Federal Agency Warns of Radicals On RIGHT
9 Page report sent to police
The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.
A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.
"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning says.
The White House has distanced itself from the analysis. When asked for comment on its contents, White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said, "The President is focused not on politics but rather taking the steps necessary to protect all Americans from the threat of violence and terrorism regardless of its origins. He also believes those who serve represent the best of this country, and he will continue to ensure that our veterans receive the respect and benefits they have earned."
It says the federal government "will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months" to gather information on "rightwing extremist activity in the United States."
Homeland Security spokeswoman Sara Kuban said the report is one in an ongoing series of assessments by the department to "facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the U.S."
The report says extremist groups have used President Obama as a recruiting tool.
Congressional debates about immigration and gun control also make extremist groups suspicious and give them a rallying cry, the report says.
"It is unclear if either bill will be passed into law; nonetheless, a correlation may exist between the potential passage of gun control legislation and increased hoarding of ammunition, weapons stockpiling, and paramilitary training activities among rightwing extremists," the report said.
The FBI was quoted Monday as saying that, since November, more than 7 million people have applied for criminal background checks in order to buy weapons.
The report could signify a change in emphasis for Homeland Security under former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano. A German magazine quoted Ms. Napolitano as rebranding "terrorism" as "man-made disasters."

Wild Thing's comment......
I don't think even our worst fears went this far.
Welcome to Obama's America the land where jihadists roam free and citizens are targeted.
Everyday obama either violates the United states with his hatred and revenge speeches, writes a executive orders to further his marxist agenda, starts new discussion commission to control citizens and take wealth for reparations.
Now just like in his campaign last year, obama is using a government office against the people and freedom of speech. Remember the Missouri prosecutors said they will threaten and prosecute anyone who says anything about Barack Obama and he does not approve.
Obama is finding every power he can use against us. If he loses control now he cannot push through every last bit of his plan through media and congressional fraud.
"The FBI was quoted Monday as saying that, since November, more than 7 million people have applied for criminal background checks in order to buy weapons."
This IMO speaks volumes as to how so many in our country can see how Obama is destroying it and we might not be able to protect ourselvs from terrorists etc.
As I was working on this post I was listening to talk radio and a man named Grover Norquist (President-Americans for Tax Reform) on the show.
Grover Norquist website
He was asked by Bill Bennett about this document from DHS. He said yes it is for real and he is completely outraged by it. He also said that what has been happening is that Obama's people ( his voters) during the campaign and even since he has been elected have been calling the police on things they hear and see just as Obama had them doing in MO. and PA during the campaign. A bumper sticker they don't like or it could be anything. Harmless things that would go unnoticed they have been reporting to the police. How often or how much he did not know. He ended with by saying " this is very scary and everyone should be alarmed". Bennett asked him, you really think it is scary? And Glover said Yes I do!"
( Bill Bennett is somewhere between a rino, head in the sand, non passionate ex-Democrat and now Republican that has a radio talk show. He just happens to be on a radio channel that comes in very clear where I live otherwise I would be throwing couch pillows at him for being such a lame, horrible, boring rino that he is LOL )
I am mentioning about what I was listening to as little by little people are finding out about this and all are reacting the same way.

This all looks and sounds like the directive from the Mo. state police that was published than withdrawn and disavowed by the "higher ups " in the state. Was there some kind of leak here or was Napolatano trying to float a trial baloon ? You are right- all of this exceeds my worst nightmares. Pass enough laws and soon all of us will be outlaws.

Well, most of the commenters here and on other blogs I read certainly would qualify as right wing. They are also America loving, Constitution supporting, free thinking patriots. That is exactly what Obama des not want.
I thought when the Department of Homeland Security was formed and grew so fast, that it was probably another government agency that was going to be more of a problem and a cost than a help, like Depts of Energy and Education. I also wondered if in the wrong hands it could turn on us. It appears all my worries were correct.

That's a hoot! I care about my country and the lives of my friends and family and I'm called a "radical?" Isn't that like calling the kettle black? Come on, I'm no more a radical than Donny and Marie! But I will stand up for what I believe in.

Tom you're right. From what Governor Perry said yesterday looks like DHS will be spending a lot of time in Texas. Chasing all those Right-Wing extremist. If this does go through look for a huge exodus of Right-wing extremist migrating to Texas. Me included.
