Obama Tells SF Chronicle He Will Bankrupt Coal Industry
Imagine if John McCain had whispered somewhere that he was willing to bankrupt a major industry? Would this declaration not immediately be front page news? Well, Barack Obama actually flat out told the San Francisco Chronicle (SF Gate) that he was willing to see the coal industry go bankrupt in a January 17, 2008 interview. The result? Nothing. This audio interview has been hidden from the public...until now. Here is the transcript of Obama's statement about bankrupting the coal industry (emphasis mine):
Let me sort of describe my overall policy.
What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there.
I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.
Obama/Joe Biden "No Coal Plants Here in America"
Wild Thing's comment.........
I have sooo had it with this POS Barack Hussein Obama.
McCain plans to build at least 40 Nuclear power plants. Obamas against that too.
B.Hussein Obama will BANKRUPT the COAL INDUSTRY, but the Marine Industry, Automobile Industry, the RV industry, the retail industry, the online retail industry and 100% of the other industry segments. It also effects the railroad industry...they are the main haulers of coal!...Ripple effect...drip, drip!!!

Blacko bama and his putz friend Biden are complete assees. If they bankrupt the coal industry, and control Oil and won't drill for our own then what are we suppose to use as fuel for power ? For generating power, he's against Nuclear, that leaves these low output wind farms which can not generate enough to power. Wind speed is never constant and is always changing.
The problem with wind power, is these generators must turn at a constant RPM, to maintain 60 cycles, if it can't maintain 60 Hertz, then things like refrigerators and other motor driven appliances have a huge tendency to burn up especially if the frequency varies as little as 10 %.
Because of this problem, Wind power must be changed into DC then reconverted back to AC. This is a costly operation. Especially when you are talking huge amounts of Power used by the public and industry. This reconversion is ok for Air Conditioning and other appliances but at the same time can cause glitches, in startup. And computers go nuts when exposed to this kind of power.
He's dealing with something he knows nothing about. Also these new 'idiot' bulbs can have problems with 'inverted' power. The idiot bulbs have transformers in them and operate on 50-60 hz, transformers will track the inverted sine wave but you wind up with harmonics from these iverted Sine waves which will cause trouble down the road i.e., Shorter life( when they are suppose to outlast the incandescent by 10 fold), and they also can buzz which can be very annoying and burn up sooner.

Mark I really appreciate your sharing about this stuff, Thank you so much. Other then coal, nuclear and oil, and those I do know about. I know we need them and how important they are.
But the other things I have no clue about so I am learning. Thank you for explaining about the wind power.
This is so horrible, and what else will come out when it is too late to fight back.

What will Barackoli do when all the coal miners are out of work and gunning for his head?
My hubby's family comes from the Greenbrier area of West Virginia, hardy Irish/Scottish stock. You do not want a Scotsman upset with you. Trust me. Coal is clean, coal is good.

I posted this also and sent out several e-mails. Between McDermott's Babcock and Wilcox unit and General Electric among the leaders as well as others we have the domestic technology for nuclear power without getting offshore technology and McDermott's B&W unit is a world leader in clean coal technology. Yes we must get this message out.
Bob A. I understand that Sarah Palin was all over this issue today. If only McCain had her spirit and fight from the beginning.

And this is only the beginning if Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have a free rein running the government.
