Soldier Battles Taliban in Pink Undies
Specialist Zachary Boyd, from the US Army First Battalion, 26th Infantry, takes defensive position at firebase Restrepo after receiving fire from Taliban positions in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan's Kunar Province.
Soldier Battles Taliban in Pink Undies
A soldier from North Texas is making national headlines and proving that real men do wear pink undies.
An Associated Press photographer captured 19-year-old Army specialist Zachary Boyd fighting off a Taliban ambush in Afghanistan -- in his underwear.
The photo of Boyd, clad in the pink "I *heart* NY" printed boxers ended up on Tuesday's front page of the New York Times.
His mother, who lives in Keller, said her son was sleeping when someone opened fire on his base and he didn't have time to put on his uniform or boots.
Boyd called his parents on Monday to let them know he might be in the paper. His father said that after he logged onto the New York Times' Web site he laughed for the next five minutes.
"I knew he was a boxer guy, I knew that for sure," Tommy Boyd told WBAP. "I did not know they were pink, and I didn't know they said, 'I love New York.'"
Wild Thing's comment..........

I have a picture of hubby when he was in Afghanistan after a fire fight. He looked like the cousin in Christmas Vacation "shitter's full". Flack vest, boots, boxers, kevlar and no front teeth and all his weapons. That's what happens when someone wakes you up in the middle of the night! I love this and the guy next to him has his tennis shoes on instead of boots!

That's Americans for you. We'll fight wearing anything, including nothing! We aren't afraid of anything! This is a great picture--pink boxers, tennies with no socks, I love it!!!!!!

I've been in a bunker with guys wearing nothing but a flak vest and boxers. The important thing is that like Spc Boyd they had their weapon and gear.
God Bless Boyd and his buddies.

God I love our guys!!! I'm so laughing, my wife sent me a pair of shorts in a care package with hearts all over them for Valentines Day, I was thoroughly harassed, but at the time wore no undies. I've reported to the line in much the same condition, clad in a pot and flak jacket without blouse or boots but always with that rifle, the best memory was of an SFC buck naked hauling it for the bunker, rifle in one hand, trying to put his flak jacket on and balance a bouncing steel pot at the same time, we ragged him too about his indecent exposure to the enemy saving us.

Not me out in the field never even took my boots off, that's what I was afraid of getting caught with my trousers down or off. Also never wanted any surprises sleeping in my boots.
But God Bless this Young man more power to him.

Mark, I can understand how that would be.
One of the Veterans that was a neighbor in
Calilf. would share his stories of looking
for his boots.
