World Court: U.S. must delay Mexican death sentences
THE HAGUE
The World Court ordered the United States on Wednesday to do all it could to halt the imminent executions of five Mexicans until the court makes a final judgment in a dispute over suspects' rights.
The row, which has strained relations between the neighbors, centers on the fact that the United States failed to inform 51 of its citizens sentenced to die in U.S. jails of their right to consular assistance.
One of the five Mexicans on death row, Jose Medellin, is due to die on August 5 in Texas.
In 2004 the World Court, or International Court of Justice (ICJ), ruled in favor of Mexico, finding the United States had violated international law. It ordered the United States to review the 51 cases to see whether the lack of consular assistance had prejudiced the outcome of their trials.
A year later, U.S. President George W. Bush ordered Texas to review Medellin's case but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in March that Bush had no authority to do so, leading Texas to schedule Medellin's execution for August.
"The court indicates that the United States of America shall take all measures necessary to ensure that five Mexican nationals are not executed pending its final judgment," Judge Rosalyn Higgins said.
Mexico, which had asked the court for an interpretation of its 2004 ruling, given U.S. assertions that its federal states have a large degree of legal autonomy and it cannot compel them to review the cases, welcomed Wednesday's ruling.

Wild Thing's comment........
The U.S. is not part of the “World Court”. They’re just blowing bad air and trying to look relevant. It didn’t work the last time they tried this, I doubt it will work any better this time.
If President Bush allows this "ruling" to be upheld, then we've truly lost our sovereignty. I cannot for the life of me believe that OUR leadership and rule of law comes from Amsterdam and Mexico, and with no end in sight. What's next?
The US supreme Court has already ruled that Bush over stepped his authority in this matter as related to the US Constitution.

Supreme Court Rules Against Illegal Alien Death Row Murderer
Texas has every right to go ahead and execute this POS on Aug 5th. I hope Texas “executes” it's own right and thumbs it's nose at the “World” Court.
If we start knuckling under to these unelected poofters who have no jurisdiction whatever over our free and sovereign nation, it means that our sovereignty and our Constitution have been seriously compromised

Just who does the World Court think they are? They need to worry about more important things, like crimes against humanity. That's why they're in The Hague. (personally, I think the UN should be there, too!). They are trouncing where they are not wanted and acting like a bunch of bullies. This guy is not only an illegal, but a murderer. He's done far worse than some already executed in states who still have the death penalty. You know, the old testament says An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
The World Court can dry up and blow away. You don't tell nations that are not part of your club what to do!

This is all part of the leftists desire for globalization of the world under one government. Hence, no more constitution, no more States Rights, no more Liberty, also ( this is Obama) and We the People are ruled and governed by some bureaucrat in the Hague.
The Supreme Court is already referring to World Case Law instead of the constitution, the 4 dissenters on the second Amendment case, are all globalists.
But with the leftist congress we are on the fast track to a one world government.

I AM SURE THE MEXICANS WILL BE OUT MARCHING ON 8-5
They marched all over here and there were thousands of them-- they even drug their kids along! I stood on my front porch and watched them- It was unreal-!! I don't even understand why we put our own Border Agents in Prision- they have been there for a good while!! Rick Perry- should of let them out a long time ago! Crazy!!! World court -- everybody in everybody else's business- just nutty!!!! Same crap they are doing with GITMO!

If the World Court was relevant and functional, there would be no wars or genocides. What did the Word Court accomplish lately in Myanamar or Zimbabwe?
These 5 men are convicted murderers. They earned the death penalty. If an American was in Mexico illegally and committed murder, I would say let Mexico do what it wants to to him.

Hey Tom....if an American was in Mexico and committed murder.........THERE WOULDN'T EVEN BE A TRIAL!!!! Wonder how the World Court would look at that? Probably say it was OK because the American had to be guilty!!!
You do bring up an interesting point though Tom.....where was the World Court in Myanamar and Zimbabwe.....and where are they now???
UN and World Court........both worthless!!!!

About what we'd expect from Jorge. Here's the headline I want to see:
"In a suprise move today Texas authorities executed five Mexican nationals before their scheduled execution date making room for more executions to follow."
Governor Rick Perry needs to move up that date to immediately. I would!!!

Mark, well said and that is just what it is all about. Global everything and make all countries the same. It is beyond horrible what they want and slowly it has been going in that direction.
But like you said it is on a fast track with the Congress we have.

Cheryl, good comparison!! Yes that is just what they are doing.
Thanks for sharing about where you live and what happens on 8-5.

Your right about the World Court too.
