Obama Snubs Nation's Heroes, Becomes the First President to Skip Ball Honoring Medal of Honor Recipients in Over 50 Years
Barack Obama may have stumbled over his words briefly during his inauguration, but he made an even bigger blunder later Tuesday evening. The newly sworn-in President opted not to appear at what should have been one of the most important Balls on his agenda that evening - The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball.
The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball was begun in 1953 for President Dwight Eisenhower's inauguration. The event recognized recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military award. There were 48 Medal of Honor recipients in attendance, who were undoubtedly disappointed by the Commander-in-Chief's failure to show. Over the past 56 years and 14 inaugurations, no President has skipped this event - until now.
The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball is sponsored by the American Legion, and co-sponsored by 13 other veteran's service organizations, including those such as the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Instead of attending this ball honoring our nation's heroes, Obama was busy making stops at 10 other official balls. Obama and his wife's first stop was at the Neighborhood Ball. From there they went to the Home State Ball for Illinois and Hawaii, the Commander-in-Chief Ball, the Youth Inaugural Ball, and the Home State Ball for Delaware and Pennsylvania. They finished off the night with brief appearances at the Mid-Atlantic, Western, Midwest, Eastern, and Southern regional Balls.
It was the party without all of the celebrities that Obama skipped. The very people who he sought to have support him during his candidacy and campaign, who have fought to protect this country, were snubbed in favor of publicity and the opportunity to rub shoulders - yet again - with the out-of-touch Hollywood elite.

"The American Legion, as it has on every inauguration evening since 1953, hosted the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Banquet & Ball on January 20th. The quadrennial event is co-sponsored with fourteen veterans service and military service organizations and honors recipients of the Medal of Honor. Forty-seven of these heroes attended this year’s event which was held in the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel.
President Obama was invited but did not attend."

The “ Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball “ has been the 1st stop for most POTUS in the past 55 years and he had NO intention of going. And there were 47 Medal of Honor recipients were there!!!!!!
I realize B.Hussein Obama would be very uncomfortable in the presence of honorable people, but to snub them like this when he is their CIC is unforgivable. He isin't fit to be in the same room with them I know that too, but again as CIC he should have at least showed up to say thank you to THEM!
He does not deserve the title CIC, he is the Scumbag-in-Chief! The new Commander-in-Chief is a man (??) who does not believe that blood shed for our nation's safety is worth spending 15 minutes at an Inaugural Ball.
THIS one was more important to Obama!!! I am sorry about the language in the song, but I think it has to be known just the kind of thing that is in it and how it trumped with Obama to go to a ball with this kind of thing instead of the Ball Honoring our Medal of Honor Heroes.

I know he's my boss I know I have to follow his orders I know I have to give the proper respects to the Office of the President of the United States. But give me a break. This isn't the damn russian or chinese army here, Sir. (gotta show discipline) Soldiers aren't seen as expendable peons in this Military. Why do you think that we spend so much money on the Equipment Weapons Body Armor for every Ground Troop Fighter Planes Bombers the enormous Super Carriers in our Navy Battle Tanks such as the M1 Abrams the M2 Bradleys and everything else. Why do you think we spend so much on training? Why Do you think they teach us to be so called "Killing Machines"? Just for the hell of it? They teach us to do the things we do so that we can stay alive. Staying alive is not really a priority in most other militaries around the world.

IRONIC that Eisenhower's daughter that lives in the Gettysburg area is LEFT of the LEFT, and that Biden's son - Beau - (Delaware Attorney General), who is a US Army Reserve or National Guard JAG, chose NOT to wear his class 'A' uniform during the 2009 Inaugural as well. Obama and Biden do not deserve to be in the site or presence of ANY Medal of Honor patriot!!!

Why would Obama attend a ball for those who sacrificed so much for America? Now, if this were a ball held by Code Pink, he would have made every effort to be there.
One unfortunate thing about this ball is that there are no Medal of Honor recipients in attendance from the two wars which we have been waging these past six years. Bush dropped the ball big time in not honoring any "living" hero's from the War on Terror.

The "Salute to Heroes" Ball is a patriotic event, like honoring the National Anthem or wearing a flag lapel pin. That is below Obama's pay grade. Besides, Obama would be a wimp in a man's world there.
I read that Obama went to an event hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus, and of course, also to Oprah's event. Our President is a racist and he is going to get a pass on it.
Also, reading that link to the Chcago Sun-Times I noted that the most popular search of the web site was for Rev. Lowery's Inaugural benediction. You know, the one with racist overtones that drew chuckles from The Messiah.

This President is going to go down very fast. Sure with some extreme lefties he will stay popular, but with "middle" America, he won't stand a chance for long. I mean, look at his "Stimulus plan", this is just the beginning of his "Ivory tower" and arrogant attitude. He is too far removed from the real world, never worked in the real world, never seen the real world. Just abstract ideas, discussions with like-minded, intellectual incest and self-gratification with his brothers and sisters in academia. That is all this man is about. Mark my words, he is already on the way down. America won't stand for this for too long.

This just demonstrates that Barack Obama "Big Mouth Candidate" has not made the transition to Barack Obama "President & CIC". The office of President and CIC carries a responsibility with it. That responsibility includes attendance at the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball and honoring the recipients of the Medal Of Honor as all recent presidents before Obama have done.
Barack Hussein Obama may have the titles of President and CIC but he has a long way to go (probably never) to earn the trust and respect that normally goes with them.

JohnE PFC U.S. Army, you are right, you are and will be giving respect to the office to the position of the CIC. And that is the right thing to do. There is a difference in respecting the actual office and respecting or not respecting the person themselves.At least that is how I see it.
I have tremendous respect for the actual office of the President of our country. To me it is awesome and the same with CIC. But I just don't respect the person right now elected to that office. IMO The office is so much higher then Obama will ever be as a person. It is like some cockroach has crawled into the chair and is pulling the strings right now.

America is bigger then any one person but it is so easy especially with EO's and being in the minority for the left to do a lot of damage. I pray he can be stopped or at least slowed down.
