Obama LIES and Trashes Dick Cheney Tonight on Leftie "60 Minutes"
The president also addresses the U.S. financial crisis, healthcare, automaker bailouts, Afghanistan and Pakistan in the CBS segment, which is scheduled to air Sunday evening, tonight ( March 22nd)
Obama criticizes Cheney's approach to terrorism in '60 Minutes' interview
Obama, rejecting former Vice President Dick Cheney's contention that Obama has put the nation at greater risk of terrorism, suggests in an interview airing tonight on "60 Minutes" that the previous administration's stance was an "advertisement for anti-American sentiment."
"How many terrorists have actually been brought to justice under the philosophy that is being promoted by Vice President Cheney?" Obama asks. "It hasn't made us safer. What it has been is a great advertisement for anti-American sentiment."
The "60 Minutes" interview is Obama's longest since taking office, CBS says. The interview was edited down from a 90-minute session taped Friday evening.
The president also defends Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner against growing criticism of the government's handling of the financial crisis. If Geithner were to try to resign, Obama said, the president would tell him: "Sorry, buddy, you've still got the job."
Cheney, who has been outspoken in his criticism of the Obama administration, said on CNN's "State of the Union" last Sunday that Obama has increased the nation's risk of terrorist attacks by jettisoning key elements of the Bush administration's aggressive approach.
Since taking office, Obama has announced plans to close the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention facility; banned waterboarding; ordered the closure of secret interrogation sites; and ordered CIA interrogators to abide by rules in the Army Field Manual.
"Now he is making some choices that, in my mind, will, in fact, raise the risk to the American people of another attack, Cheney said of Obama.
Asked by CBS' Steve Kroft about releasing prisoners who have returned to terrorist groups, Obama replies: "There is no doubt that we have not done a particularly effective job in sorting through who are truly dangerous individuals . . . to make sure [they] are not a threat to us."
Yet, the president maintains, the Bush administration's policy on detainees at Guantanamo -- including long incarcerations without trial -- was "unsustainable."
In the interview, Obama also addresses the economy, the proposed 90% tax on bonuses for top officials working at bailed-out firms, healthcare, carmaker bailouts, Afghanistan and Pakistan, CBS says.
The president says that neither he nor Geithner has mentioned resignation from his Treasury post, according to CBS, and that criticism is natural, considering the circumstances of the economy.
"It's going to take a little bit more time than we would like to make sure that we get this plan just right," Obama says. "Of course, then we'd still be subject to criticism -- 'What's taken so long? You've been in office a whole 40 days and you haven't solved the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression.' "
Obama was asked about grumbling from Wall Street because the administration criticized bonuses for executives at financial institutions collecting government bailouts.
"They need to spend a little time outside of New York. Because . . . if you go to North Dakota, or you go to Iowa, or you go to Arkansas, where folks would be thrilled to be making $75,000 a year -- without a bonus -- then I think they'd get a sense of why people are frustrated."
Wild Thing's comment........
"How many terrorists have actually been brought to justice under the philosophy that is being promoted by Vice President Cheney?" Obama asks. "It hasn't made us safer.
Total outright LIE! We have not been attacked since 9-11 and what Bush and Cheney did with the Patriot Act etc. are some of the reasons why.
There have been many threats all these past years since 9-11, a person can see them listed at some of the Homeland Security sites. Each one ot the attempts have been stopped in their tracks. we were safer - thanks to Bush/Cheney. And when you became your people's president , now the terrorits are now wondering what the heck you mean by a "moderate" Taliban!
Cheney has accomplished exactly what he wanted: he has drawn out Obama and got him on the record, on a subject on which Obama is weak and his policy position is "cruising for a bruising" And one more thing, the 9-11 attacks were planned during the time the Clintons were in office, and Arafat was being coddled, and Bill was facilitating middle east peace. We have all been informed of his Obama where were you, those terorirst that day planned that attack way before Bush too office.
Hey Obama. Yeah, you, Barack: You're not fit to shine Dick Cheney's shoes. You're not fit to carry George Bush's baggage. What makes you think a hot-house affirmative action mutant Harvard-gimme-da-degree qualifies you to comment on anything more complicated than whether I want to supersize those fries?
I wonder if his teleprompter was there, or did he just have them rewind the tape during the interview so he could constantly correct his stupidity.

Of course we're frustrated, but not for the reasons he laid out. We've been kept safe from harm and the terrorists are where they need to be-dead or in prison. This idiot is so full of himself. I wouldn't trust him with a potato gun!

I don't want terrorists brought to justice, I want them shot on the battlefield.
When enemy combatants were captured during WWII, did we bring them to trial or did we keep them on prison camps until the war ended?

It is leftie shows like 60 minutes that caused me to donate my TV to my granddaughter. If I can't read it at FOXNews.com, or good reliable blogs such as this one, I just don't need it. Thanks for the coverage. And thanks for the pro-troop writings.

Now with Obama in charge (God Help Us), I now worry about our homeland security. I felt safe under the other administration.
Democrats are wussies when it comes to wars. Look at Clinton, he was a draft dodger and he decided to let Bin Laden live (3 times) when he could have had ordered to have him taken out. I really don't get the thinking of these left wingers.
I sure wish my vote last November could have canceled out more than just one wrong vote.

Obama seems absolutely publicity addicted. Two months in office and he has been on Leno and now 60 minutes. I hate 60 Minutes. They will ask him softball questions, not show his telepromter at work and edit out all of his gaffes. Pure damn propaganda.
I'll not watch it.

When they get rid of the Constitution, what will all these lackey Main Stream Media types do, then ? They now got the stooge they had always wanted as President, he is taking Liberties away as quickly as he can. You'd think it would dawn on these willing 'useful idiots' that they are next.

Tom, he sure is, and you know what, not all but a lot of people in Hollywood have been like that. Usually the ones that never work lol. Obama should stop being president, head to Hollwyood and get his ego fed there doing bit parts in that no one goes to see.
He is a real camera whore and I would say that right to his ugly mug.

Mark, your so right, they will be next. And all their hate for our Constitution protects them too and they will regret the day they got rid of it if this all keeps up, this going against it and treating it like they have been.
Posted by: Wild Thing at March 22, 2009 06:51 PM
You know Chad, if they ever reach their goal of reducing our military to nothing, they won't have anyone to protect them!!! Sweet revenge!!!!
