When I was stationed in Montana, I had a friend who was a Forest Ranger and gave briefings to campers at the wilderness campsites in the mountains. He said the reason you don't feed bears in the wild is that they will become accustom to handouts and will no longer forage for food. If you fail to feed them, they will tear into your garbage and campsite looking for food. Bears close to inhabited areas will break into houses looking for easy meals. This was a problem for them as campers always thought it was cute to put food in certain areas so they could watch the bears eat.

It's amazing how this mirrors the Democrats and the entitlement generation. The entitlement generation no longer believes in working for a living but instead relies on government handouts and programs. The Democrats will always give the handouts to ensure the entitlement generation votes for them and their programs; a way to keep them under control.

BobF, thanks for sharing about your friend that was a Forest Ranger. That really makes sense too I can understand what a problem it would be and not only for the people and dangerous but also for the bear that trained himself so earily to want and expect the handouts.
