Democratic Rep. Jim Cooper (Tenn.) vented to Air America about the way Speaker Nancy Pelosi was treating members who wanted to do things like read the bills being voted on.
It wasn't pretty.

Cooper, one of the 11 Democrats to vote against the House version of the stimulus bill, said he landed in hot water with Pelosi because he cared what was in the bill.
"I got in terrible trouble with our leadership because they don’t care what’s in the bill, they just want it pass and they want it to be unanimous," he said. "They don’t mind the partisan fighting cause that’s what they are used to. In fact, they’re really good at it. And they’re a little bit worried about what a post-partisan future might look like. If members actually had to read the bills and figure out whether they are any good or not. We’re just told how to vote. We’re treated like mushrooms most of the time."

Good for him to speak out. Pelosi treats her Democrats “like mushrooms most of the time.” We can only imagine how the House Republicans get treated.

Probably the same way, she's a leftist and nobody can tell her anything. All communists are this way, they know it all until their policies fail, which they always do. Then she will blame the wobbly Blue dogs and especially the Republicans.
The mushroom reference is great. 'Always kept in the dark and fed lots of Bullshit.' The democrats are all about control and power. And we the powerless can do nothing but sit by and watch as our Liberties are taken away. A few years ago it was one by one. Now the democrats have speeded up the pace and as they are taking more and more away until they control every aspect of our lives.

Apparently, Cooper is back peddling about this now. (surprise!!) Guess Pelosi sent in her storm troopers to adjust his attitude.

I wonder if the Founding Fathers meant for the party in control to rule congress with an iron hand? Pelosi sets her own rules and does what she wants.

Lord Acton wrote this in 1887. He must have had a vision, or more accurately a nightmare, of Nancy Pelosi when he put pen to paper. The Speaker of the House is so full of herself that I don't know how the botox finds any room.
