Biden to US: Hunker in the Bunker!
Joe Biden said Thursday he advised his family to stay off airplanes and subways because of the new swine flu, a remark that forced the vice president's office to backtrack and prompted one airline official to complain about "fear-mongering."

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said on Thursday he would tell his family to stay off planes or subways to avoid swine flu, prompting his office to go into damage control and the travel industry to complain.
Asked on NBC's "Today" show what he would tell members of his family if they asked him whether they should get on a commercial airliner to Mexico in the next week, Biden said:
"I would tell members of my family -- and I have -- I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now."
He said the problem is that "when one person sneezes it goes all the way through the aircraft."
"I would not be, at this point, if they had another way of transportation, suggesting they ride the subway. So from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation," he said.

Can you imagine being on Biden's staff and your sole function is to re-interpret, for the press, Public consumption, what 'Joe' really meant. Damage control specialist. Biden is a compete Putz, hoof in mouth disease.
Makes you wonder why Biden was picked in the first place, he brought nothing to the ticket, except constant gaffs, mis-speak and a host of other maladies. The man is virtually useless.
So why did berry pick him. I think, Biden the putz is perfect for obama, Biden offers no competiton, when it comes to stealing the limelight that way obama is always the center of attention.
With this remark by Biden, I would be willing to bet he would close the border if Biden had the opportunity.
But Joe Biden is the 'Fredo' of the white house. If ole Joe were smart he'd watch his back, and especially taking one of the kids fishing.

What Biden said shocked the heck out of me. He actually knew what he was talking about when he referenced flying in civilian aircraft and the health of the air inside of these aircraft.
To fly more fuel efficient, civilian airlines only tap enough bleed air off the engines to maintain pressurization. Pressurization is maintained by controlling the amount of air that leaves the cabin. The air they use for air conditioning is cabin air recirculated through units which heat and cool it. When you fly, you're breathing the same air over and over and over again.
Military aircraft, the ones I worked, didn't use this type of setup. The bleed air system fed a constant flow of air into the cabin through and air conditioning pack. This air was continually exhausted overboard at specific rates to maintain pressurization but was never recirculated. The cabin always had fresh clean air. The vast majority of my USAF career was spent maintaining these very systems.
If what they're telling us about this flue epidemic is true, I wouldn't fly on any civilian aircraft until things die down.
