That condescending P'k. He's now proposing a Carteresque windfall profits tax on oil companies. Last time that happened the oil companies incurred debt, most of it in foreign investments, making them less profitable to both the corporate raiders and the revenue agents. In 1980, the United States enacted the Crude Oil Windfall Profit Tax Act (P.L. 96-223) as part of a compromise between the Carter Administration and the Congress over the decontrol of crude oil prices that allowed oil prices to float to the OPEC levels, familiar isn't it. That tax was an excise tax imposed the oil company and passed on to the consumer.
The upshot of the whole episode was a sharp rise in costs at the refined end, to cover the increased operating expenses and lower dividend expectations. It's a fatal blow to the consumer - drill now!!!

Besides, the Obamessiah needs to be fought at every level. I cannot for the life of me see him even as my local dogcatcher, much less POTUS.

But I don't need some bureaucrat shoving it down my throat!!!!!
I can do as I want to and go as far as I want with this "green" stuff. My decision--not theirs!
