It's silly to keep making up holidays! They do celebrate Junteenth out here in Nebraska with parades and gang warfare! We just stay out of that area.
They get upset because I celebrate Oktoberfest and St Patrick's Day (I'm German and Irish mostly) and I guess they feel slighted. They already get the entire month of February for Black History Month. The Irish don't get a whole month--only one day and the Germans only get a few days.

I remember vividly in our second home state of South Carolina that in 2000 we reluctantly removed the Confederate Battle Flag from our state capital in Columbia and relocated her at the nearby Confederate Memorial...and the NAACP still boycotted our state and tried sabotaging our tourist industry and South Carolina NCAA athletic

The National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign efforts are for a National Holiday Observance, not a paid federal holiday, (for example: Flag Day). It amazes me that anyone can come up with the conclusion that we are asking for a paid federal holiday from any of our campaign web sites or materials. It appears that attacks on Sen. Obama concerning Juneteenth have no merit and are based upon deliberate distortions of the truth.

In 1997, during the 105th congress, it was former Senate Majority Leader, Trent Lott (R-MS) and former Congressman J.C. Watts (R-OK) that sponsored and passed legislation with both houses in congress unanimously recognizing Juneteenth Independence Day in America. Sen. Obama was not a member of congress at that time. Similar legislation continues to be unanimously passed every year in congress.

So, which former and present members of congress are you calling racist because they support the recognition of Juneteenth Independence Day in America? Former Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS)? Former Congressman J.C. Watts (R-OK)? Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX)? Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS)? Congreesman Mike Pence (R-IN)? The entire congress of the United States, both Republican and Democrat, because of the unanimous passage of Juneteenth legislation every year? The Governors and state legislators from almost all 50 states for recognizng Juneteenth National Freedom Day in their individual states?

As the leader of the National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign in America, it is clear to me from so many ridiculous comments that we still have a way to go in America when it comes to acknowledging and celebrating our true history of freedom. Americans of African descent were trapped in the tyranny of enslavement for over 83 years after the celebration of the nation's first "4th of July".

Juneteenth completes the cycle of Independence Day celebrations in America, beginning with the "4th of July" and completed by the "19th of June". As Americans, we should be proud of how we have gone from enslavement to freedom on June 19, 1865, just like we should be poud of our great acheivement of freedom as a nation on July 4, 1776.

Juneteenth is America's 2nd Independence Day celebration. 29 states recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday or state holiday observance, as well as the congress of the United States.

Together we will see Juneteenth become a National Holiday in America!

When Blacks finally decide to be Americans and not Black Americans they will gain respect for themseleves. The majority of blacks want to play the victim card, they want special days seperate from the rest of Americans and THAT is not right.

All these special days are seperating people NOT celebrating anything that builds a strong America.

Rev. Meyers, until this election I honestly never knew blacks had such hate for whites and even for America. Oh once at a baseball game I saw a father and his son not stand for the Anthem and I asked him why. He told me it was not his country and he did not respect our Flag. I asked him where he was born or what country was he from, and he replied he was born in Tenn. and lived in America all his life.

I let it go because he obviously had issues of anger to deal with and I am not his savior nor his friend if he does not respect our Flag. He became my enemy in his one comment about our Flag. I did not make him my enemy he did this out of his own resentment for I guess being black or some ancient relative that was a slave that I had nothing to do with.

This was a man with his adorable son and that is all that I saw when I saw him. But he did not see that in looking at me or the red, white and blue of our Flag. Nor did his heart swell with pride in those words in our awesome Anthem, "ore the land of the free and the home of the brave" .

I felt sorry for him more then anything, but even more for his son. All the men in my family for three generations fought, were wounded and a few died fighting in wars so that this man and his son could be at a baseball game and have the freedom to feel safe, and know what the words meant in our Anthem and what the colors of our Flag mean. He was a user, a user of the freedoms our country has, he knew he could go to a game and speak English and not be forced to speak German if Hitler had done what he had hoped for, he knew he could stand or sit or squat during the Anthem and he would not be punished, only frowned upon.

When any race separates themselves from another like this June 19th Day, Black History Month,that kind of thing it is a very Democrat thing to do. Not a Republican thing. Democrats are into labeling people more then anyone else, black, white, brown, yellow, poor, rich, healthy, sick, weak, strong etc. It literally separates them into groups instead of uniting said groups or races under one umbrella of being Americans. In a certain way it also weakens a country pitting one against another. Think of a fist and the power it has to accomplish it's motive vs., an open hand with the fingers spread out vulnerable and exposed for harm. Think of America united like that fist all the fingers pulled in together as one making that fist, strong and protective.

