Business groups blast healthcare reform
A coalition of business groups released a letter today panning the healthcare reform legislation pending in Congress.
The letter, addressed to members of Congress, was signed by seemingly hundreds of business groups across the country, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. (The letter is one page; the list of signatories is 35 pages long.)
"Collectively, we are dedicated to improving our nation's health care system, especially in terms of lowering health care costs, improving the quality of care, and making sure every American has access to affordable coverage," the letter says. "However, we believe that the legislation currently being considered would not improve the system, but jeopardize the parts of the system that currently work."
Specifically, the business groups cited the employer mandate as a cause for concern.
"This 'pay or play' mandate is especially bad because employers are also required to pay the majority of employee premiums," the letter reads. "Even with some exemptions, this provision will kill many jobs."

Wild Thing - This is a great letter. The basic problems of the government health care bill are explained without going into unnecessary detail. I noticed in the Texas list that most of the businesses listed were in West Texas, Lubbock and Amarillo. I think this businesss coalition was done on a limited regional level. In the Dallas-Ft Worth area alone I think there would be enough signatories to fill a hundred pages. Some states only have a few businesses listed. I am sure there will be other letters with other businesses listed. No business, especially small companies, want this proposed national health insurance plan. I just heard on Fox, from a Horses ass a democrat, that if passed the Health care bill will not go into effect until 2013. So what is the hurry ? The democrats interviewed, swore that the systme is out of control, Doctors don't have enough time to diagnose diseases or properly take care of their patients. This is total BS. about the limited regional level. It has
to be that and it makes me feel better.
I could not figure out why it was not
a longer list for so many of the States.
the rush to vote. It has got to be
that they know once the word gets out
like it is how horrible it is they
want to keep that knowledge down as
much as possible. More time to vote
means more people finding out
what is in this monster bill.
