Michelle Obama Plants "Kitchen Garden" At The White House
Obamas to Plant Vegetable Garden at White House
Michelle Obama will begin digging up a patch of the South Lawn on Friday to plant a vegetable garden, the first at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt’s victory garden in World War II. There will be no beets — the president does not like them — but arugula will make the cut.
While the organic garden will provide food for the first family’s meals and formal dinners, its most important role, Mrs. Obama said, will be to educate children about healthful, locally grown fruit and vegetables at a time when obesity and diabetes have become a national concern.
Twenty-three fifth graders from Bancroft Elementary School in Washington will help her dig up the soil for the 1,100-square-foot plot, in a spot visible to passers-by on E Street.
It has just been reported that the head gardener at The White House has been dismissed after 28 years of loyal service to many US presidents.
When interviewed the gardener protested his innocence and said,
"All I did was go into the Oval Office and ask, "Has anyone seen the spade and hoe?"

Planting a garden? I would bet this woman has never planted a garden in her life.
You can bet once the photographers left, she threw the rake down and headed for the house. You'll never see her out there, except when cameras are present for propaganda shots, weeding and tilling the garden. Professionals will be hired to tend the garden.

Well they had a professional gardner but they fired him when he asked, where the 'spade and the hoe'.

Yes what else are they going to bring to the White House lawn... I wondered about all of this when he won in Nov. ..... how they could trash up our beautiful White House. I am not against a garden if is in a place that is kept up and not taking away from the elegance of the White House, but what else will they do that is the scary part.