Nearly 23 million Taiwanese would be denied freedom if not for American protection. More than 48 million South Koreans would be living under a dictatorship if not for American protection. USA action led to the removal of the Serbian dictator Milosevic ,who was responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of people in the Balkans.
• The USA and Britain removed the Iraqi dictator Hussein, who was responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of people in the Middle East. And we have also removed the terrorist Taliban government in Afghanistan.

• America is sending $15 billion and more to Africa to help victims of AIDS.

• American action in Central America, Grenada,and Haiti has kept millions of people out of totalitarian regimes. Of course, all of this has cost every American taxpayer big. And thousands of American military have lost their lives protecting people overseas.

The truth is that the USA has freed more human beings in 230 years than the rest of the world combined. And YES that includes those that were slaves long ago. IMO Blacks should rejoice together with whites and all Americans on July 4th, stand proud and FREE singing the Anthem and celebrate the brave warriors that brought freedom to our land and other lands.

If ole Douglass stood before me today I would ask him to sit down and listen up. I would tell him that if he feels this way in 2008 he should be ashamed of himself and to stop his pity party. That if he can't appreciate the freedom and privilege of living in this great country and the thousands upon thousands of lives that paid the price for his freedom and for this country to stay the land of the free..... then he had best leave and go to where he thinks his people came from. Because his continuing to live in the USA and USING the freedoms that came at the highest cost, and enjoying then 24/7, and complaining about something that happened before most of the American citizens of today were even a twinkle in the eye of two lovers is unacceptable. A journalist and abolitionist did not fight for freedom we and you and others have. Wars are not won by words written by a journalist, wars are won by breaking things and killing the enemy, and God help us also praying that the good guys win.

You will probably get your Juneteenth Holiday as a National Holiday because that is the way our country has become. But my guess is it will still not be enough it never is. And the cry will still ring out about slavery and very few will teach that the blacks sold their own into slavery. Because it is too shameful to admit and so much easier to lie and blame all the white people forgetting that so many whites fought to free blacks.

My prayer is that blacks will one day stop being a wounded race and begin to celebrate being Americans. And when they meet whites, to one day care more about the person's character or lack of then the color of skin.

The really sad thing is that if Obama and his wife win the Presidential campaign that racism will be thrown back to the years long ago. And NOT because of anyone else doing it but because of the anger and resentment that B. Hussein Obama and Michelle bring every where they go.

On base today the weekly base newspaper said June is Asian-American month, but it should be in DECEMBER in honor of the Jap attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 ! I am F'N sick of this reverse ethnic cleansing of our AMERICAN heritage in this PC era of apologists...

So when were the slaves REALLY freed, June 19, 1865 or January 1, 1863 ? One date would necessarily negate the other. The Emancipation Proclamation clearly says, that slaves in Arkansas and Texas were to be freed. Geroge Bush has been compared to Hitler, but Lincoln violated the Constitution when he first decided to force the South back into the union at gun point and continued to violate the constitution throughout the entire Civil War all for the preservation of the Union, and the Constitution be damned.

Read the Declaration of Independence, all the Colonies who joined, joined with the proviso that they could leave when THEY saw fit. They joined voluntarily.

With all this political correctness, the Man who actually signed and authored the document, Emancipation Proclamation, his Birthday isn't even celebrated anymore, except as an honorable mention during Presidents day.

When is the White mans debt going to be finally paid in full for slavery. So far the price keeps going up. We have paid with 630,000 lives mostly all white men for the freeing of the slaves and have been paying ever since. The civil rights movement was led by Republicans in the 60's and it was Eisenhower who de-mobilized the Arkansas National Guard and sent in the 101st Air borne to straighten out Governor Faubus and enforce the Law.

Martin Luther King has his own day, there is Black History Month, a Black Miss America pagent, which is exclusively for Black Women.( sort of a double standard, wouldn't you agree ?)

I am not responsible for slavery, My people came here from Ireland in the 1860's and two of my decendants were drafted into the Union Army, right off the boat, with the promise of US citizenship, to fight a war didn't even know was being waged but they did.

So once again Reverand, when is this debt finally paid and the balance is zero.

Growing up I heard the call from Black Americans for equality without separation. That has been accomplished through the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Almost from the day that act was signed we have seen demands and actions by Blacks for "special", separate entities. Black History Month, Miss Black America, NAACP, BET, affirmative action, quotas, United Negro Colleges, etc.

Blacks cried loud and hard for inclusion, got it and now cry loud and hard for forms of separation. If Junteenth was the only, or one of the few, "special" requests it would not be a big deal. However, the constant demands for "our special" requests has become more than old.

