B.Hussein Obama's Socialized Medicine On the Installment Plan

Obama Signs the State Children's Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP

Rep. Steve King’s statement in opposition to the S-CHIP

Congressman Steve King speaks before voting against an expansion of the State Childrens Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), known as HAWK-i in Iowa, on February 4, 2009. The expansion provides new benefits to illegal immigrants and wealthy families at the expense of low-income children.

Obama's Socialized Medicine the First Step

SCHIP covers illegals and “kids” up to 30 years old!!

The House today gave final approval to the S-CHIP government health care expansion funded with a massive tax hike on smokers.

Obama yesterday signed the legislation which includes a 61.66 cent increase in the federal tax on cigarettes to help fund the expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). This increase raises the federal tax on cigarettes to just over $1 per pack and will help reduce the serious burden of lung disease felt across New York State by saving lives and money.

Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and the entire New York Congressional Delegation supported this historic legislation.

More and more parents who have been taking care of their kids’ health care costs will shift that responsibility to the government and by extension the US taxpayers. Families living at up to 4 times the poverty rate are applicable to enter their kids into the government program. And President Obama made it clear this is only the beginning of herding everyone into government run health care:

Obama said at the signing that this is just the “first step.”

This is the first step to socialized medicine.

Republicans criticized the cost of the legislation. They also said it will mean an estimated 2.4 million children who otherwise would have access to private insurance will join the State Children's Health Insurance Program instead.

"The Democrats continue to push their government-run health care agenda — universal coverage as they call it," said Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas.

An estimated 7 million children are now enrolled in SCHIP.

To cover the increase in spending, the bill would boost the federal excise tax on a pack of cigarettes by 62 cents, to $1.01 a pack.

Harry Reid said, of the bill signing, ""It's going to be a happy day for America."

Some critics objected to the bill because it would allow states to enroll moderate-income families and does not include a ban on legal immigrants from getting coverage unless they have been in the U.S. for at least five years.

The vote was 290-135

Yes and in little sppech he says this is just the beginning of his plan for nationalized healthcare and electronic database of everyones healthcare documents. They will know who smokes, who is obese, everything. This is not good.

So I proudly served 21 years in the U.S. Luftwaffe for quality of life health benefits, and in a state prison (security) for the same, and now I'm paying for welfare recipients?

30 years old? Are you kidding me? That is NO longer a child, it's a freeloader on the system.
I was married and had a kid and was working full time by the time I was 30. It's just getting people used to the fact that paychecks are going bye-bye and the nanny state government will take care of them.

I think we should all write letters to the idiot republicans that votes "Yes" and tell them what we think of their stupidity!!!!

At least Pence and Souder (Indiana) voted "No"!!!! Thank God we have some people who can think for themselves!!!!

My Rep voted yes...sigh.
Well, my husband and I know how to get along with little and we can do it again. I'll be damned if our business makes a profit any time soon. I refuse to add to the Democrats war chest any more than I have to. At least while we have these lifelong politicians running things.

This is a Trojan horse that has been snuck into the back door. It is for the 'chillen'. What they don't tell you is all those chillen are 70 % illegal. So basically the government has gotten into bailing out hospitals in California. Because the Emergency Rooms can't handle all the primary care for all of the Illegals that come in off the street for a 'Freebie'.

So instead of shutting the door to prevent this rif-raf from wreaking havoc on our economy, we remove the wall that had the door to make it easier for them to get in.

This bubble is going to burst. The taxpayer can only put up with so much before something has got to give or burst.

Just a quick question, what will they do with this abomination when, not if but when this bubble bursts. I'm no Economist so I'm just curious.

I don't want this, I can't think of any of my friends who do. Teddy Roosevelt may have been pro-healthcare but I don't think he could imagine this. He wanted everybody to have their fair shot (shot NOT share barry) at things but he still expected people to pull their own weight and if you didn't work you were SOL. The dems today would have hated Theodore Roosevelt. Speaking of california Mark, I've figured out their economic plan, ban everything the leftist special interest groups don't like, and everything you don't ban you raise an ungodly amount of taxes on, then you spend the taxes for the illegals, finally hand out an i.o.u. to the taxpayer before raising their taxes again. It's ridiculous I'm just calling it like I see it. I never thought about having kids anyway. This IMO is government-sponsored child neglect. For the Children MY ASS!!

Hopefully this system will fail miserably and we'll abandon it.

I see my rep. (Emerson) voted for it. Another name to add to the list of people who can kiss my ass. What's going on in the halls of government is absolutely scary.

The expanded SCHIP coverage to children already covered by parents who can afford their own health insurance, increasing the age to include adults, and covering the illegal alien invasion is a total fraud perpetrated on an all too willing and gullible Kool-Aid drinking big government addicted public.
