Obama is comparing the stock market to the daily tracking polls used during campaigns, saying that paying too close attention to Wall Street's "fits and starts" could lead to bad long-term policy.
Obama spoke to reporters Tuesday after meeting in the Oval Office with visiting British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Obama said he is not measuring policies against "the day-to-day gyrations of the stock market," but by whether lending is flowing more freely, businesses are investing and the unemployed are going back to work.
He said he is "absolutely confident" that those things will happen.

This unConstitutional President is destroying the retirement of millions of people, investments of hard working people, companies, small and big business, and he says he is not concerned about "gyrations".

I think he is certainly showing a lack of understanding of economics in general. He really has no clue and is relying on bad advice from a guy who could not even correctly submit his own tax return. Does not look good for the rest of us.

Thanks to the political crooks like Barney Frank, Christoplher Dodd, Maxine Waters, et al(almost all Dems or RINOs) most of America has lost up to half of it's retirement values. Now we have a President who not only doesn't understand the free market, he isn't even familiar with the terminology.
Obama thinks only government can run the country. He believes it has to be a socialist government. A socialist government by nature is at odds with The Constitution and free market economic laws. So America is now on course for a major war of ideals. Could get really bad.
Buy more ammo!!

It's tough to stay focused, I'm reminded of the Dire Straits Money For Nothing song. They are riding on the wave like a surfer, when it crashes we won't be able to rescue them, they will have spent their goodwill. All efforts of stopping the truth are in force as witnessed by the attacks on Limbaugh, who only publicly voiced to the world what freedom really was. Economics??? Graft, extortion and corruption Chicago style as practiced in the Communist controlled environs of higher learning and now in all four branches of government. I observed something yesterday that is telling in itself, at the popular lefty shopping center, I never saw one Obama sticker on the cars, is this some massive underground movement now to to not be identified with the Omnipotent one? Buyers remorse already you f'king jellyfish, or is it fear of a backlash for your treason?
