Cindy McCain Heading to Republic of Georgia

Cindy McCain Heading to Republic of Georgia

Washington Post

Cindy McCain, wife of Sen. John McCain, is headed to the Republic of Georgia, where tensions between the government and Russia have sparked international concern and have become an issue on the presidential campaign trail.

McCain announced to a group of fundraisers in Sacramento that his wife was headed to the country, but the campaign did not provide any details about the trip.

McCain has been very aggressive in his condemnation of Russia's invasion of Georgia, and his campaign has been critical of Obama's more measured response when Russian tanks first pushed into the country.

McCain spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker confirmed Cindy McCain is enroute to the nation and said she is visiting as part of the World Food Program. She said she will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and visit with wounded Georgian soldiers..
Cindy McCain said she has wanted to visit Georgia for "some time" and that trips like this are "an important part of what I'm about, what makes me tick."

In the Time article, McCain aides denied that the trip was specifically designed to occur during the Democratic National Convention, and specifically on the day that her counterpart, Michelle Obama, is scheduled to speak.

"She's on the phone with the World Food Program, he's on the phone with Saakashvili," McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace told Time. "It's like this great picture of what they'll be like in the White House."

Wild Thing's comment............

Cindy McCain has been very active throughout the last two decades in helping to raise awareness of injustice and poverty overseas. This is very much within her interests, and not some election year ploy. She has always she shunned publicity about the things she has done. Most of it was never in the press until McCain ran for President.

She has visited our soldiers too and to visit the wounded soldiers in Georgia is wonderful.

Let's not forget her involvement with "Halo Trust" clearing land mines in these countries. I doubt MO would ever think of advocating these projects.

I think Cindy McCain would make a wonderful First Lady like Laura Bush has been. Not only physically attractive, but classy, dignified and very intelligent and accomplished.

At a glance it's apparent who is sincere in their devotion to our country, our troops in harm's way and the genuine compassion shown toward those who are wounded. All voluntary acts by Cindy, performed without pecuniary or political motives. Two decades of doing this proves it's not just a political expedient proffered at the moment of campaigning. Contrast that with those leading women on the left and their motives, count them, still looking? Take your time.

Thank you WT for all you do for our veterans and troops and for the past support of our combat troops, in zone.

Cindy McCain is a class act. She doesn't have to publicly proclaim her pride in the country as she practices it every day. Contrast this to the Democrats and their presumptive First lady who chronically complain about the country every day and need to say the words, "I love my country", to convince themselves and the gullible that they aren't anti-American.

I am not the most enthusiastic supporter of John McCain but would like to see Cindy McCain as First Lady following the class act of Laura Bush.

I just checked to see what Brewery she is affiliated with but instead, ran into some really nasty blogs. She is not even First Lady yet and already they are trashing her.

So they are obviously running scared about this election.

I am not a particular fan of McCain either but I think a damn sight better than Hussein Whatshisname.

She is going to Georgia and these morons got the nerve to say she will exploit the troops,. as far as I know we don't have any troops there yet.

I am convinced we will win. Nobody with that kind of hate can come up with a winning idea let alone a winning candidate.

I have come to really like Cindy. She's classy, but laid back. She looks great in business wear and sweats, but anyway, she would be a fantastic first lady. She's smart, articulate, patient, kind and caring. She's not a spoiled little rich girl like many in her situation could be. This girl definitely has a beating heart in her chest and it's warm, unlike Bitchelle, who only wants glory and medals.
