There was some interesting commentary over on the Ace Of Spades blog about this.

"Barack Obama is every older woman's nightmare -- the slick talking, good looking, totally unqualified man who waltzes in and gets the big job instead of the woman who thought she would get it by sheer force of dogged hard work and experience. A huge number of women have had this experience or know someone who has. I personally have had it twice. Women like this see Hillary as having done everything right to earn the Democratic nomination, getting the most votes, having the best ideas and most complete plans, and just plain working harder, but somehow still getting screwed out of it by the slick young empty suit. It is viscerally impossible for such women to vote for Barack Obama, no matter how much they might agree with him on policy. They simply don't believe him on policy either - such men will say and do anything to talk their way into the job, and who knows what they will then do once they get it?"

and another:

"John McCain represents their dad or their husband - the guy who cheered them on as they pursued careers and gave them a shoulder to cry on when they needed one. He has earned the job, the way they think Hillary did. They trust him on the issues even if they don't agree with him (how many times did we smile when hearing liberals say this about Reagan?) This is not about policy at all, it is about how women think they should be treated by men and how men should get ahead in life.

If McCain is smart enough to pick a woman as his running mate, it will seal the deal with these women.

Debra is a thinking voter who speaks her mind. Good for her.

Democrat's are an interesting bunch. They talk about fairness and unity and then resort to the machine politics of the smoke-filled back room deals of the past. Now we know how Obama plans to bring the country together in UNITY.

Just saw that ad on Fox too. If those Democrats who were disenfranchised by Dr. Dean aren't angry they deserve the Marxist who stole their vote. Back in 2000 they pitched a shitstorm of litigation over Algore's loss, tantamount to their being raped by the GOP, along comes Dean and he does worse by them but this is different, it's incest, a family matter. I hope McCain picks a running mate we can accept, I don't want to have to write in 'none of the above' in that slot.

I think, since somebody brought it up, Sarah Palin, would add excitement to the republican campaign. She is pro life, pro gun, pro oil, and most of all Pro American.

She would be the spark to light up the score board in November.

As much as I would like Sarah Palin, I am betting that McCain will pick Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota. (Unless he does something totally stupid like those rumors about Joe Lieberman going around). The Rust Belt needs solidification, and I suspect the convention wasn't held up in Minnesocold for nothing...

In a way I wish Debra was doing an ad that stated McCain was too conservative for her, so she was not voting at all. I guess McCain's rino record will appeal to a lot of disenfranchised Dems, so maybe that is good. If he gets elected we conservatives can cuss him for four years. He is still better than the muslim.

I do hope he picks a running mate to the right of himself. Otherwise, the Repubs will have a bunch of "Debras"

Jack you hit the nail on the head, that is exactly right. Dean should be getting tons of ticked off mail from Clinton people he probably has, but they better know this was not a Republican thing done to them it was all within their own family like you said.

Mark, I agree, Palin would be at the top of my list.

Nick Byram, that would be the end for me if McCain picked Lieberman. Enough is enough and that would be the last straw of tolerance from me.

Tom, your entire comment is what I have been thinking. I think a lot of the Hillary people will be voting for McCain. That is the thing with his being a rino, it makes the dems voting for him not feel too painful I guess.
