Illinois Bill Would Require Gun Owners to Buy $1M in Liability Insurance
An Illinois state lawmaker is proposing that gun owners be required to carry personal liability insurance of at least $1 million.
Rep. Kenneth Dunkin's bill seeks to amend the state's Firearm Owners Identification Card Act to provides that any person who owns a firearm in the state maintain a $1 million or higher policy of liability insurance "specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person."
A gun owner would be responsible after a firearm is lost or stolen until the loss or theft is reported to the police department or sheriff of the jurisdiction in which the owner resides.
Police would be empowered to pull the gun license of anyone who does not submit evidence of having the required insurance.
The measure is now in the House Rules Committee.

Provides that any person who owns a firearm in this State shall maintain a policy of liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person.
Provides that a person shall be deemed the owner of a firearm after the firearm is lost or stolen until such loss or theft is reported to the police department or sheriff of the jurisdiction in which the owner resides. Provides that the Department of State Police shall revoke and seize a Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously issued under this Act if the Department finds that the person to whom such card was issued possesses or acquires a firearm and does not submit evidence to the Department of State Police that he or she has been issued in his or her name a liability insurance policy in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person. Effective January 1, 2010.

This is obviously a way to ban guns from the hands of honest, law-abiding responsible people

I just sent another donation to the NRA. The VA State busybodies just tried to legislate more gun control here in VA but it's not getting very far.
Time to buy more ammo - again. And maybe go and see what's just come in at our favorite gun shop.

You're absolutely right WT.....I'm sure all of the thugs and criminals in Chicago are lining up right now to get their $1M insurance package!!!
I find myself starting to think racial bias isn't such a bad thing afterall!!! There are two elements to this Bill that "O" and his minion want:
1. Control of all guns. Period!!
2. Blacks will now become instant Millionaires since they are involved in more gun shootings than anyone else.
And a third/fourth group to benefit is the insurance companies (you know the premiums are going to be sky high) and the attorneys, as usual!!! I can't wait to see the legal language of this insurance plan!!!

How many insurance companies are going to be willing to underwrite a 1 Million Liability policy for someone with a gun ?. For Auto insurance, companies function on the premise that 'they are betting you don't have an automobile accident.' They even have software to determine when you are likely to have an accident, then your rates go up, minimum, or you get dumped from the company because you have gone too long without an accident.
I don't see too many companies writing too many 1 Million dollar policies for gun owners and this is what the Lawmakers are betting on too. If there are, then the premiums will be prohibitive to the average gun owner and almost impossible to keep up.
Again only the criminal will have the gun. Is it ironic that Illonois is the first state to come up with this bill ? Ugbama has said he is not going to touch guns, no but will make it impossible for the Average American to own one.

The gun grabbers are being thwarted by our Constitutional rights, so they are going to make it too expensive and restrictive to own guns. Sneaky.
I have noticed the Black lawmakers are predominantly anti-gun. I think it is a racial discrimination attempt to disarm Whites. Their own neighborhoods are pretty much living in anarchy. The only thing that prevents that Black crime from spilling over into mixed or White neighborhoods is that so many Whites are legally armed.
The Black leaders cannot clean up their own areas. Hell, most Black leadership is criminally bent itself. So they would like to see the White areas drawn down into the same turmoil that they "enjoy".
In Chocolate City(New Orleans) after Katrina the police confiscated guns from law abiding citizens. Then a few weeks later Mayor Nagin and his police chief posed grinning with the new military rifles the police department had purchased. This is exactly what the Second Amendment is about. Protection from the government.

TomR it's not that the "leaders of the black CCCPmmunity" CAN'T bring peace to their neighborhoods they WON'T bring peace to their neighborhoods. It's not politically advantageous for them to do so. They need the chaos for them to stay in power, they need the white supremacist groups to exist in order to have an enemy. Like I said before it's straight out of George Orwell's "1984". If they bring peace and encourage black people to go out and succeed they'll do so and the people won't need their so called "leaders" anymore. It would Political Suicide for "black leaders".
