First ( Lady) Kicks Off "United We Serve" Summer On Monday
Dear Friend,
Last week, I announced United We Serve – a nationwide call to service challenging you and all Americans to volunteer this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America.
And when I say “all,” I mean everyone – young and old, from every background, all across the country. We need individuals, community organizations, corporations, foundations, and our government to be part of this effort.
Today, for the official kick off of United We Serve, members of my administration have fanned out across America to participate in servi ce events and encourage all Americans to join them.
The First Lady is rolling up her sleeves and getting to work too. But before she headed out today, she asked me to share this message with you.
On June 22, 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama officially kicked off United We Serve -- a call to all Americans to join a volunteer effort this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America, one community at a time. The initiative is led by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency dedicated to fostering service in communities across the country. Learn more at Serve.gov.

Our nation faces some of the greatest challenges it has in generations and we know it’s going to take a lot of hard work to get us back on track.
While Michelle and I are calling on every American to participate in United We Serve, the call to service doesn’t end this fall. We need to stay involved in our towns and communities for a long time to come. After all, America’s new foundation will be built one neighborhood at a time – and that starts with you.

First Lady Kicks Off "United We Serve" Summer On Monday
Washington, D.C. (AHN) - First Lady Michelle Obama will help kick off the "United We Serve" project on Monday with a visit to an elementary school in San Francisco. Michelle Obama will meet with the First Lady of California Maria Shriver and Corporation for National and Community Service acting CEO Nicky Goren at Bret Harte Public Elementary School.
"United We Serve is an extended call to service by President Obama challenging all Americans to help lay a new foundation for growth in this country by engaging in sustained, meaningful community service," the White House said.
United We Serve will run from June 22nd through Sept. 11th. Across the country, the Obama administration is touting kick off events at the cabinet level.

I do volunteer--I've chosen my group--the 912ers. We're having a food drive on Saturday at our local park to counter protest Government controlled health care.
All food collected will go to our local food bank. We do it as a family.

Volunteering is a private affair so is giving, that ACORN bullshit isn't gonna cut it around me.
