of motives in her choice to leave the governor's office. She refused the hand of Socialism publicly, offending those who traditionally suckle at the public teat, including those in her own party. As for ceceeding from the Union, that bullshit was tried, not for the reasons that the media would have you believe either. I lived throught that crap, packed heat all the time in and around the cities of that State. True Alaskans hate federal intervention and it's slimy clutches and tentacles of control, during the development of the oil field every eco-terrorist, whackjob environmentalist and politician were lined up to obstruct and get their carpetbagging pockets lined. Joe Vogel, led the scessionist movement because of the Federal Taking of Alaska State land, the same battle that Palin has with ANWR today. It's a states rights issue. Jimmy Carter and his halfwits locked up the entire state, blocking access to the wilderness to all but federal goon squad law enforcement. How about Ruby Ridge, Waco, the Elian Gonzales incident, that was the scale of invasiveness in Alaska.
Palin has done her homework, the rest of the country needs to do theirs and quit hoping that the friendly Henries in DC are going to do what's best for them. There are tremendous resources in Alaska that can make the nation independent. Oil, Mining, Coal and Natural Gas, the Democrats and environmentalists want to ration and dictate your lifestyle, they don't want you or I to be independent. Wake up America, these bastards are not your friends!!!

Mark, I love how she wants more drilling
there. It is so important on so many levels.
Her passion for this is s wonderful and I
really have a lot of confidence in her
that she can get people to listen.

If we could just drill more for oil it
would be a real answer to prayer.

Horace, I don't remember what Michelle's
maiden name is, I know I posted it only
one time, but I forgot.

Nicholas was watching the same tennis match.

Tom, me too. I went over to Team Sarah to
see how it is going there and everyone is
saying much like is said here. We all support
Sarah and are all for her.

more conservative poliicians would learn.
