Rep. Duncan D. Hunter (Marine Capt.) Says NO to GITMO Prisoners Coming to Camp Pendleton
Obama after closing Gitmo is considering sending the terrorists scum to Camp Pendleton, San Diego.
Of the 5 congressmen in San Diego, the 3 Republicans are saying Hell No.
Rep. Duncan D. Hunter (Marine Capt.) Bilbray and Issa signed on to Hunter’s letter to Obama.
“Camp Pendleton is a place where we train our Marines and Sailors for combat,” Congressman Hunter wrote in his letter. “It is not a detention facility, nor should it be transformed into one.
Any attempt to accommodate detainees at Camp Pendleton would create an unnecessary distraction for the Marine Corps and interfere with its primary mission, which is to combat terrorism.
“Redirecting these detainees to Camp Pendleton would also present a serious threat to surrounding military installations and resources, as well as the community’s civilian population.
San Diego is not the place to transfer these terror suspects and experiment with new detention procedures. Suspected terrorists should continue being held at Guantanamo Bay, where they can be safely contained,” he said.
Hunter, a Marine combat veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, concluded, “In closing Guantanamo Bay, the incoming Administration would be making a serious mistake and I urge it to reconsider.”
Hunter, who like his father is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, sent a letter this evening to Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates noting that plans to put terrorists in his community, which includes Marine Corp. Base Camp Pendelton, will not be met without a fight.
Camp Pendleton with over 45,000 Marines is the busiest base in the world.

Duncan D. Hunter (Captain, USMC) did 3 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. His Dad and Grandfather both served our country as well. I am so glad he is speaking out about this and leading the way on saying NO to prisoners being sent to Camp Pendleton .
LEAVE the terrorists at GITMO, problem solved!

This problem is soooo easy to solve:
1. Hang all the jihadists in Gitmo.
2. Close Gitmo.
3. Stop taking rank-and-file prisoners(who will be interrogated then executed in the field) so there is no need for a prison like Gitmo. (High value prisoners will be sent to a place unknown for proper interrogation and execution.)
4. Problem solved.

I agree with you PeteSuj.
Moving the prisoners to the Marine Corps base is an outright affront and insult to the Marines and their integrity. Makes me think that the slimeball Murtha proposed this one.

If Barack Hussein Obama as President and CIC decides to close Gitmo and transfer the detainees to Camp Pendleton or any other stateside military facility that would be a sure signal to everyone in the military to get out of the service as soon as their enlistment is up. BHO is a terror sympathizing incompetent who is clueless and will appease the enemy at every opportunity. This includes selling out the military every chance that he gets.
Charlie Rangel may get his wish with the reinstatement of the draft as no one will want to serve under Obama's version of CIC (Coward-in-Chief).
