Obama speech to offer personal commitment to Muslims
Barack Obama will offer a "personal commitment" to bridge US differences with Muslims in his long-awaited speech to the Islamic world next week in Egypt, aides said.
But White House advisors said Friday that Obama would not shy away from addressing "tough issues" in the speech on Thursday at the University of Cairo which will be co-hosted by Al-Azhar University, an ancient center of Islam and learning.
"The speech will outline his personal commitment to engagement, based upon mutual interests and mutual respect," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.
"He will discuss how the United States and Muslim communities around the world can bridge some of the differences that have divided them.
"He will review particular issues of concern, such as violent extremism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and he will discuss new areas for partnership going forward that serve the mutual interests of our people."
Obama foreign policy advisor Mark Lippert added that the address, which makes good on an Obama campaign promise, would emulate some other speeches by the president which have touched on difficult issues.
Obama, who lived for several years as a child in mainly Muslim Indonesia and traces part of his ancestry to a Muslim family in Kenya, will open his trip next Wednesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, holding talks on Middle East peace, Iran, terrorism and other issues with King Abdullah.
The next day, his visit to Cairo will include the speech and talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who cancelled a visit to Washington this week because of the death of a grandson.
Obama then heads to Germany, where he will stay in the former East German city of Dresden, hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel and visit the former Nazi death camp at Buchenwald.
He will also visit US troops wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq and the US medical center at Landstuhl.
Obama's last stop will be in France on Saturday, where he will take part in 65th anniversary commemorations of the D-Day allied landings in Normandy, alongside French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

While he's making this speech...let's move him out of the White House. It’s too bad he’s coming back to America.

What mutual interest? Oil? I don't think so. He's missed the whole point of being President. You don't bow to the Saudi King unless you are a muslim head of state. You don't go apologizing for America, either.

During the campaign, the Soutpiel puppet was defended by no less that Oreilly and others on our side and democrats too, that obama was not a Moslem. Yet as Lynn says, he bowed to the Saudi King, He toured Mosque's in Turkey, has Promised the Palestinians Jerusalem as their Capital in a two state solution and the Jews would be left with the pre 1967 war borders.
Looks like the Soutpiel has some real issues as far as his identity is concerned.
Also strange, he spent 20 years in the 'Pews' at Wrights church, supposed Christian, yet has not been reported as going to church on Sunday, Christian day of worship and, also, refused the to go to the prayer breakfast since his immaculation...Now thats odd, or is it ?

Last night Fox's own Geraldo Rivera had his ass in an uproar about Republicans questioning Herr Obama's "appointment" of Circuit Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor. He chastised the Republicans and Rush Limbaugh as being radicals for questioning her qualifications by her association of and the defense of known radicals and her unorthodox decisions, she legislates from the bench, that is unconstitutional. Clearly Rivera has been in the tank for Obama all along and himself a liberal at minimum if you will. Sotomayor was picked by Obama to destroy our Constitution from within.
Good points above too, where is the Christian in this Christian? How many of the Christian world get visits inside mosques? Saudi puppet - anyone? How did that post turtle get there? Soros for sure but is it Saudi funding?
Rivera has the same narcissistic, in you face, camera image as Herr Obama, both say one thing and do another. He's grown wealthy from his camera exploits, sensationalism is his game, even if he exploits and endangers combatants on the battlefield, even if he endangers citizens with his open borders and vociferous latino support, we are talking about illegal activity, whether it be illegal entry, illegal appointments or the illegal usurpation of the United States constitution and it's sovereignty.

Yes all, this POS will go to the Mid-east and apologize for America. We need no apologizes, only someone that will stand up and tell these people that we have been the most open and supportive nation on this earth of freedom and human rights.
He must also give a strong stand in support of Israel.
