Teleprompter Addict B.Hussein Obama ~ No Great Speaker!
President Sticks to the Script, With a Little Help
WASHINGTON
As he introduced his new choice for secretary of health and human services in the East Room this week, President Obama turned his head from right to left, but he was not looking at the audience. He was reading from two teleprompters strategically set up outside the tight television camera shot.
When he was done, the teleprompters quietly began retracting down to the floor. As she stepped forward to make her remarks, the nominee, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, seemed momentarily surprised.
Don’t mind the little... ,” Mr. Obama said with a smile.
“It’s disappearing!” she said, jokingly.
Presidents have been using teleprompters for more than half a century, but none have relied on them as extensively as Mr. Obama has so far. While presidents typically have used them for their most important speeches — an inaugural, State of the Union or Oval Office address — Mr. Obama uses them for routine announcements and even for the opening statement of his only news conference so far.
He used them during a visit to a Caterpillar plant in Peoria, Ill. He used them to make brief remarks opening his “fiscal responsibility summit.” He used them to discuss endangered species, even recalling a visit to national parks as an 11-year-old. “That was an experience I will never forget,” he said, reading from the teleprompter.
When answering questions without a script, Mr. Blakeman, a former aide to President Bush said, “his speech is very halted and you can see him take a lot of time to think about what he’s going to say.”
Kevin Sullivan, Mr. Bush’s last White House communications director, said the frequent use of teleprompters risked making Mr. Obama look staged.
Wild Thing's comment..........
ROTFLMAO this is too rich! He can't even introduce someone without a teleprompter!
What do they expect? He can’t order a Happy Meal without a teleprompter.
The teleprompter dependency is bad enough, but the “tennis match” swiveling of his head drives me friggin’ nuts.
If the NY Times is trashing him, he must have really done something to tick off the press.
"When answering questions without a script, Mr. Blakeman, a former aide to President Bush said, “his speech is very halted and you can see him take a lot of time to think about what he’s going to say.”
He also has an earpiece. He getting the answer over the earpiece. That is why he "takes a lot of time" before answering.
Maybe another reason he uses teleprompter is because he can’t look into the camera, he has cold dead eyes. Better to avoid eye contact of any kind, so more people don’t notice.

Even Republicans are fawning over how Obama is such a great communicator. I guess he does have a good ability to read a teleprompter and make it sound like it's his own words.

Never thought he was a great speaker. He is worse that Clinton. Neither one say any thing when they talk and pbo has less command presence.

Obama did not have a teleprompter in his interview with George Stephanopolis when he referenced, "my muslim religion".

Halted speech, see him thinking ...That is a total disconnect from brain to mouth. If he can't see it on the screen he's lost. He couldn't order a happy meal without screwing it up.

Must be his great intellect that Jack Cafferty was talking about on CNN, after all "he's smarter than all of congress put together". It's just that all that "smart" is so packed in there that he just needs a bit of help uttering all those "Uh's and Let me tell you this" statements. Soros's personal idiot savant, George is proud of him, look Ma no strings!!!!

Huge laugh at that picture!
How the heck do Obama and Gibbs communicate? They say "uh" every 3rd word or so. I've gotten so I just look at my dog and go UHHHHHHHHHH when they start speaking...he's easily amused.
And no, I don't get the great orator thing either.
Then there's "have you got that email number?" Biden...I got a charge out of them closing Joe's meet with the unions to press yesterday obviously to avoid embarrassment as he fuddles along "stand up Chuck!"
I did hear someone reported him talking about how you need to go home with the one who brung ya. What a command of the English language that one!
lol...gird your loins, Barack America is out on the campaign trail today...again.
Oh and one more thing, they were not amused in Peoria with Obama's stop at the Cat plant. This is good:
Earlier this week, Congressman Schock spoke to a group of bloggers at the Heritage Foundation where he recounted a story from February when he was able to escort President Obama back to his home district for a speech on the Stimulus bill. During the speech, the President called on Schock and told the workers at the local Caterpillar plant to lobby the Congressman in suport of the legislation. Schock recounted: “The funny part was, I stuck around for 45 minutes while he was in there taking pictures…and [the Caterpillar employees] came up to me and said ‘Hey Aaron, stick to your guns. This is a bad bill’. The irony was..the local…UAW did not endorse the stimulus bill.” It turns out Caterpillar President and CEO Jim Owens had also been ambushed by the President, as he told Schock aboard Air Force One.

BobF., like you said Republicans have been doing it too, like the ones that go on the Sunday talk shows etc. I wish they would stop, it reminds me of McCain always saying " my friend". haha
Posted by: Wild Thing at March 6, 2009 06:27 PM
Odin, I agree.
To me a great speaker is one you wish they would not stop, they hold your attention, like charisma kind of thing.

Eden, I am so glad you got a kick out of it too. I thought it was hilarious, when I saw it I could hardly wait to post the graphic. haha
Wow thank you so much Eden for the information about the Cat. meeting. And the link too. Since I grew up in Peoria I have a special fondness for Cat. I knew a lot of people that worked there.

BRO BHO and Uncle Joe Stalin Biden are NOT great communicators. In my profession, I often observe
to see if the spoken word (message) jives with the body language: eyes, gestures, facial expressions, voice tone / reflection, etc....Obamessiah and Bozo Biden are as phony as Barny Frank is strait.... They're meglomaniacs, narcissists and dangerous - big time. Our country is running on good luck and fumes now!

Great communication skills. Today in a movement where Clinton described the meeting as "a fresh start." A bowel movement Hillary!!!
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, smooth move Exlax, Lavrov needled her by pointing out that because of a translation error by the American staff, Biden's idea, the Biden "reset" button was labeled not "reset" but "overcharge." Clinton tried to laugh off the mistake, but Lavrov insisted, "You got it wrong." A few minutes later, however, he promised to put it on his desk. Hey, she has Gravitas, it's inbred in democrats, Ich bin ein Berliner thus John Fitzgelded Kennedy's "I am a jelly doughnut". No shame amongst these arrogant ignoramuses.
Obama insults Great Britain, three times in two months, consorts with Hamas, has a horizontal liplock on Amajinedad and is alienating all our Allies, for Communist allies. So much for United States image abroad.
