I have no problem making a Barack Obama Day a national holiday commemorating the election of the first affirmative action half black president. However, it must be coupled with making April Fool's Day (aka All Fool's Day) a national holiday too commemorating all those fools who drank of the Kool-Aid and voted for Barack Obama.

The passage of California’s Proposition 8 came as a surprise to many. It received strong support from Mormon voters, as well as from Hispanic and African-American voters who turned out for Barack Obama in the presidential race.

The “day off” concept mirrors past efforts to have immigrant (mostly Hispanic) workers take a day off work to show their economic importance.

The Prop. 8 vote came after California’s Supreme Court overturned a previous same-sex marriage prohibition.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was a prime backer of California’s and Arizona’s gay marriage bans. In Arizona, the ban also received support from Hispanic voters.

SOMEONE close to obama must have told Blago that all he’d get from obama for placing obama’s woman in the Senate would be a cushy, high-paying, no-show job for Mrs. Blago or, even better, a foundation job with the SEIU (service employees’ union) offshoot, “Change To Win.” There’s that pesky word, “Change” again.

I’m not making this up. I’m quoting from the FBI affidavit. Obama’s pick for the Senate seat was his close friend and advisor, Valerie Jarrett (Senate Candidate #1 in the affidavit). Harris is Blagojevich’s top aide and was also charged today with corruption. He was caught on tape making these statements:

“The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich had been told by an adviser “the president-elect can get Rod Blagojevich’s wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the president-elect’s pick to the Senate.”"

AND

“HARRIS said they could work out a three-way deal with SEIU and the President-elect where SEIU could help the President-elect with ROD BLAGOJEVICH’s appointment of [Valerie Jarrett] to the vacant Senate seat, ROD BLAGOJEVICH would obtain a position as the National Director of the Change to Win campaign, and SEIU would get something favorable from the President-elect in the future.”

as Joe Cannon said, sounds like a bribe to me.
