Hawaii lawmakers back the creation of 'Islam Day'
Hawaii's state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate "Islam Day" — over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn't want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.
The Senate's two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.
"I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember," said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue — same-sex civil unions.
The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House.
The bill seeks to recognize "the rich religious, scientific, cultural and artistic contributions" that Islam and the Islamic world have made. It does not call for any spending or organized celebration of Islam Day.
"We are a state of tolerance. We understand that people have different beliefs," said Sen. Will Espero, a Democrat. "We may not all agree on every single item and issue out there, but to say and highlight the negativity of the Islamic people is an insult to the majority" of believers "who are good law-abiding citizens of the world."
But Republican Sen. Sam Slom argued that the United States has become too sympathetic toward Islamic extremists.
"I don't think there's any country in the history of the world that has been more tolerant than the United States of America, and because of that tolerance, we've looked the other way a lot of times, and many thousands of our citizens have been killed by terrorists," said Slom, a Republican.
The lone Democrat voting against the bill opposed it on church-state separation fears.

I really don't get it! Do they have a ton of Muslim's living there? How could they, I have been to Hawaii many times, lost count of how many times for work in the past and a Muslim would be offended by all the bare arms there. LOL Not to mention the bare stomachs and backs and legs walking around in swimsuits. hahahaha What are they going to do make everyone on the island cover up? No freakin way. This is beyond stupid!

And as far as a religion their ALLAH is a pagan god after the Moon -god, and Mecca was in fact built as a shrine for the Moon-god. Muhammad was raised in the religion of the Moon-god Allah. But he went one step further than his fellow pagan Arabs. While they believed that Allah, i.e. the Moon-god, was the greatest of all gods and the supreme deity in a pantheon of deities, Muhammad decided that Allah was not only the greatest god but the only god.
The pagan Arabs worshipped the Moon-god Allah by praying toward Mecca several times a day; making a pilgrimage to Mecca; running around the temple of the Moon-god called the Kabah; kissing the black stone.
The Muslim's claim that Allah is the God of the Bible and that Islam arose from the religion of the prophets and apostles is refuted by solid, overwhelming archeological evidence. Islam is nothing more than a revival of the ancient Moon-god cult.

Besides rearranging the New York City skyline, what has Islam contributed to the US?
Historically, besides forcing the creation of the US Marines in the 1800's to combat Islamic, Barbary Coast pirates, what has Islam contributed to the US?
Have any new inventions, medicines, architecture, innovations, art, technological advances, or anything useful, anything at all come from the part of the world that practices radical Islam?
What did Obama mean by the statement, "including my own country"? I mean if he considers himself American, and not Indonesian.

And this moron in the white house is worried about 'waterboarding'. He should look to 'His' own people for guidance on interrogation afterall he hasn't mentioned 'his Christian faith' since January 20. Now avoids the National Day of Prayer, which of course is Christian. Yet he wants us to believe Moslems are peaceful, its just there pecular customs we Westerners don't understand, like beheading your wife for daring to file for a divorce, Buffalo, New York, or the quaint custom of shooting and killing your own daughters because they wanted a 'life'.
The religion of peace, I guess it all depends on your frame of reference.

Hundreds of years ago, Islam had some contributions to science but as the time moved on, Islam stayed put. In the modern world of the past 100 years, I can't seem to find one contribution by Islam to science.
In Islamic countries, most all technical work is done by foreigners. They have no factories that produce anything for export or medical facilities that develop new procedures for medicine. Other than oil, they have nothing to contribute to the world.

Hawaii is an ultra liberal state. I did not know they would go this far this easily though. Too many Mai Tais?
Liberal share several traits with muslims. One of them is a tendency towards suicide while taking others with you, in this case cultural suicide.

Does anybody know the Hawaii laws on taking money from foreign interests? I cannot believe that even a band of ultra-liberals like the Hawaii Democrats would vote this into existence without large dollops of Muslim sovereign wealth. That they would hide Obama's birth certificate or lack of one I can believe. This, however I cannot believe is their idea. Either money is coming directly to the State Senators or it is being laundered through businesses that have relations to Muslim countries.

Just because we have not found double action pumps in the Roman ruins does not mean that they were not in use since they would have been made from wood. The knowledge was available.

Aloha from you guessed it, Oahu.
I saw this on Yahoo yesterday and then after like an hour, poof, it was gone. Nothing in the local papers or nightly news, go figure.
We have around 3,000 muslims here on the island and from what I hear, most go to UH or are from Somalia and now reside here.
Our gov, Linda Lingle will never sign this (I hope)
I wonder when we get Catholic day? Come to think of it, what did the muslims give the state of Hawaii anyway? This state is just sorry. I need to go back to Chicago just to get away from all the union and political corruption! (now thats saying something)