Obama's run for the White House has opened a can of racial worms. He is also half White and has publically rjected and scorned that race. His associations, especially his Church and pastor have been found to be adamently anti White. His wife has shown her racism against Whites.

A lot of Whites are surprised and upset by the racism associated with Senator Obama. You guys need to stop the harping and turn inward and clean up your own house Rev Myers.

Was it a black man that blow up the government building in Oklahoma City? Has not black blood spilled in every America war, beginning with the Revolutionary War until the present war in Iraq?

So, please understand that I am a American too. I love this country. America needs healing from the sins of slavery that still have repercussions today. We have to embrace that history and move forward constructively and positively.

Everyone white did not own slaves. African leaders sold their on people into slavery. There is plenty of blame to go around for slavery, black and white. Thank God for the Quakers who were among the greatest abolitionist in American history!

The annual observance of Juneteenth Indepedence Day and the National Day of Reconciliaion and Healing From the Legacy of Slavery is the best vehicle for that important ride.

So, let's continue to respectfully dialouge about slavery and it's aftermath and celebrate what we all share in common as Americans, freedom.

The concept of a National Juneteenth Holiday as a remembrance of a separate day of black independence is just one more "golden calf" idol that blacks use to separate themselves from the rest of American society. Juneteenth is just a false idol of black respectability that, in fact, disrespects everyone else.

Blacks don't want to join people from all over the world with their different cultures who want to be part of the American melting pot that made the country great. Blacks want to be something different, African-Americans, and part of the many hyphenated diversity boiling pots that are destroying the country.

The Jewish holiday of Passover includes families telling the story of the exodus from Egypt after over 200 years of slavery and is focused on children encouraging them to ask questions for which they will get answers explained to them. How ludicrous it would be for Jews to ask Egypt to make Passover a national holiday.

If blacks from African decent really want to make a difference about slavery they can work to end slavery in Africa today. What a lesson to black children that would be. Blacks could lead the way and expose and challenge other slavery today in the Middle East and South Asia.

And, if the proponents of Juneteenth Day are really sincere they would focus their efforts to eradicate today's slavery of young black girls forced into prostitution by both blacks and non-blacks in black and other neighborhoods across the United States.

Say NO! to Juneteenth Day. It is a black desire for self respect by idolatry of a false slavery god .

For me I don't see the magic in another day, especially a Black Independence day. This seems to be even more divisive. Aside from that, racial harmony is making steps backwards instead of forward. You have Preachers like Wright and Pfleger throwing handgrenades into the crowd to excite them and make them believe they are still slaves to the 'MAN', they are teaching young children to hate, 'Whitey', not to trust the cops, they are your worst enemy. On the Other hand you have Bill Cosby, telling the kids you got to take responsibility for your own actions, Bill Cosby says, Millionare Football players who can't even read, Basketball players can't write two paragraphs... and a majority of Black Leaders are telling Cosby to shut up. Why is that , Doctor Myers ?

And you mean to tell me that another Holiday is going to fix these problems?

Black leaders want the Public schools to teach courses in Ebonics, how in the world is that going to help Black children find a job in order to move up the economic ladder. If you can't speak the language, that the majority of the Working class uses then are not the Black Leaders, handicapping the kids even before they are ready for the corporate world ?

You, Doctor Myers obviously know that too. But another holiday for the independence of the Black man is your answer. Is not that falling far short of what the real goal is. Racial harmony, judging a person's character rather than their skin color.

The richest people in the world who control the world, are sponsoring the One World Government through their paid agents. They have lots of money, they work through a net of charitable and social organizations to give the appearance that they are helping others and the community, while they use that cover to hide their true purpose and pay corrupt politicians, judges and anyone who will accept their money to further their purposes. They are funding candidates and they place in government whomever they want to further their plans of world domination.

Their purpose is to wipe out all vestige of white American-European culture, along with Christianity.

They are pushing diversity, and pushing all other cultures and religions down our throats while eliminating American History and heritage.

The reason they're doing this is to downgrade the white race while exalting other races: illegal immigrants, the poor and ignorant which will be easier to control once the masters take over.

They are degrading our culture through drugs, pornography and filth in television. Hollywood is churning out most vile movies. Our schools are the worst in the world, they are indoctrinating our children to accept all kinds of degradation. Do not take any drugs, you will only making them richer.

Our culture is disappearing. A country without its heritage will accept anyone's heritage's and culture. What are we doing to stop this catastrophe? We have to protest when we see something is not right, write to newspapers, complain to your politicians, participate in something everyday to stop this immoral tide. It is not too late, it's our duty to educate our children with good morals and love of God.Let's pray, ask Jesus to forgive our sins and heal our country.
